Dear friends,
Spending Spring Break in Malibu last week with my two youngest daughters was such an honor for me…
I’m so deeply grateful for what my success has allowed me to share with them: the experiences, the trips, the opportunities, the friendships… the awareness that if we find the courage within to follow our dreams, we can actually live those dreams. That by standing in the truth of who we are ~ and never backing away from our own potential ~ we can achieve and create anything we hope for.
But as we shared this incredible time together (and as I reflected upon how much has changed since they were babies) I got very clear about how far I’ve really come…and more importantly about how much MORE I am now ready to share.
Without a doubt: The 5+ years I spent coaching with my own mentor, Bob Proctor, was the foundation of my own transformation, because Bob never for a second allowed me to back away from the real work I needed to do to breakthrough, achieve, and BE GREAT.
Plus: The knowledge & hands-on experience I gained in the highest circles of the coaching industry during its infancy is one of the reasons the world’s top coaches continuously reach out to me for advise & guidance.
And so, my message to you today is simple, sincere & very clear:
If you want to change your life…
1. Choose the most knowledgeable, most successful, most Spirit-lead mentor you know of;
2. Get out your credit card, and immediately commit (before fear pushes you back down) to your own growth by paying for a program under that mentor that matches your highest goals;
(Yes, there is a lot of wonderful free information available, including on my own blog. Your investment, however, is what makes the difference between being 100% committed to stepping into your own greatness, and just being content to wish for change. The energy of your investment is your promise to yourself to step up, no matter what.)
3. Do each task your mentor asks of you ~ no matter how difficult or scary ~ without excuse or complaint, and give every task your very best effort, every time;
4. Be grateful for the opportunity to follow, in order to BE your best (because your mentor is holding you to YOUR greatest potential);
5. Celebrate yourself, every change you make, all your successes, and even your mistakes. You’re living your life at full tilt!! There simply is nothing better.
Because: I absolutely would NOT have been sharing this time in Malibu with my daughters last week if:
One) I had let fear be the decision-maker in my life;
and
Two) I hadn’t followed the best leader in my awareness, and given his mentorship my full trust and unwavering commitment.
Sharing this week in Malibu with my daughters was such a celebration for me.
I am so very grateful.
And I am newly inspired to reach new heights myself.
Are you with me?

How To Make A Decision

I’m about to share with you the most impactful piece of instruction I was ever given. And that is: the spiritual way to make a decision.
When you are presented with a decision, there are only four questions that you need to consider.
You don’t have to do a report on the situation or tons of research. You don’t need to know how you will accomplish your goal.
Just answer the four questions below. They will give you all the verification you need.
1. Is this opportunity something that I want to be, do or have?
Yes or no? It’s as simple as that.
If you want the opportunity, go on to Question 2.
If your answer is no, the decision is made. Don’t go any further.
Remember, the universe guides us through desire. If you don’t truly want an opportunity, let it go.
2. Is being, doing or having this going to take me closer to my goal / heart’s desire / life’s purpose?
When I was working on the dock and deciding whether to leave, the answer to this question was yes, leaving would take me closer to my life’s purpose.
When you settle on a goal, leaving your current situation is often the first thing you have to consider. That’s because that situation was created out of your old belief system.
I had to release my job before anything else could happen. I had to create room in my life for the good that the universe wanted to bring me.
3. Is being, doing or having this in harmony with the laws of the universe?
For an opportunity to be in harmony with the laws of the universe, it would have to create more life for all and less to none. It would have to add to your life without taking away from another person’s life.
Will the opportunity expand my life?
Will it add to my soul?
Will it contribute to my being more of who I truly am?
Will it make me more whole?
Will it improve my life financially?
Will it add to my security?
If the situation contributes more to your life, then it should also add to the lives of others. The more in touch you are with the divine side of yourself, the more you will contribute to the lives of other people.
4. Is being, doing or having this going to violate the rights of others?
By embracing the opportunity, would you be taking away another person’s ability to choose? Every human being has the basic right to choose for him or herself. You don’t want to take that away.
against another person, but think about this: what if you had a client who changed his or her mind about working with you. Would you let that person out of the contract?
I say, let the person go. Don’t take away his or her choice. Trying to force the person to stay comes from a place of lack. Just go get another client.
Remember, if you have to drag them in, you have to drag them around. You want clients who love working with you, not someone who might bad-mouth you around town.
Scoring Your Results
If you answered yes to the first three questions and no to the fourth question, you have the universe’s support to move forward. You can step fully into your decision and everything you need will begin to show up like clockwork.
Making a decision using only these criteria will set you free.

Thank you for this article. Decision-making has always been a challenge for me. It’s helpful to see it broken down into concrete questions and steps.
The area where I often struggle with decision-making is in timing, and weeding through all the potential opportunities to find the one that is right for me in the moment. Sometimes the opportunity is something that I want, but it may not be right for me in that moment. Or, as is often the case, there are dozens of opportunities that I want to be a part of, and I can only choose one or two. It is a challenge to know which one(s) to choose now, and which to save for later.
Thanks Steph. There should be no “weeding through” of opportunities when it feels right. I suggest that you go with your heart as it never steers you wrong. This is a good problem to have, ample opportunities surround you. Move forward without fear knowing that you are taking a step in the right direction simply by taking the step. Appreciate the post.
Hi David,
I am glad to say that I answered yes to the first three questions above. I believe I have chosen the right path in my career and I really love the idea of owning my own successful business.
But here lies the problem!
What do you do when you have been following your dreams for two years but have had zero success?
Everyday I feel like I have a broken heart. A nervous stomach. I question myself. I feel useless. I feel like I am in a cycle of worry and it is hindering my progress.
Don’t get me wrong, I have so many good things in my life. I married the girl of my dreams 16 months ago and we are expecting our first child in November. Everything in life is great except for the fact that I am broke, in some debt, getting nowhere and worried sick about the future.
Do I give up on my dream and try find a job to help support my family or do I stick with it until the bitter end?
I’d love to hear back from you David and get some words of wisdom and advice from you. I have so much ambition but I am completely stuck. I have the basis of a very good business but I seriously need things to start happening for me now.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Colin
Thanks for the post Colin. By the sounds of it there is a disconnect with what you are currently doing where you see yourself being. You have not completely “burned the ships” and are holding onto something that no longer serves you. Have you spoken to my lead coach Steph yet? She is who I refer individuals to when they are faced with this kind of situation. Drop her a line at steph@davidneagle.com and let her know I sent you. You are not meant to struggle.
David,
First, thank you very much for coming into in my life 2 1/2 yrs ago. I had been in a car accident, going through treatment, etc. I prayed to G-d for guidance and help. I knew all the suffering with my accident and my mother’s health issues could not be my true purpose. Then while reading an email, my eye caught something on the side bar. That lead me you and a few others. You were the only that resonated with me. I immediately signed up for your e-zine.
Many things have happened since then but you have been a source of inspiration and comfort as strange as that may seem. During this time, I healed from my accident (just a little stiff), closed my construction company, and my mother passed away at the end of last summer. Yet, I firmly believe all these things are to help me get to were I am suppose be at in my life, even if I am unsure what or where it will lead me. One thing is for sure: I am here to help others.
This article really helped me with decision making process like nothing ever before. So for this am eternally grateful. Soon, I also will be one of your private clients. I very much believe this to be true.
Believe, For All Things Are Possible Despite The Obstacles That May Present Themselves, For All Obstacles Are Merely Tests Of Character.
Sincerely,
Daily
Thank you for sharing your story Daily. It is inspirational to hear that all of the things you have manifested in your life have led you to this point; which allows you to see more clearly what is in store for you. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you….all it takes is a decision. I so appreciate the post.
Thank you so much. This keeps me inspired and reaching for my goal.

Hi David,
I want to tell you that this article changed my life. I was miserable in my job for years and wanted to quit and start my own business but for years was too scared to take any kind of action.
I started following you Spring 2011 not really knowing who you were at the time (and I honestly can’t even recall how I found you). I read this newsletter and then made my decision to take a leap of faith and quit my job and start my full time virtual assistant business. Your words “I had to release my job before anything else could happen. I had to create room in my life for the good that the universe wanted to bring me.” carried me through the scariest decision I ever made in my life! I have never looked back and have never felt so happy, alive, and in control of my future.
This month marks my first year anniversary which made me think about this article and how it changed my life.
Thank you David! One day I will meet you and work directly with you
Kim
PS: I’m loving your new book, The Millions Within!
