Exponential Growth

Post 199 of 250

Most people operate with the mindset that success comes one step at a time. We visualize the proverbial ladder of success and believe that rung by rung is the only way to get to the top.

That is the path of conventional growth, incremental gains, but it’s not the only way to succeed.

As Price Pritchett writes in his book, You2, you can make an explosive jump in your personal performance that moves you directly from your present level of achievement to one that is several stages higher.

The concept is one of exponential gains rather than incremental progress. Think of multiplying instead of adding. That’s exciting as well as provocative.

It gets even better. Quantum leaps can come without apparent effort. These high-velocity moves carry you to dramatically higher performance levels without struggle.

They are not complex or intricate maneuvers. They tend to be simple, energy-efficient and time-saving. In other words, you’re working smarter, not harder.

After the fact, quantum leaps may even be viewed as practical, sensible and obvious moves, but they typically do not seem like that at first. Usually it’s only in retrospect that you perceive their hidden logic and elegance.

The moves may be simple, but getting you to the place where you’re willing to make them will demand a radical departure from some of your habits. As I said before, you have to think and act in new ways. Unconventional success calls for unconventional approaches.

Quantum leaps also require paradoxical behavior, unusual moves and actions that on the surface often seem to contradict common sense.

Are you ready to get specific about how to begin your leap?

Work On Your Business Not In It

You’ve probably had the experience of stepping away from something in your life in order to get a detached view of what’s going on. That is crucial for your business as well, but most people don’t take the time to do it. They work in their business, rather than on it, becoming more and more enmeshed and unable to see its problems clearly or see that they, themselves, may be part of the problem.

Here is an exercise that can help you gain perspective on your business, as well as come up with new ideas and approaches:

Ask yourself: What am I doing in my business that makes total common sense? Make a list of those things. Your list may include anything that comes up for you. Someone I know listed performing tasks in her business that others could do because she couldn’t afford to hire the help.

I’m not saying that you should necessarily stop doing the things on your list, but take a close look at it and ask yourself: Why does this have to be done this way? Is there another way that would give me 10 times the result and wouldn’t take as much effort as what I’m doing?

Don’t just think about this exercise. I want you to do it.

Spend the time to enlarge your perspective and let yourself be open to new ideas. Just let them come, uncensored. Unlocking your mind, letting yourself be inspired, is crucial for the exponential growth that really is possible for you.

And if you put into practice your new ideas and approaches, you might just be surprised by their significant effect.

David-

I love this! This furthers the advice you gave your mastermind group to ‘work at being more effective and not busy’. I took your advice and am BLOWN AWAY by the results. Not only am I less distracted, stressed and busy, but I increased my income in 2 weeks by 200%!! One phone call made me $20,000! Now I will put Quantum Leap in my steps as well… Can’t wait to see what happens. Thank you! You are priceless!
