Do you talk yourself out of your own dreams?

Post 131 of 250

This week’s question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Patty.

Question:

Hi David!

I’ve spent the last 15 years in a job that I don’t love. And for the last 5 years I’ve had a voice inside of my head telling me to leave and start my own coaching business. I’m a certified life coach. I’m really great at seeing what others don’t and I know that I can help so many people. I just can’t seem to let go of my job, because I’m afraid that I won’t be able to find clients, they won’t pay me, I’ll make a mistake, or I won’t be able to earn enough money to replace my current income. How do I get UNSTUCK?

Answer:

The first step in anything is to make a decision.

It’s interesting to me that you’ve talked yourself out of your dream even before you’ve made a decision. Your ego is powerful, and all of those thoughts are created out of fear from your ego and designed to keep you EXACTLY where you are.

I speak to many entrepreneurs who share this same fear. Some describe it as “the fear of the unknown”.

So let me ask you this question.

Do you think money comes from people?

If you answered yes, you are dead WRONG.

The truth is that money comes from Spirit THROUGH people. That means that no matter what you do, real estate, life coaching, fry cooking, or floor cleaning, any money that you receive comes from Spirit.

You will always be taken care of.

If your heart’s desire is to become a life coach, it would be selfish of you to resist. That’s right, selfish. Do you know why?
Because Universal Law states that you can’t have a desire without the resources to fulfill that desire already present. This means that there are people out there waiting for your help, waiting for you to step into your brilliance. And you’re keeping yourself from them.

Honestly, I felt the same way at one time in my life; after all, I was a high school dropout, working on the loading docks in Chicago, not knowing how I was going to pay my bills.

Where would I be right now, had I listened to all those inner fears?

So, you need to make a decision.

And whenever you don’t believe in yourself, believe in my belief in you.

You are welcome Zaheda. Those obstacles are merely distractions keeping you from moving forward. Realizing that and breaking through it are pivotal for your success. I appreciate the comment.

This is interesting, I was having many excuses and talking out of my dreams, the reality is that most of the time we are so unclear about the ‘dream’ that we are scared to act upon it. Even though I’m brave and do act upon my desire or dream, I still have to go through evaluation of it. It is not as simple as it seems. It needs a lot of trust in universe to be able to make a ‘decision’. That is the difficult part! Thank you David for sharing your advise!

You’re welcome Solvita. I would argue that It is as simple as it seems, if you are truly clear on your desire. If for some reason you find yourself struggling and “evaluating” the process every step of the way, then perhaps you are not doing what you should be doing. For certain, we don’t go in w/ blinders on, but we do trust that we are on the right path because we believe it in our bodies. Take a closer look at that the next time you are faced with a barrier and keep me posted on your results. Thanks for the post.

Dear Patty,
I understand how you feel! I felt the same way 5 years ago. What I found is that as soon as I made the decision to follow my passion, there was nothing that could stop me. I left my cushy fat paycheck, company SUV, expense account and the only career I’d ever known. I have NEVER looked back! You deserve to follow your passion!
Yours in liberation, Shann

Thanks for the encouragement Shann. And congratulations for stepping away from what we perceive as security and doing what you love. Standing by your decision is an inspiration to us all!

I LOVE that distinction of coming THROUGH not FROM.

Thanks for this.

You’re welcome Patricia! Post it in a prominent place and refer to it often…

‘Just Believe’, David – I love that! I was fortunate to evolve into my online coaching business. Over 22 years in the real estate lending/financial industry I had many jobs and my career took me to upper management at which point I found out that being an independant contractor produced many more opportunities for me. As an independant contractor, I built and managed my destiny for success and profits. I loved it. BUT, recently not longer love the industry since it has taken a turn I didn’t want to take.

So I agree with you David — make a decision and go fot it. I was able to retire from my ‘career’ June 1, 2010 and am enjoying the tremendous opportunity of building and growing my online coaching business. If it wasn’t for social marketing, I wouldn’t have the success in such a short time. So for those on the fence, make the decision, jump in and never, ever give up.
