3 Steps to Forming a New Belief

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone Anne.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

How do you get a new belief from your conscious brain into your subconscious brain?

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks so much for this GREAT question!

If you want to move a new belief from your conscious brain into your subconscious brain, you need to do 3 things:

  1. First, you want to visualize it.
    • Whatever the belief is — see it, create it with your imagination, and see yourself in it… as if you were in the first person. Not seeing yourself from outside of it, but looking from the inside out.
    • For example, if you want to create the belief that you’re going to get a new house, you would see yourself living in the new house — similar to seeing yourself in your current home now. There’d be no difference in your mind.
  1. Secondly, you need to get emotionally involved in the belief. Feel what it’d be like to already live there. The more emotionally involved you are in the belief, the more you sink it into your subconscious. Then at that point, it’s about repetition.
  1. Finally, whatever the belief is, you want to take the corresponding actions needed to produce the new result, so that your subconscious mind can’t argue about the belief on any level.

When it comes to money, people say all the time, “Oh, I want to be millionaire.” They’ll repeat to themselves, “I’m a millionaire. I’m a millionaire. I’m a millionaire.” But they don’t get emotionally involved with that statement or do anything that would cause them to be a millionaire.

So nothing happens.

You could say that statement till you’re blue in the face. But your subconscious mind will say, “Yeah dude, that’s great, but your bank account’s still negative.” That’s what allows doubt to creep into our mind.

If you want to become a millionaire, allow yourself to feel abundant, excited, and enthusiastic about what you’re doing. Go out and make sales, and actually see your revenue number going up. Then it’s easier to walk away from that voice of doubt. Nothing actually shuts it up. That’s a misnomer. We starve it out by not giving it attention.

All three of these are key — 1) visualizing the new belief, 2) getting emotionally involved in it, and 3) taking the actions needed to produce the new result.

If you mix it up the wrong way, it never works. If you do the work, yet constantly tell yourself, “This sucks”… or, “It’s never going to happen”… then you’re wasting your own time. You won’t ever change your belief.

It needs to be a positive confirmation in the direction you want to go or what you want to believe. You have to have an emotional expectation of reaching your goal, feeling that it’s already here, it’s already done. You have to take action based on the law of cause and effect — action that will create the result you want. Then you have to experience it, so you get the feedback of actually doing it in your life.

If you do this consistently, your belief will change in a short period of time. It doesn’t take long to change a belief.

I can’t ask for money

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I've lived the Law of Attraction for years now and all but one part of my life “clicks.” My bills are paid. My new desires are met. I love what I do and find that incoming jobs come to me at the perfect time. I'm so happy I could bust, except for this one thing.

I find it gut-wrenching to charge for my work. When I invoice, I rarely charge what the work was worth. I am excellent at what I do, as my clients will attest. I have good self-esteem. I just prefer to do what I love and let the Universe provide.

I'd like to step up my income and move to the next level, which will mean charging what my quality of work is worth. Can you help?

Neagle Code Answer

I love this question…

I need to tell you something, and I’m typing it with nothing but love.

You don’t have a good self-esteem.

If you did, you wouldn’t be afraid of the rejection you would have to deal with when you begin to charge what you’re worth.

Above you said that you’re excellent at what you do, and that your clients will attest to it. So tell me, if this is the case, why would you find it gut-wrenching to charge for your work?

You prefer to do what you love and let the Universe provide because you are afraid of what will need to happen for you to grow. You would need to stand in your power, be confident and not be afraid of hearing the word, “no”.

And let me tell you something, the Universe doesn’t “provide” anything. You create it. And right now you are creating just enough to get by.

You see Spirit doesn’t speak to you through fear, therefore, it’s not Spirit that’s making it gut-wrenching to charge for your services.

It’s your ego.

Your ego knows that you are afraid of rejection and judgment from others, and so it uses that belief to stop you from growing.

Charging what you’re worth means that you would need to grow into being that person, and that’s something your ego DOES NOT want you to do because it views any kind of growth as a risk.

So, what are the services you offer worth?

Pick a number.

Can you see yourself feeling good about asking for that price for what you offer?

Write it down and practice saying it out loud. Make it feel real to you.

THEN

In your next sales conversation ask for that price.

It’s the only way to push through that gut-wrenching fear.

Do you have rate guilt?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Brandi T.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I am a massage therapist and have a lot of guilt around asking for what I really want to charge clients. I was raised with the paradigm of: It is wrong to charge a man dying of thirst $100 for a glass of water and wrong to deny a starving man food, particularly if I have more than enough, so I’m having a hard time justifying selling a service that people of all income levels need, but which most people truly cannot afford. I know I’m not thinking about this accurately, but I’m still stuck in it. HELP!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Brandi!

I know a lot of small business owners who struggle with this same concept.

First of all, I don’t quite think your comparison makes a whole lot of sense. Charging a dying man $100.00 for a glass of water doesn’t really compare with charging your fees.

Here’s the deal…it is not your responsibility to save the world.

If it were, you’d be the only massage therapist in the world.

The truth is that you’re looking at this all wrong.

The LAW states that if someone has a strong enough desire for something, the money MUST be there. What you’re talking about is no different.

And your responsibility is for yourself only (and any dependent children, of course).

Here’s how I suggest you look at your fees.

Your fees MUST be set on your personal financial goals AND the value of the service that you offer. The value of what you offer must exceed the fees that you’re charging.

The people who have the ability or willingness to pay you, WILL

And those who do not will find someone else to help them.

It’s a win-win situation. You get to work with the people who you really enjoy working with, and people who aren’t willing to pay your fees will pay someone else to work with them.

More life to all.

Do you charge for your time?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Gary V.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I’ve done what you recommend. I’ve tried to work from my vision and set my financial goals. I have my number, and I know what that money would be used for…and what I will provide in exchange for that money. Here’s my issue: I cannot stop thinking about time. In my line of work, people generally pay for time rather than a result. And the truth is, people aren’t paying me for time, they ARE paying for a result. I also see others in my industry who are making a lot of money by NOT charging for their time, so I know this is a barrier in my own mind.

How do I shift this???

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Gary!

Thanks for the great question. Making the switch from charging by the hour to charging for a specific result is really challenging for a lot of small business owners and service providers.

It requires them to not only step out of the “norm”; it requires them to really

OWN
THEIR
WORTH.

And I have a hunch this is what you’re struggling with.

Here’s the truth… exchanging time for money is a middle class value.

A VERY high percentage.

But if you’re in a business that sells results, it makes NO sense to charge by the hour.

There are a several things that are required to shift this:

1) You need to make a firm decision that you are changing your pricing structure.

2) You need to be committed and disciplined that no matter what, you will not offer your hourly rate to ANYONE

3) You need to focus your marketing efforts on the “right” prospects and clients.

4) You need to hone your sales skill so that you can accurately convey the value of the result you are going to provide.

Just a word of caution here.

Your mind will try to convince you of ALL the reason this won’t work.

And it’s a lie.

It will work if you will step into your worth and demand your success.

Do not waffle. Stay firm in your pricing.

And you’ll be surprised how fast your bank account will grow.

Free yourself from the freebie mentality

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Marianne V.

Neagle Code Question

Dearest David,

I think I may need a bop on the head. I am so used to over servicing my clients and “gifting” my acquaintances and friends with my services, that I’m bleeding myself dry. I know I need to reverse this pattern but I’m just not sure how. Any suggestions on what I need to do to stop this and charge ANYONE what I’m worth?

Thank You!

Neagle Code Answer

Great question! I addressed a similar question on my blog in 2013…here was my response:

Charging what you’re worth is simply a decision.

And the truth is, if you don’t find enough value in what you have to offer to charge for it, others won’t see the value either.

So you need to make the decision that no matter what, you will not give your advice, services or insight away for free.

If someone asks you for help, even if they are a friend, say to them, “I’d love to help. Let’s set up a time to talk about your goals and aspirations so that I can clearly recommend next steps for you.”

On that call, clearly re-state the purpose of the call, make sure you take control by asking questions, and make recommendations of which program or service will get them to their goals the quickest.:

From now on, you will set your prices based on your financial goals rather than your emotions. And you will never make an offer to someone that is not in line with your financial goals.

You have to hold yourself to these agreements even if you feel it threatens your relationship with friends or clients.

By doing this you will begin to see that people WILL pay you what you believe you are worth.:

You’re not reversing a subconscious pattern; you’re creating a new one.

How to Eliminate Price Objections

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Dijana.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

What would you do when you finally, after a struggle with your self-worth, set a price for your service that is true to you and then some potential clients in your industry tell you that your prices are outrageous, especially for a beginner. Top-notch people in the industry charge less than you.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Dijana and thanks for your question!

First of all, congratulations on setting a price for your services that are in alignment with who you are and what you offer! That is a task that many entrepreneurs struggle with.

What would I do? Honestly, I wouldn’t do anything!

There will always be people and messages that appear in your life to create doubt in your mind toward the decisions that you’ve made.

Remember: Your sub conscious mind will create whatever it needs to get you to go back to where it perceives you are safe.

Hold firm in your decision Dijana, and really ask yourself if these people who have told you that your prices are outrageous are your ideal clients.

I’m guessing they are not.

And the next time you get that objection, stand confident in your offerings and ask them,

“You believe this is expensive? Compared to what?”

This will tell you how they are approaching their buying decision and allow you to see what’s really going on in their mind.

“How do I stop trading time for money as a coach?”

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I hear you teaching about the pitfalls of exchanging time for money. I'm a coach… how on Earth do I NOT exchange time for money, when I'M the person who is fulfilling my programs?

I'm clearly confused. Can you please clarify?

Thanks!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi and thanks for the question!

What you want to get away from is trading dollars per hour in your business.

Instead of having an hourly rate, you have a package price. Determine how much your product or service is worth based on the result they are receiving, not how much time you are spending with them.

You can charge whatever you want as long as the outcome for the client is worth more to them in value than you receive in cash.

Working with a group of people rather than individuals is also a great way to leverage your time. You serve more people and earn more money spending the same amount of time as you would with one person.

And remember time spent one-on-one with you is always worth much, much more!

You’re the expert in your business.

Be creative, have fun and charge what you’re worth.
