Clients Keep Cancelling on Me

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Anne.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I committed to doing a certain number of client sessions and sales conversations each day in my business. My issue is, the people whom I’m making appointments with keep canceling at the last minute. This has happened four times. Even someone I’ve worked with for three years cancelled at the last minute—and that’s not her MO at all.

I feel like I’m not keeping my commitments, and I’m sitting with the feelings of disappointment, sadness, being disrespected, and underneath that—betrayal. Is the universe reflecting something back to me? Am I playing a role in causing this? What do I do?

Neagle Code Answer

Okay, so you’re misunderstanding something. When it comes to commitments, you only want to make a commitment on things you have 100% control over.

When you’re making sales calls, committing to conversations, etc., you can only control so much of that. You can’t control what the other person does, or doesn’t do.

If this is a major issue where people are continually not keeping the appointment—now you have to go back and reevaluate—who are you marketing to? How are you getting those people in the door? Because that might need to be changed.

You’re doing a great job with your commitments. It’s not that you’re NOT meeting them.

Recognize where an adjustment needs to happen, so that you’re bringing in the right people who will keep the commitment.

As far as reflecting on your own feeling of betrayal—just go back to gratitude and awareness. Don’t take it personally. Don’t ever take anyone’s behavior personally.  If anything, they’re betraying themselves. They’re not keeping their own commitment. That should change things real quick.

Let’s say a person doesn’t keep the commitment. And then maybe a couple days later, another person doesn’t keep the commitment. All of a sudden you start focusing on that and start manifesting more of it.

Well, it wasn’t really a “pattern” before. You’re just over-focusing on it. That’s where you have to double down on using your vocabulary and words in the direction you want to go in.

Instead of repeating in your mind, “People aren’t keeping their commitments”— start telling yourself, “People ARE keeping their commitments on a regular basis, and I’m talking to people every day”… or whatever it is that you need to say to yourself.

P.S. Whenever you're ready… here are 3 ways I can help you grow YOUR business:

Why bother?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Carla T.

Neagle Code Question

David,

I’ve simply stopped setting goals. I resist even thinking about goals because my pattern is to not follow through. It’s happened so many times, that I think to myself, “Why bother…”

How do I finally break this pattern?

Thanks so much!

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks for the question!

I’m going to skip trying to understand why you’re sabotaging yourself and go right to the solution.

If you’re really committed to changing this, do exactly as I tell you below and sooner rather than later you’ll be on your way to success!

First, start with DAILY goals.

That’s right. We’re not talking about 6 and 12-month goals right now, we’re going to start small and build to strengthen your self-confidence muscle over time.

Tonight before you go to bed, take out your notebook and pen and right down

THREE things you MUST accomplish before
you go to bed tomorrow.

I recommend that these be income generating “things”, but it’s ultimately up to you. Sometimes it’s best to start REALLY small.

When you wake up tomorrow, put that list in front of you, and DO NOT GO TO BED THAT NIGHT until all 3 of those items are completed.

You must be disciplined here…do not allow yourself to make excuses and DO NOT GO TO BED until you’ve checked those three things off your list.

Do the same thing tomorrow night.

Write down three ”things” you need to accomplish the next day, and the next day, don’t go to sleep until all 3 things are accomplished.

Setting these small, yet important, goals are small stair steps to your bigger goal and to developing the discipline, confidence and trust within yourself to succeed in whatever you put your mind to.

Once you master the daily goals, begin setting weekly goals on top of your daily goals!

You’ll gain momentum quickly and break the pattern of not following through.

These 10 steps work, no matter what time of year

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I want 2018 to be my best year yet…and to be honest, 2017 has been a bit of a disappointment. Can you give me some pointers to help me start the New Year off on the right foot and ensure I’m doing what’s necessary to create what I actually WANT this year?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and Happy New Year!!

When we are ready to make a commitment, the evidence of how serious we are always shows up in two places first.

Our calendar and our finances.

We make the time to not only create a plan, but to carry that plan out every day, and we are willing to invest financially in whatever it takes to manifest our commitment. So, if it's not showing up in those two places first, then chances are it's just an intention and will quickly disappear shortly after the ball drops on New Year’s Eve.

Here is a plan that will turn any desire into a commitment so that it becomes a reality in 2018:

1. Become very clear on what you want. Build a vision as clear as you can and write it down in great detail. You might also want to create a vision board to go with your writing of your vision.

2. Understand where you are in your own growth so that you have an accurate place to start when creating your committed plan for success.

3. Decide what you must let go of to make room for your desire and commitment. Remove anything that does not support your new commitment from your daily life and habits.

4. Allow yourself to become emotionally involved in your new commitment. Fall in love with every aspect of what you need to Be, Do and Have in order to be fully committed to the process and the outcome.

5. Create daily activities that allow you to build momentum in your new behaviors in order to keep your commitment.

6. Spend short frequent times during your day to write and speak of your commitment as if it were actually completed.

7. Before you get out of bed in the morning and before you go to sleep each night, find 3 things to be grateful for that day and 3 things that you appreciate about yourself that day. This will keep you focused on the good that happens each day, even if something goes wrong that day.

8. Measure your success at least once per week. If we can't see how we are progressing, we will focus on what is not working and will be more likely to break our commitment.

9. Help someone else keep their commitment. This will help you reprogram your thinking and keep you excited at the same time.

10. Never give up. No matter what happens, never let your inner voice agree with any reason that your subconscious mind comes up with for you to quit. Refuse to be denied your success.

I promise you that if you follow this plan with whatever you truly desire in 2018, you will create it and every commitment that comes after will be easier.

[5 Pillars of Influence Article Series] Article #13 ~ Secure Their Commitment and Create Momentum

In this series, I’ve been showing you how to close sales in 15-20 minutes. That’s how long it should take you to ask the four main questions of the discovery conversation, which I shared with you last time.

If you asked the fourth question, “How badly do you want your situation to change,” with a compassionate authority that encourages your prospects to be authentic, they’re likely to have an emotional reaction.

They may be in tears. They may be excited. Or somewhere in between. But however they respond, by that response, you will know whether or not they’re in.

Secure the Sale
Let’s say they are going to buy. That’s the outcome I’m fully expecting you to experience as you apply these five pillars.

With their authenticity, with their laughter or tears, they’re saying to you, “Yes! This is what I want. I’m committing to you emotionally. Give me a directive as to what to do.”

In a moment, I’ll demonstrate the wording to use, but what you need to do at this point is secure their commitment. Ask them for their credit card number.

Ideally, you can turn the call over to an assistant, who can get the number, give the person a contract, and get him or her on your calendar.

But whether or not you’re the one taking their details, it’s crucial that after you secure their commitment and before you get off the phone with them, you take the next step of creating momentum.

Create Momentum
Creating momentum means that you give them something to do that gives them an immediate taste of the transformation that’s to come.

If you don’t create momentum for your clients right away, if they have to wait weeks before your event or program begins, they’re very likely to go into buyer’s remorse and start wondering if they’ve made the right decision.

So give them a step of their solution immediately, perhaps an exercise to do, and at the end of the call, briefly describe the powerful outcome the client should expect.

Commitment + Momentum = Powerful Outcomes for All

For instance, I might say:
“That’s great, Helen. Give me a credit card, and let’s get this going. I’m so excited for you right now that you’ve made this decision. Your life is going to be so different over the next year that you’re not going to believe it.

“I’m going to pass you on to Liz, now, who is going to get every call for the year set up for you and give you the first exercise I want you to do. So we’ll be set up for our very first call, and I’ll talk to you in a couple of days. Sound great? Perfect.”

That’s it.

Don’t go fishing for doubt by asking them if they have any questions. Any questions they have can be dealt with after the call.

Leave them on that high note of feeling that they’ve gotten what they wanted.

Let them relish in their commitment and the beginning of the powerful momentum that will take them where they’ve been wanting to go for a very long time.

How to up-level your lifestyle from your current income

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Hollis.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David, I would like to understand how to deal with (bridge, perhaps?) the two worlds of knowing what lifestyle I want to lead and actively desiring it, and also being aware of where I currently am financially. Do I go ahead and spend/give the money my desired life costs, all the while knowing the “reality” of my bank account (at least in this moment) won't necessarily support the numbers (e.g., do we be OK with overdraft fees and/or a maxed line of credit)? In other words, how do we ascend responsibly?

Thanks for all your love and wisdom, David!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Hollis and thanks for your great question.

Rule 1: Never spend without the willingness to do what’s necessary to cover what you are spending.

Sometimes spending and giving money is the catalyst to get you to become aware of opportunities around you right now that would allow you to make the money required to create the lifestyle that you want.

Rule 2: Always make financial decisions from a place of where you want to go rather than where you are right now.

If you consistently make decisions based on your “current reality”, your “current reality” will never change, because you’ll never have a need to change.

Therefore, make your decisions based on where you want to be, and then follow that decision with the commitment to do whatever is necessary to fulfill the commitment of the decision.

You see, there’s absolutely no reason for you to ever be ok with overdraft notices…the truth is, you have the ability to bring in whatever money you need to fulfill those commitments.

If you’re not bringing that money in it’s because you are resisting doing something.

How to up-level your way to 7-figures

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

David I've heard you teach recently that you need to spend your way to a million dollars. Can you explain a little more about what that means?

Thanks so much for your time and message!

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks for the question!
What I mean when I say you have to spend your way to a million is you have to be willing to invest in your own growth.

If you’re not willing to invest in yourself and your business, you will never make it to a million. For you to grow and your business to grow you have to up-level.

You have to believe that you can earn a certain amount of money. Then you make financial commitments that will give you enough pressure to get to work. You want to commit to the next level, but not so much that you fold under the pressure.

When you’re too comfortable with where you are, it doesn’t create urgency to change and you won’t do what you have to do to earn the money you want.

It is easier to stay in your comfort zone than to go beyond it; therefore if you don’t create the urgency that forces you out of it, you will get just to the edge of your comfort zone, but not far enough to really create change.

So raise your standard of living and buy that new car or that new thing you want.

But remember, you also have to raise your standard in your work to bring in the money to pay for it.

Keep doing this and your income will continually increase month after month all the way to a million.

[Goal Setting Series]Article #10 ~ Everything You Need to Manifest Your Goal

Over the past several months, I've shown you how to set goals that utilize the power of the Universe. In this final article of the series, I'm giving you all of the main steps again to get you started on changing your life.

Here are those 10 crucial steps:

1. Remove Time from the Equation

To move past the human barriers that prevent you from having what you truly desire, you must first remove any timeframes from your goal.

Timeframes on a goal are usually based on what people think is possible. You may not know how your goal could manifest quickly, but the Universe might.

Let the Universe set the timing ~ and then you may be amazed by how quickly your goal manifests.

2. Go Beyond What You Think You Can Do

Again, most people set goals based upon what they think they can accomplish ~ not on what they truly desire or what they're actually capable of doing.

To begin to tap your limitless potential, let yourself fantasize.

Fantasy literally changes your brain's frequency, making it more receptive to ideas, desire and purpose from your soul.

It's truly the best way to discover what you really want. And it's crucial for receiving that prosperous idea that can take you light years from where you are today.

3. Receive Your Million-Dollar Idea

If you already experience the power of fantasizing, go to the place or do the thing that works for you.

If you don't know what that is, find a place that's beautiful and calming. Get comfortable and let your eyes rest. Don't “try” to fantasize, just relax and let your mind be free.

As images or feelings start to arise, ask yourself what you want, and then write down whatever comes to mind.

If this process doesn't work for you, try “catching” yourself fantasizing ~ in the shower is a likely place ~ and record what you see, hear or feel.

4. Are You Able and Willing?

To turn your fantasy into reality, you have to be able to say yes to these two questions:

“Am I able?” You've gone beyond what you thought you could do. Now, you need to muster the faith to believe in your ability to manifest your million-dollar idea. Do you feel excited? That's your gut saying YES, you're able.

“Am I willing?” Are you willing to do what must be done to manifest your goal? For example, move if necessary, invest financially in yourself, commit to living a new life?

5. Create an Environment to Support Your Goal

Once you declare that you are able and willing, it's vital that your environment begins to reflect your aspiration back to you on a daily basis.

To accomplish that, make two lists. The first is of the things, people and ideas that are not in harmony with your goal and should be removed from your life. The second is of those things that must come into your life to support your goal.

Once you make the lists, start acting on them immediately.

6. Make a Binding Commitment

Now it's time to commit yourself to your goal. In the present tense, write out your goal and sign and date the page. For example: “I commit to having a $10 million-dollar-a-year business.”

Remember, don't include any timeframes.

Then, make a goal card to carry with you and read several times a day to remind you that, according to Universal Law, your goal is already here.

On another piece of paper or index card, write: “I'm so happy and grateful now that ___________,” and write in your goal.

7. Get Attached

To start moving your idea from the nonphysical to the physical, you need to become emotionally involved in it.

Emotions are like the engines behind our thoughts. They give energy to your goal, sending it through time and space, prompting the Universe to start bringing you what you need to manifest it.

8. Raise Your Awareness

When you raise your awareness to the level of your goal, what you want shows up. It's yours.

To raise your level of awareness, you first have to know your current awareness and results.

Your current awareness is the closest you've ever come to your goal. If you have a money goal, it would be the most money you, alone, have ever earned in a year.

Your current results would be what you are earning this year.

Once you know those two figures, you know where you are, and all you have to do is make a firm decision to go to the next level of awareness, and then expect the opportunity to do that to show up.

9. Change, Adapt, Grow

Picture yourself at the bottom of a staircase with your goal at the top. The Universe has heard that you are ready and will meet you on the first stair with your opportunity.

Step up and into it. Make the change, adapt to the change and grow into that bigger version of yourself.

Then the Universe will meet you on the second stair with another opportunity that requires you to change, adapt and grow still larger than before.

You follow this same process all the way to your goal.

10. Cut Through the Chaos

Now, your subconscious will resist all this change and growth, and you may experience some chaos as the universe rearranges your life so that you can reach your goal.

Just remember that the upheaval is temporary while your goal is the ultimate prize.

To cut through the chaos, stay connected to the higher side of yourself. Follow the Seven Secrets of Multimillionaire Entrepreneurs: desire, decision, belief and faith in a higher power, love, responsibility, will and action.

They will deliver you to your goal.

Get Started

There is no limit to what you can achieve or be.

If you do each of these steps with unwavering commitment, you truly can have anything you desire.

You can create absolutely magnificent and astonishing things.

What do I charge my very first client?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

After attending your event, I've changed drastically, both personally and in my motivation to change the world. I have an opportunity to start working with a client, but this will be the first time I've worked in this capacity as my own employer (aka setting my own fees). Is it out of integrity to charge this person, given that I've never created my own exclusive program before, or is it coming from lack NOT to charge this person for my services? Thank you so much!

Answer:

Hi and thanks for your question!

If you made the decision not to charge for your services, I don't necessarily believe that the decision would be coming from a place of lack; however, I think it would be coming from a place of fear.

Be honest.

Do you have a fear that this first client will think you're too expensive if you charge?

Are you worried that you're not “good enough” to charge?

Are you afraid of the sales conversation?

Are you concerned that your first prospect will think you're “salesy” if you collect money for your services?

I teach all my coaching students that pricing should not be based on logistics; it should be based on the value of the outcome your client is to receive.

So ask yourself, how will my prospects life be changed after working with me? What is the value of that?

I see many people just entering the industry giving their services away for free only because of some inner fear.

There are several problems with this.

1) People value things they have to invest in and are more motivated and willing to do what needs to be done to experience change. If they haven't paid for your services there is a high possibility this person will quit, not get their results, and then blame you.

2) When a client doesn't pay for your services, there is not an equal exchange of energy, therefore, what tends to happen is you will spend a lot of time with this client and then end up resenting them because you are not being paid even though you did not ask to be paid.

3) You're looking to find validation and appreciation instead of to provide a service. This is a dangerous pattern, and it makes it very difficult to begin charging.

My recommendation would be for you to determine the value of your service (based on the outcome your client will receive), price it as such, and be confident in your sales conversation. (My CompassionateConversion.com home study is a great tool to help you do so.)

Always remember: Transformation begins with the commitment, and people commit financially.

[Goal Setting Series]Article #5 ~ Commit to your Goal

Over the past couple of months, I've been teaching you how to set and manifest goals that will truly make a difference in your life and the lives of everyone you touch.

To do that, you have to inspire yourself and commit to your goal.

Create the Ideal Environment for Your Goal

Your environment was created out of your old reality, so if you don't change it to reflect where you're going, it will keep pulling you back to where you've been.

To create the ideal environment to support your goal, first make a list of the things, ideas and people in your life that are not in harmony with your goal and should be removed.

Be really honest here ~ and brave.

It can be difficult to part ways, but do you really want to be held back by people who don't support your vision? Do you want to play small for fear of what others will think? Do you really want that cat-scratched sofa?

Once you've made the list of what to remove from your life, make another list of those things that must come in to support your goal.

For instance, you may have to go to a particular seminar. Hire a coach. Sell your house. Buy a car. Fly first class. Raise your prices or rates.

Whatever it is, don't bargain with the Universe. If God is showing you what to do, just step into it.

I have client after client who can pinpoint their rapid rise to the first time they bought a first-class plane ticket. They knew it was required, so they did it, and their lives were never the same.

Commit to Your Goal

Now it's time to make a binding commitment to manifest your dream.

This is a contract, so don't do it unless you're willing to commit 100% to your goal.

100% means it will manifest. Failure is not an option. If you sincerely come from that place, you will reach your goal.

You will manifest the money, the business, the girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse. You'll manifest the health, the social life, the house, the boat.

Whatever it is that you want, it will happen.

Write your commitment in the present tense. For instance, “I commit to having a $10 million-dollar-a-year business.” Then sign and date the page.

Now, on another piece of paper or an index card, make a goal card to carry with you and read several times a day. On that page, write: “I'm so happy and grateful now that ___________,” and write in your goal.

For instance, “I'm so happy and grateful now that I have a $10 million-dollar-a-year business.”

Remember, don't include any timeframes. The Universe is handling how and when your dream manifests.

You are taking the steps I've been showing you in this series, boldly doing what must be done and making an unwavering commitment to your goal.

Do that and you will manifest like crazy.

The Universe will knock itself out to help you reach your goal.
