How do I get unstuck in my business?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Mikaela Zion.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I feel really stuck. I have LOTS of ideas for my business, and yet, I sit paralyzed because I can’t make a decision about what I should do first. I’m afraid I’m going to choose “WRONG”.
HELP!!!

Neagle Code Answer

First, there is no such thing as a mistake. Everything you do, regardless of the results you experience, is bringing you closer to truth. All of those experiences force you to grow, and in the growth, you begin to discover who you are and what you want for your life.

Many entrepreneurs hesitate to get started on an idea because they are afraid of making a mistake. Actually they aren’t afraid of the mistake itself, they are afraid of what other people will think about their decision and outcome.

So you must first DECIDE.

Choose ONE of your ideas. It doesn’t really matter which one, just choose one that inspires you the most.

Then take ACTION on that decision. Don’t worry about the results, don’t fret about what people will think, and don’t stop.

You see Spirit won’t give you your entire plan. You must take action on the first step before the 2nd step will be shown. If you never take action, you’ll never see the next opportunity.

If you should fall flat on your first idea, be grateful for what you’ve learned from it, and continue to look for the next opportunity. It WILL be there.

You will either win or you will learn, in which case, either outcome is a GIFT.

How to up-level your lifestyle from your current income

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Hollis.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David, I would like to understand how to deal with (bridge, perhaps?) the two worlds of knowing what lifestyle I want to lead and actively desiring it, and also being aware of where I currently am financially. Do I go ahead and spend/give the money my desired life costs, all the while knowing the “reality” of my bank account (at least in this moment) won't necessarily support the numbers (e.g., do we be OK with overdraft fees and/or a maxed line of credit)? In other words, how do we ascend responsibly?

Thanks for all your love and wisdom, David!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Hollis and thanks for your great question.

Rule 1: Never spend without the willingness to do what’s necessary to cover what you are spending.

Sometimes spending and giving money is the catalyst to get you to become aware of opportunities around you right now that would allow you to make the money required to create the lifestyle that you want.

Rule 2: Always make financial decisions from a place of where you want to go rather than where you are right now.

If you consistently make decisions based on your “current reality”, your “current reality” will never change, because you’ll never have a need to change.

Therefore, make your decisions based on where you want to be, and then follow that decision with the commitment to do whatever is necessary to fulfill the commitment of the decision.

You see, there’s absolutely no reason for you to ever be ok with overdraft notices…the truth is, you have the ability to bring in whatever money you need to fulfill those commitments.

If you’re not bringing that money in it’s because you are resisting doing something.

How to Break the Debt Cycle

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Mikki.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I have been listening to your and realized a $ pattern I have perpetuated my entire adult life. The pattern has been to invest in school, and now my business, which creates debt. That in turn creates pressure to work to eliminate this debt, which I always have, only to turn around a repeat the same pattern. My question is now that I can clearly see this pattern how do I get to the root cause of it. I know it has nothing to do with the money or the debt but whatever belief or value is attached to the pressure that comes with this cycle.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Mikki, and thanks for your question!

Here’s the thing…getting to the root cause isn’t necessarily going to solve the problem, and it will just distract you from doing what’s necessary to change the pattern.

Sometimes it takes awhile to get to a root cause, and it’s even more difficult if you’re trying to do it yourself.

What I suggest is to start focusing on the solution to the issue rather than on the cause (which just keeps you in the pattern).

The solution is to RAISE YOUR BOTTOMLINE.

Right now, you’re used to only bringing in “just enough”. You have to raise that bottom bar.

For example, instead of setting your sights on just bringing in enough to survive, increase that to 10%, 20%, 30% ABOVE what you need to just get by.

And then DO NOT LET YOURSELF off the hook.

You see, it’s a two-part process. The first part is making the decision to bring in more than enough, the second part is being willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you hit that goal.

You may want to start with a small increase to begin to build that muscle, and once you hit that goal, use that momentum to keep going to the next goal.

You’ll have to keep those commitments to yourself or this won’t work. You must not stop prior to hitting the goal.

If you do, you’ll be back in the same pattern.

Give yourself this new experience of bringing in more than enough, and you’ll break the pattern!

How to step past fear into greatness

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Mike.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

How do you “be” the person you desire when your whole life has been filled with fear? Where do you get the strength and courage to step out of your paradigm?

Thanks so much!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Mike. Thanks for the question!

The first thing to realize is that everything comes from within you. As children, we are taught to look outward for validation of what the world is like. But the truth is that all experiences come from inside of you.

You get to decide who you want to be and what you want your reality to be. It is not determined by anyone else but you.

But, your reality won’t change until you start making new decisions.

See your current situation as a place to work from. Even if you aren’t currently the person that you need to be to go where you want to go, you can choose to be that person now.

What kind of person has what you want?

What are their characteristics?

Once you have that list, make a decision to start adopting those qualities as your own and be that person all the time.

Your desire to change has to be stronger than the fear you are feeling.

Fear is an illusion; a result of false programming that formed your current reality.

Once you believe more in the Truth than you do your own story, change will be automatic.

4 questions to overcome self-doubt

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Alison.

Neagle Code Question

I'm realizing that a “stuck-spot” for me is that I wait for permission or an “OK” from others before I move forward. How can I accept my own permission as just as good of a kick in the tail?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Alison. This is a great question!

Giving yourself permission to do something begins with making a decision to trust your inner desire.

What is it that you really want? When you know the answer to this question, it will point you in the right direction to receive it.

Instead of seeking validation from others that what you are doing is the right thing, look inward and ask yourself, “Is this something that I really want to do or is it something I think I should do based on what someone else is telling me?”

Once you know that it is your true desire, ask yourself four clarifying questions that will tell you if a decision you are making is the right one or not.

These questions are:

1. Is this something I want to be, do or have?
2. Is being, doing, or having this taking me closer to my goal?
3. Is being, doing or having this in alignment with Universal Law? (More life to all-does it add to other’s lives?)
4. Does being, doing or having this violate the rights of others? (Meaning does it take away another person’s right to choose).

You are looking for 3 yeses and a no. When you are experiencing indecision, using the four questions above will help you see clearly which direction to take.

Once you know the answer, the rest is up to you. If the direction you’re taking is truly what you want, you can’t go wrong in following it regardless of what others might say.

You are the only expert on you.

Honor yourself by taking responsibility for your own decisions, follow your desire and you will get what you want every time.

As you do this time and time again, your self-esteem will grow and you won’t even think about seeking permission from someone else.

How do I change my biz model?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Erin.

Neagle Code Question

First and foremost David, I want to thank you for being an invaluable source of knowledge for me. As a fitness nutrition coach, I work with clients within a certain timeline (typically 12 weeks). In most cases, I feel that the people I work with have just begun to make lasting lifestyle changes as the 12 weeks come to an end and I have so much more to offer.

How can I change my model of service to continue to meet the individual needs of my clients? Do I create another package and have them sign up? How about a monthly fee?

Thanks so much!

Neagle Code Answer

You are very welcome Erin. I am happy that my teachings are of value to you.

Thank you for asking the question! If I'm reading this correctly, you are currently offering one package and you are asking how to expand your services so that your clients have a next step to reinforce their learning and not lose the momentum of the progress that they have made and keep growing, as well as grow your business.

There are a number of ways that you can do this.

• Add a one-on-one continuation package to individually get them to the next level of results (maybe intermediate or gold or platinum packages)

• Charge a monthly fee to continue the 12-week program

• Start a membership for a monthly fee for group programs (maybe one for each level of success they've reached)

• Create virtual programs around individual problem areas and sell them as an up-sell

Joint Venture with Yoga or Fitness studios to expand your reach

• Offer cooking classes or group walks or runs to build your community

The ways to do this are only limited by your imagination.

Know what your market wants.

Know what you enjoy doing – how you want to work with your clients and how you can best serve them.

And, know what you are willing to do as well as what you are not willing to do.

But remember…

It all starts with a decision.

Once you make the decision to create something new, you will become aware of the opportunities.

How do I find my real purpose?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Amanda.

Neagle Code Question

I understand about purpose, do what you love and the money will follow but I don't have a clue what I should be doing. How do I find my purpose?

Neagle Code Answer

Amanda, thank you for the question.

Finding your purpose comes from knowing who you truly are and what you desire. Your purpose is already within you and it isn’t something you look for outside yourself.

I’m sure you’ve heard my story about my boating accident where I almost died after being sucked into a dam. When I was hanging onto a tree branch for dear life, I made a promise to God that I would figure out why I hadn’t been able to do the things that I knew I should have been doing. And then do them.

Right after the accident, nothing happened. God didn’t tell me what to do. After much frustration, I realized God wasn’t going to tell me what to do. I had to make that decision myself. I started by asking myself, “What am I going to do with the rest of my life?”

At first I didn’t know the answer. I kept asking myself the question and then answers began to come forward. The first three answers I received and acted upon were to:

1. Change my attitude

2. Treat everyone with total respect

3. Do everything to the best of my ability.

Now, this didn’t immediately give me the answer to my life purpose. It did help me to change and to raise my awareness. Whenever we raise our awareness, we discover more of who we truly are. The more we know who we truly are, the more answers we’re given about our unique gifts we have to share with the world.

The key here, Amanda, is to continue to ask yourself conscious questions to raise your awareness of who you are. Everyday, ask yourself, “What am I going to do with the rest of my life?” and “What do I really want?”

Just as I did and continue to do, follow the answers you are given as if they were bread crumbs creating a path and you will find yourself living your “purpose.”

David, I have really loved you Art of Success Program. I'm experiencing amazing breakthroughs in my life because of it. My question for you relates to my indecisiveness. I'm great at seeing opportunities, but how do I know which opportunities to take? I don't want to be steered off course, and yet, I want to make sure I'm leaving no stone unturned.

Thanks!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Mike.

Congratulations on creating your amazing breakthroughs and thanks for asking this question!

Making quick decisions is a trait shared by all successful people.

That means it's important that you learn how to recognize which opportunities to take advantage of and which to say no to quickly and with confidence.

Fortunately, I have a solution for you.

It is a system that is simple to use and works for me and thousands of my clients.

It's a series of four questions to ask yourself about every opportunity.

1. Is this something I want to be, do or have?

2. Is being, doing or having this taking me closer to my goal?

3. Is being, doing or having this in alignment with Universal Law (more life to all)?

4. Does being, doing or having this violate the rights of others (does it take away someone else's right to choose)?

You are looking for three yeses and one no — in that order.

Using these questions consistently will keep you on course!

Can I charge more than my competition?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions

comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

How do you charge your clients more money? I feel like if I increase my prices, I will lose clients due to competition.

Neagle Code Answer
Hi and thanks for your question.

The key to increasing your prices is to make the decision, and then ensure that you give more in value than what you charge.

It’s that simple.

I’m not sure what line of business you are in, but I’m going to use a service-based business as an example here.

Let’s take a look at restaurants. There millions of restaurants out there, and if you look at the really successful ones, you can learn a lot.

Successful businesses all have one thing in common.

They all have a unique selling proposition.

Your unique selling proposition sets you apart from the crowd.

It’s what makes you unique, and if you are unique, you won’t have to be concerned with competition.

Let’s go back to the successful restaurant.

A unique selling proposition for a restaurant may be that they specialize in one particular type of food, maybe they only use farm to table ingredients, maybe they have live piano music playing during dinner or maybe you can throw peanut shells on the floor.

Whatever it is, it is designed to SET THEM APART FROM THE CROWD.

To find your unique selling proposition, think about what makes YOU unique.

What services do you offer that make what you do extraordinary?

Once you can identify your unique selling proposition, you won’t have to be concerned with competition, and you can no longer use it as an excuse to charge less than what you are truly worth.

I made a lot of mistakes, now what?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

My business has gone through a lot of changes this year – mostly because of mistakes that I made partnering with the wrong people. I have made the changes to get out of that situation, and since then I have been struggling to figure out what I really want. I believe I want passive income, and to help business owners succeed using my knowledge of business management best practices, but not sure how to change the way things are now to achieve that.

I just started reading your book, and finding it helpful. I would love your feedback.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi and thanks for your question. After reading this a second time, I think you are actually asking me two questions.

The first question was about figuring out what you want.

Many people who I have had the pleasure of teaching over the years, have struggled with figuring out what they want. Part of the problem is that as a child, you were probably taught that you couldn't have what you wanted. Being told this over and over again, shut down your capacity to dream or even fantasize about what you want.

Here's a sure fire way to help you.

Sit down with a pen and a piece of paper and make a list of ALL the things you are tolerating in your life. By ALL I mean everything in your personal life AND your business life. Write down the smallest little annoyances, and also the really big things.

Once your list is complete, go to work on changing those things.

Pretty soon, you'll realize that you are beginning to see clearly what you want.

Your second question was about not knowing how to change to achieve what you want.

Change always starts with a decision.

This can be tricky.

If you are deciding what you want based on the perceived “problems” of the change that will need to be made, you will never make a decision.

Start with your list of tolerations.

Then decide what you want.

Finally, begin taking action toward that change.

And always remember, change is messy.

If it were easy, everyone would be wealthy.

In the end, it is those who are willing to change, adapt and grow that achieve the most success in life.
