Stop Feeling Overwhelmed. Start Acting

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

Are there any tools that I can use to really see what that next step is, that next action? I just feel like I'm always pushing to an unrealistic point, even though I feel like I can do it, but then it ends up being this overwhelming thing.

Neagle Code Answer

The desire needs to be there, because if it's there, that will be the thing that causes you to overcome whatever resistance there is around the action.

If the desire is not there, then the fear will always be stronger than whatever it is that we're saying the desire is.

There are three important questions you must ask:

1) What do you really want?

And be 100% completely honest with yourself about this answer.

2) Are you currently doing whatever it is to achieve what you want?

This needs to be specific and it needs to have direction.

The achievement needs to be something that's measurable, so that you can determine not only what track to be on, but in what direction on that track you’re going.

3) What needs to happen every day in order to achieve whatever it is that you’re looking to achieve?

And this should be more than one thing.

You have to get clear on what these actions are, because they give you direction every day and tell you what you need to work on.

It could be identifying all the problems that are out there, how you overcome those problems, and how you know that you've overcome those problems.

People think success is a destination. It's never a destination.

Never, ever, ever. It is a journey. And it is a process.

Successful people live in the process, not in the destination. They love the process.

Fear Stopping You From Action?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Sariah.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I have a clear vision of what I want. I feel like I'm pretty clear on what my purpose is, but I struggle with some of those actions that I know I need to take in order to move my business forward (like in sales, making cold calls and networking). How do I overcome my struggle with following through with action?

Neagle Code Answer

The desire needs to be there, because if it's there, that will be the thing that causes you to overcome whatever resistance there is around the action. If the desire is not there, then the fear will always be stronger than whatever it is that we're saying the desire is.

What do you really want? What is your desire?

You have to ask yourself, are your ideas rooted in you being the best? Or are they rooted in everybody just doing okay, like being safe, being secure and motoring along at that pace?

If you really wanted to be your best you would be thinking, “How do I crush sales? How do I crush it? How do I master this damn thing so I'm the best.” You wouldn't say I'm struggling with it.

So, when I hear somebody use that language, I'm asking myself what is the real motive for what they're saying that they want. And usually a person's not clear on it.

They're not; they may think they're working to be the best, but they're actually working for some different level of safety or certainty in their life.

Because you have to understand something, the fact that you're struggling represents in your mind somehow that there's some uncertainty with that specific task, or that action or how you do it, otherwise you wouldn't be struggling.

If you want to be your best, nobody should be able to expect more from you than you.

Your demand on you should be so much higher.

It should supersede anything anybody else could expect from you, that you don't even care what other people think because your measure of your best is an internal measure.

You need to change what is determining your success and your best because you are doing it in a way where it's being reflected to you by the way others behave or treat you or expect something from you.

It needs to be an internal compass. If you change that one thing, if you just pivot that and really get solid on, you're the best judge of your success and what you're doing, I think these problems will go away.

It's really a practice in becoming very aware of what your own hidden motives in life are. And then getting them the hell out of there and doubling down on what you really, really, really want for yourself and not letting anybody else's opinion, acceptance, or rejection of you matter at all. The only thing that matters is what you think, and you set the bar for what is success in your life. Period.

Is My Desire Lame?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Is that accurate:  If you have the desire and you keep that desire pure and undiluted, then you will have the drive to do the hard things that need to be done to accomplish your desire.   Perhaps my question is how do we develop that desire, and how can we be sure it is strong enough to keep us motivated?

Neagle Code Answer

Great question!!

And you are correct…

If your desire is average, which is a problem most people have, you won’t break through and do the “hard things” needed to accomplish your goal.

Why is this? Why do so many people have an average desire?

It’s because they won’t be honest about what they REALLY TRULY desire.

It’s not that it’s not there. It’s not hidden.

You need to be honest with yourself and understand that you’re not afraid of your desire, you’re afraid of what it’s going to cost you.

To really understand and see the reason why you’re here can be terrifying because what do you do when you realize that you may have to change very significant things in your life?

How do you rearrange your life to be able to live your desire?

This is the most serious realization that a person ever comes to in their lifetime and it requires 100% commitment.

Most people have created their life based on how their parents taught them to get on in the world, and usually that is in great conflict with what a person truly desires for them self.

So, get really quiet, and listen to that voice inside that is telling you what you really want, and then fall in love with that…make it your magnificent obsession…and nothing will stop you.

Tired of Trying to Do It All?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Over the last 7-8 years, my biggest limiting belief has been that I can’t make great money doing something I love — and if I do, the thing I love will become something I hate because I can’t figure out how to do it all.

I feel like I have conflicts across several things. Can you help me see what’s going on?

Neagle Code Answer

First of all, you can’t do it all.

Nobody can do it all.

The need to “do it all” comes from a middle-class mindset.

That type of thinking will immediately shut down your desire, and make your life miserable.

Here’s the thing…in order to reach your goal, you have to grow past that mindset.

Your need to do it all is in direct conflict with your desire, and it’s showing you where you AND your mindset needs to grow.

If you look at any successful person, you’ll see that they’ve had to adopt a WEALTH MINDSET, and be willing to abandon old beliefs that would have kept them spinning their wheels.

It’s not necessary for you to “do it all.” You can hire people to handle the things you don’t want to do.

But that requires you to step into the unknown and spend more, learn more, lead more, BE MORE…

You say to yourself:

“If I’m going to be, do, or have this thing, then I have to grow in this area. If I’m not willing to do that, then that will become the place where I stop.”

You can’t think about what you don’t want and move forward at the same time.

You have to focus entirely on what you DO want. And give it your all.

If you feel like you’re being controlled by a middle-class mindset and want to eliminate that value conflict, join me THIS WEEK on June 2nd and 4th for a FREE 2-Part video training I’ll be delivering. Not Sure What to Believe

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Amanda L.

Neagle Code Question

My biggest issue right now is that I’m not sure what to believe. I’m a small business owner, and I feel so confused about what to do. On one hand I have people telling me to act as if it’s business as usual, and on the other hand I have people telling me about how they are losing business and may have to file for bankruptcy, so I should be conserving and planning for the worst.

WHAT IS GOING ON? I feel like I can’t get my feet solidly underneath me. Can you help?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Amanda!

Please know that you’re not alone in what you are experiencing. I’ve spoken to so many business owners over the last few weeks who have asked me the exact same question.

So, let’s clear the confusion.

First: Get focused on what YOU want. NOT what you think you can do…but the deep desire you feel in your heart for what you want to experience or create in this world.

This feeling has to be strong, because the power of your desire will push you through any fear or resistance that you may experience as you progress toward the goal.

Second: Make a decision. Decide on your goal and make sure it is in line with your desire. For example, if it’s your desire to expand your business, a goal may be to increase the number of clients by 25% in the next 30 days.

Third: Make a list of new behaviors (This is where it may get uncomfortable). For example: If your goal is to increase the number of clients by 25%, then new behaviors may be calling all your pre-existing clients and directly asking for referrals, running paid advertising or creating videos to send to potential clients.

Fourth: TAKE ACTION. Begin to take action and implement the new behaviors.

The truth is, it doesn’t matter what someone else is experiencing…YOU can create your own experience. Tune out everyone else and focus on YOU and what YOU can do right now to create exactly what you want!

If you’re looking for more support around how to control your thinking, see the truth and create a plan of action, join me next week on May 6-8th for my Art of Success Watch Party! Tickets are only $97.00 AND 100% of the proceeds will be used to purchase Face Shields for NYC Hospitals!

Should I Stop Selling During This Crisis?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I have a business that meets a need during this crisis. I’ve created a new package around my service and have started marketing it on Facebook. I’m not taking advantage of the situation, and I’m not price gouging or being unethical.

What’s happened has totally shocked me.

I have people commenting on my ads and posts and saying horrible things to me becasue I’m selling something right now.

Are they right? Should I just stop? It’s triggered guilt in me…

Neagle Code Answer

This question is an extremely important question to ask.

I have to take a stand and say, “Good for you for charging.”

And here's the reason why.

The more people that can actually continue to participate in our economy, the better.

Our economy is hanging on by a shoe string at the moment.

Part of the reason is that because when major parts of our economy come to a standstill, the situation that caused it to come to a standstill keeps people from working, which means they don't have money coming in.

They can't spend money.

In order for our economy to be healthy, money has to come in from people who are purchasing. They pay money to other individuals and businesses for products and services.

The owner and the employees that are doing the work in that company are then being paid to provide the service and the products to these consumers.

The money they're being paid is so that they can pay their mortgage, they can pay their rent, they can pay for medical assistance. They can pay for their family. They can put their kids in school. They could put clothes on their back. They can feed their families.

It keeps them independent from having to rely on the limited resources that the government is trying to supply people that cannot do that right now.

In my opinion, EVERY business that can should be innovating and trying to find ways to be of service to others during this time.

There is NOTHING wrong with growing your business during a crisis and the growth shaming that you’ve experienced is simply a projection of someone else’s ignorant or dysfunctional belief system.

You are doing a good thing in the situation that we're in right now. We need you to keep operating your business the best that you can in a fair and balanced way for individuals that can afford to pay you.

You're contributing to your personal community.

You're contributing to the country.

You're contributing to the world.

I want to extend a personal invitation to EVERYONE who wants to see the opportunities that are around them right now, and be a part of the solution to our current crisis to join me on Tuesday, April 7th at noon ET as I host a SPECIAL 3-Hour LiveStream Event that I’ve titled, Unwavering Resilience: How to Rise Above Adversity. Overcoming your circumstance

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Sometimes I look at my life and think, “What have I been doing all this time?” How can I avoid feeling remorseful about the time I’ve wasted?

I’ve heard you say, “We’re always expressing, so we’re always moving toward our purpose, but sometimes not as quickly as others.”

How do we keep a positive outlook on our journey, up to this point? How do we start from where we’re at now — and not allow negative thoughts about what we ‘could have done’ or ‘should have done’ to enter into our current forward momentum?

Neagle Code Answer

There are two ways to approach this problem.

One is to say there really is no such thing as “wasted time,” if you’re looking at the ultimate truth of something. Everything we’ve done and experienced up until this point was 100% necessary to get us where we are today.

The other is to come from a slightly less positive perspective — which says, “Time is wasted if I knew what to do, but chose to do something else instead.”

Often, we know what we’re supposed to do to reach our goal…but we don’t do it. We do something else instead.

When we know what we’re supposed to do, but we don’t do it — then there’s some other problem we’re not addressing:

We don’t know WHY we’re not doing the thing we’re supposed to do.

Most people have this problem.

My belief is that most people know what they want. They know what to do to get it — but they don’t know why they’re not doing it.

So, they start feeling guilt around that. They go back into the paradigm of what’s holding them back, not moving them forward.

Guilt is just a way to keep you stuck in a past story.

Here’s the truth:

It doesn’t matter what you did (or didn’t do) in the past. We can’t go back and change anything. The only thing we can do is move forward.

When someone says, “I’m coming from guilt,” they’re really not. They’re coming from the original fear that would not allow them to move forward when they recognized it was time to move forward in the first place.

It’s very cyclical. It’s all part of the same conundrum of why a person doesn’t take action, regardless of what the circumstantial evidence is.

The circumstantial evidence of your life rarely plays a role in why you don’t move forward.

Throughout human history, we’ve overcome circumstances in every way imaginable or unimaginable. We have ample proof that we can do that.

Rarely are circumstances an actual reason to stop.

What’s important is:

Do we have the desire that will allow us to overcome our circumstances? That’s it.

Identifying what your desire is, and continuously moving toward the expectation of fulfilling that desire… is what’s important.

Lost? Find yourself by doing THIS

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

David… I HATE when someone asks me what I want. My brain literally goes blank when faced with that question. I have tried everything to get a clear picture of what I want and where I want to go, and all I see in my mind is static. Is there something I can do to help me get clear?

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks for the fantastic question!

Most people don’t spend enough time looking deeply at their own life.

Here’s what I suggest:

Take an entire day, and go sit in nature where it’s quiet.

(If you’re in a big city, and can’t find a quiet place… get everyone out of your house for the day, and spend the entire day just sitting alone).

Get yourself a notepad, pen, or pencil. (Don’t use the computer for this exercise.) Something magical happens when we put pen to paper.

Just sit there.

…And start writing whatever comes into your mind.

It doesn’t matter how crazy or off topic it seems… write it all down.

I’d suggest giving yourself a full 12 hours to do this exercise. Start early in the morning, maybe after you’ve showered. (The shower is more metaphorical than anything else. It’s like you’re cleansing yourself and your mind.)

Prepare yourself a cup of tea, coffee, fresh greens, or whatever you like. (No alcohol.)

Sit down, and be quiet. Be present. Pay attention to whatever is running through your mind. As different ideas and topics go through your mind, write them all down.

As you do this, you’ll begin to find a sense of “order” coming into your mind.

Your thoughts will become more orderly and clearer. They’ll become more directed.

Once you get the most “common” thoughts out of your head and on to the pape… you’ll find that new thoughts start coming to the surface… thoughts you’ve never had before.

You can ask yourself a question.

You could ask your subconscious mind, “Please show me what I want to do in life.” “Show me what my next goal is.” “What do I really desire?”

“Reveal to me what I want most. What do I want to be, do, or have?”

You could even drawn three columns on the page:

“Be” in the first column.
“Do” in the second column.
“Have” in the third column.

Write down anything that comes to mind in each column.

Eventually, you’ll start coming up with things that inspire you, things that bring you freedom, joy, happiness, and excitement.

As you write those things down, you’ll open the door for more of that “road” to reveal itself to you.

Ego or Inner Guidance… how to tell the difference

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I’ve heard you teach a lot about the power of following your true desire in life. And on the surface it seems VERY simple. But I’m finding that I’m not sure if I’m following a true desire or if I’m following my ego out of fear.

How do I know if I’m making decisions based on my desire or inner guidance?

Thanks so much!!

Neagle Code Answer

I love this question! Thanks!

Let me start by stating the truth: we all have an internal guidance system, just like every other form of life on the planet. And you have the ability to grow into the very biggest and best person that you can become.

Most people don’t recognize their internal desire or guidance system because they’ve never been taught to listen to it. They’ve been taught to follow the beliefs and values that were handed down to them prior to the age of 7.

So let me try to make this as simple as possible.

1) Desire is going to be clear.

It's not going to tell you what not to do. It will only tell you what TO DO. It's going to give you some direction as to what to do, but it won’t give you any more information until you make the decision to do what it's telling you to do. Most people get stuck here…they want to see the “whole plan.” And that’s just not how it works.

2) Desire is going to be persistent.

You will think about it all the time. It will always be rolling around in the back of your mind. The reason that it doesn't go away is because it's part of your purpose or is your purpose. It's part of your life purpose as to who you are, what you're supposed to do and the people that you're supposed to help in this world.

3) You will feel your desire internally.

You most often feel it in your heart and it will feel like you're being pulled towards something.

4) You will not feel fulfilled until you’re on the right path.

Nothing that you will do will fulfill the thirst of your desire other than the thing that it's actually telling you to do. Remember, it doesn't go away because it is your purpose (or part of your purpose).

It's really important to know that because I made the same mistake. I would go off and just do different things and try different things, but it wasn't the thing that my desire was telling me to do, and it never felt fulfilling. Sure, sometimes there was some joy and sometimes there was some fun, but I never, at the end of the day, really felt fulfilled.

The only thing that ever really fulfilled me was when I actually made a decision and stepped into that desire, which had really been guiding me my whole life and I didn't know it.

Another word for faith

Another word for faith

There was a short time in my life when I was on food stamps. I had a couple of small kids. It was not a proud moment for me.

The problem was, I was in constant resentment of the situation I was in. I wanted to change, but didn’t know how.

Now, you don’t have to be on food stamps to be in constant resentment.

When you have a desire — when you want something different in your life, and you’re doing the best you think you can do, and nothing is changing — it is so easy for a person to go into resentment.

They start saying, “Why isn’t anything working? Why is this happening to me? Why can’t I be successful?”

Resentment changes your vibration. It begins to change how you see things. Then all you see are more things to be resentful for.

If you truly want to change this…then you have to start “expecting” your desire to show up in your life.

In his book Working with the Law, Raymond Holliwell says, “True desire represents that urge of life seeking a fuller expression, and it’s kept alive by the continuous expectation of its fulfillment.”

In order to receive what we desire, we have to “continuously expect” that it will happen. We need to have faith that it will happen.

Another word for this
faith is gratitude.

When you continuously expect something…you’re building faith that it will happen.

This expectation “brings to us the ways and the means for its manifestation,” says Holliwell.

Whatever you’re “expecting” (good or bad) is also what you’re in harmony with…according to the Law of Vibration.

If you want to change what you’re in harmony with — then you need to start expressing gratitude for the things you desire…as if they were already here.

This keeps your senses open
and changes your perception.

Remember, the law of polarity says that the thing you desire is already here. You just can’t see it or hear it.

But as you increase your faith in this law, you will begin change your belief, and you’ll begin to see opportunities that you could not see before.
