This hit me like a punch in the stomach

This hit me like a
punch in the stomach

The first business I built didn’t go well. I wasn’t doing “bad,” but it wasn’t great, either. So I sought out advice from someone who was successful in the areas I wanted to succeed at.

This person listened quietly…as I told him everything that was going wrong in my business.
I complained.
I engaged in self-pity.

He looked me right in the eye and said,

“I know what your problem is…
you don’t want this bad enough.”

His words hit me like a punch in the stomach. It was hard to hear.

What I learned from that incident was I’d been spending so much time thinking about what I was doing, but I was not changing my thinking through acting.

Thinking by itself does not cause a person to be successful. You must take the actions that will cause you to be successful.

Whatever your desire is, you must take accurate ACTION in order to make it happen.

You must act your way into a new way of thinking…not think your way into a new way of acting.

Today, my company is known for helping people grow their business. We give them a strategy that will give them the results they want immediately. We help them build that foundation from a solid place.

However, this does not change their thinking. It’s not the “thinking” that makes the strategy work. It’s taking the action that makes it work.

Most people approach it by saying, “I have to change my thinking first…before I can take any action…”

They let fear stop them, and they don’t take action on their desire. They’re too busy THINKING about what they’re doing (or not doing)…instead of taking the action.

I recognized early on in my career that people want results quickly. I became known for helping them do this.

But it’s done by acting your way into a new way of thinking…not by thinking your way into a new way of acting.

What action can you take today to move you in the direction of your desire?

Are you seeing only one side?

Are you seeing
only one side?

If you’ve been following me at all this month you know that my focus has been on The Universal Laws. To be more specific, I’ve focused on the Universal Law of Polarity.

You see, most people live in judgment and one-sided beliefs that cause polarization of the Law of Polarity, meaning that if we don’t change or learn anything different, we go through our entire lives only seeing half of what life has to offer.

The half that we see is really based on how we’re programmed as a child.

This programming tells us how to behave, how to act, and how to perceive everything that is taking place in our world.

This is where this Law of Polarity allows change to actually start to take place.

The Law of Polarity states that everything has an opposite, and it’s equal and opposite. You can’t have a right without a left, an up without a down, an in without an out or a top without a bottom. You can’t have just one side of a thing. The opposite side must also exist and exist in the exact same place.

You cannot have a desire without the means for that desire already present.

I had absolutely no idea that the opportunity for me to go from $20,000 a year to $62,000 a year was around my physical being for at least two years before I became aware of it.

But once I became aware of it, it happened instantaneously, in a matter of 30 days.

And here’s the truth of what changed things for me:

In order for us to see the whole that is around us,
we must become whole.

I’ve been telling people this for years. It is really about who we become that allows us to have the change in our life that we so desire.

If we allow ourselves to become whole, then we’re able to change our awareness around what it is that we can perceive in our life.

When we change that perception, we can do something different.

We need to heal the stories within ourselves that contain half-truths, victimizations, pain, anger, shame, guilt and anything else that polarizes the mind and our thinking, including but not limited to superstitions, fairytales and, this is a big one, the addiction-like need to feel special.

Why? Because most times the opportunity we seek comes in the form of misfortune or defeat, and because of our stories, we brush them aside, run from them, or create lists in our minds of why we can’t say yes.

So let me ask you, what is in your life right now that you are saying no to, that you should be saying YES to?

Until next time…

How Do I Find My Purpose?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

My question is simple: How do I find my purpose?

Neagle Code Answer

Because I have received this question multiple times in the last couple of days, I’m going to address it directly on.

Finding your purpose comes from knowing who you truly are and what you desire.

Your purpose is already within you and it isn’t something you look for outside yourself.

I’m sure you’ve heard my story about my boating accident where I almost died after being sucked into a dam. When I was hanging onto a tree branch for dear life, I made a promise to God that I would figure out why I hadn’t been able to do the things that I knew I should have been doing. And then do them.

Right after the accident, nothing happened. God didn’t tell me what to do. After much frustration, I realized God wasn’t going to tell me what to do. I had to make that decision myself. I started by asking myself, “What am I going to do with the rest of my life?”

At first I didn’t know the answer. I kept asking myself the question and then answers began to come forward. The first three answers I received and acted upon were to:

1. Change my attitude
2. Treat everyone with total respect
3. Do everything to the best of my ability.

Now, this didn’t immediately give me the answer to my life purpose. It did help me to change and to raise my awareness. Whenever we raise our awareness, we discover more of who we truly are. The more we know who we truly are, the more answers were given about our unique gifts we have to share with the world.

The key here is to continue to ask yourself conscious questions to raise your awareness of who you are. Everyday, ask yourself, “What am I going to do with the rest of my life?” and “What do I really want?”

Just as I did and continue to do, follow the answers you are given as if they were bread crumbs creating a path and you will find yourself living your “purpose.”

Desire or dysfunction?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

Can having a desire be a bad thing? I’ve heard some people say that a person must let go of the desire because the desire controls them as long as they are attached to it. What is the best way to keep the proper perspective?

Neagle Code Answer

Hello, and thanks for this question!

If we look to truth, we can find the answer to your question.

Desire is necessary.

It drives our purpose.

It pulls us to become who we are.

It helps us see when and where we need to make changes in our life.

And most importantly, desire is a KEY ingredient in how we create the world around us.

Desire is not evil, but it can be dysfunctional if you mistake true desire for a dysfunctional need.

The test for all of us to keep ourselves in check — and make sure that our desire is coming from a place of abundance and more life to all — is to use the 4 Questions.

I teach the 4 Questions in ALL of my seminars and workshops and to all my clients.

They are a series of questions that help us determine if we desire something or if we are making a dysfunctional decision.

The questions apply to every decision you make and every desire you have.

Question 1: Is this something you want to be, do or have? (You should get a yes to this question)

Question 2: Is being, doing or having this going to take you closer to your goal? (You should get a yes to this question)

Question 3: Is being, doing or having this in alignment with Universal Law (more life to all)? (You should get a yes to this question)

Question 4: Does being, doing or having this take away the rights of others or does it take away someone’s right to choose? (You should get a no to this question)

Use these questions daily to help you stay focused and on a clear path to your goals.

Remember:

Desire is the unexpressed possibility within you, seeking expression outside of you.

To deny desire would be to deny your true self.

Stirs your soul

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

David,

When people ask me what I want, I find myself stumbling with the answer to that question as if I might answer it wrong. However, I do know a few things… I know I want a bigger home. I know I want to be debt free. I know I want to travel and give my kids some amazing experiences, but I can’t seem to bring in the money I think I need to have and do all those things. So part of me wonders why, if I’ve wanted these things for so long, haven’t they happened yet? Can you help me understand what’s going on here?

Neagle Code Answer

Sure! Let’s do a quick check in 3 different areas that affect your ability to manifest what you want.

Any time that you’re choosing something that you want in life, whether you’re writing affirmations, a mission statement, creating a vision board, setting goals or intentions, you need to get a very clear idea of what it is that you want, and write it down in the present tense, as though you already have it.

For example, “I want to buy a beautiful house in the country” becomes “I am buying a beautiful house in the country.”

Once your thought is clear, you need to make sure that your emotions are as well.

Look at your written goal or desire and ask yourself, “Do I believe that I can get or have that thing I want?”

If your desire is more of a fairy tale that you would love to have, but don’t really believe you’re going to get, you need to throw that paper away and start again with, “What do I really believe I can get?”

If you don’t believe you can have what you want, Spirit doesn’t believe it either.

And since Spirit works deductively, it can only send back to you in manifest form what you actually believe.

And finally, look at the goal you wrote down and ask yourself: “Is this just something that I think I can accomplish, or is it something that I really want? Does it stir my soul and inspire me?”

When I first started doing goal setting for myself, I made the mistake that most people do. I started picking things that I thought I could accomplish, which was really based out of past experience and not what I really wanted in my heart, not something that excited me or gave me any kind of vision for my future.

Therefore nothing changed. The energy behind the picture was of the past, so nothing changed.

As you can see, there’s a very delicate balance that must take place in order for you to work what most people would consider miracles into your life.

Your desire can’t be too much in your past, and it can’t be too far into your future either. It needs to help you grow while remaining within your belief system.

Sending Mixed Signals?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Dear David,

I know I’m inherently a good person. I’m giving. I don’t take away the rights of others, and I feel like I’m doing what I’ve been put here to do. All that being said, I don’t understand why Spirit keeps giving me results I don’t want. I feel like Spirit has a different plan for me…Could this be?

Thanks so much!

Neagle Code Answer

Fantastic question!

The reason is likely due to a misunderstanding of The Reciprocating Law of Spirit. Now, don’t be daunted—this mouthful of a law is actually pretty easy to understand.

Reciprocal” means to give in return; therefore, this law explains the fact that Spirit gives you the manifestation of the message that you give it.

It also means that you can have virtually anything you want.

You give your message to Spirit. Spirit gives it back to you (via The Law of Perpetual Transmutation) in physical form. That’s actually great news; however, most people don’t understand that Spirit works deductively.

That means Spirit doesn’t change what you choose.

So if you choose from a wounded psychological, emotional or physical place, Spirit will give you what you’ve chosen in physical form—whether you consciously want it or not.

For instance, let’s say you want a great income so that you can live an abundant lifestyle.

That’s your desire. But if your emotions or beliefs contradict your desire, you are sending a confused message to Spirit. Perhaps you don’t believe you’re worthy or smart enough, or you’re afraid of surpassing your parents.

Given this scenario, it’s surely the case that your actions will only muddy the message. You’ll take some actions toward creating the income you want, but you’ll also sabotage yourself on a regular basis in any number of ways, such as not following up on opportunities or procrastinating.

What does Spirit do with this mixed message?

It turns it back over exactly as it receives it.

The Art of Success – Article #11 – Your Desire = Helping Others

Your Desire = Helping Others

Did you know that following one small desire can open up a world of amazing new possibilities for you.

But it doesn’t stop there…

It can produce unbelievable things — not just in your life, but in the lives of all the people you touch!

Why is this?

Because living YOUR desire
can also unlock the
seeds of desire in others.

When you’re a creative being, living the fullest expression of the potential inside of you, you cannot help but be noticed by others who are also working towards that same potential.

You become an inspiration just by being who you are — and doing the things you want to do.

You don’t have to try, struggle, fuss, or go through all kinds of garbage to make that happen. It just… happens.

This creates a positive ripple effect in the world…none of which could ever happen if you kept your desire locked inside of you.

One fantastic example of this is the bestselling author, Elizabeth Gilbert, who wrote the book Eat Pray Love. Her book became a global bestseller — and it all sprung from a tiny seed of desire.

One day Liz had a thought: “It’d be cool to speak Italian.” That desire led her to learn the language…which then led her to travel to Italy and other countries. While traveling, she had many life-changing experiences. She wrote about these experiences in her book, which became a mega-bestseller and impacted the lives of millions.

What if she had dismissed the initial seed of desire, or ignored it? The world would have missed out on a lot!

You can easily disregard your desires — and do nothing with them. OR you can give yourself permission to act on them!

No desire is too small or too insignificant; even if it’s something as simple as, “I want this wall in my living room to be blue.”

Having trouble tapping into your desire? Take a good long look at what you’re currently tolerating in your life and you’ll see that the opposite of toleration is DESIRE.

The Art of Success – Article #10 – What’s your potential?

What’s your potential?

Each person has a desire in their heart. That desire is a lot like a seed.

If you take any seed in nature and place it in your hand, what are you actually holding? You’re holding the potential for something else. That’s what a seed holds — the potential for something else… something more.

For example, if you hold the seed of an oak tree in your hand, it has the potential to become a massive oak tree.

Not only that — once it becomes a massive oak tree, that tree will produce seeds; each of which will also become oak trees…and soon you have an entire forest.

All of that could come from one tiny seed? Yes!

But if you simply looked at the appearance of the seed, you couldn’t see all of that right away. It would just look like a small seed, and nothing more.

Desire is the same way.

Like the seed, desire has the potential to become so much more in your life, if you allow it to grow.

If you nurture your desire, feed it, put in the right environment, and give it what it needs to be expressed, it will GROW…and it will create massive things in your life — things that aren’t immediately apparent to you right now.

That’s why following your desire is so powerful. It holds so much potential.

Just like an entire forest could be created from one tiny seed, there’s potential for amazing transformations to occur in your life if you allow yourself to follow even one small desire you have in your heart.

So follow your desires…no matter how small they are!

They will lead you in the direction of your purpose and have a lasting impact on others.

The Art of Success – Article #2 – One Mental Shift Tripled My Income

One Mental Shift
Tripled My Income

Last week I told you that you can double, triple, or even quadruple your income, and it doesn’t have to take a long time or be difficult.

In fact, one simple mental shift tripled my income.

I was a high school dropout and, at the time, was married with two children and working six-and-a-half days a week, driving a forklift on a dock, to earn about $20,000 a year.

I was so frustrated I wanted to scream. I didn’t like myself or virtually anybody else.

But there was a seed of desire in me—just as there is in everybody—and I began to ask myself what I wanted.

I decided that I wanted a boat, a house, a car, and to earn $40,000 a year. That was it. Those were the only things that I thought I could get.

Then one day, I was in a water-skiing accident that broke my back and almost took my life.

It was an enormous wake-up call for me that one day I could be living my life, and then bang, like flipping a light switch, I could be gone.

As I lay at home recovering, I started asking myself why I was here and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

I thought that God would reward me with a great opportunity, but nothing changed. About a month after my accident, I was back on the dock, absolutely miserable again.

Then one brutally cold February night in Chicago, about 2:20 a.m., I was still working, and nothing was going right. I was exhausted and at my wit’s end, when a voice inside my head said, “David, change your attitude.” It was so clear it was almost audible.

Could it be that simple? I wondered. Could a small change in my thinking make a big shift in my external results?

I started to play with this idea, and began to study the owner of the company where I worked. This guy had a million-dollar company and a great attitude, and yet we came from the same lower-middle-class background. Not only that, but when he started the business in his garage, he was doing the same job that I was currently doing.

I decided then and there that I would commit to making three attitude adjustments in myself, and practice these for 12 months and see what happens.

Those three changes were:

1. I was going to act as though I loved what I was doing. I hated my job, but since my boss used to do it, I decided that he must have liked it on some level, so I would find a way to like it as well.

2. I would treat people with total respect. This is how he treated everybody, while up to this point I was resentful, bitter and hurt.

3. I would do every job to the best of my ability. The owner had built good business relationships, so I surmised that he must have put a lot of care into his work. At that point, I was not operating by that idea. If something broke, I didn’t care. So I decided to follow his model in this as well.

Because I wanted something different, I was willing to do something different.

Without going back to school or taking any lessons or even reading any books, in less than a year, I was making $60,000.

All I did was shift what was going on inside my head, and my income tripled.

Can the same thing happen for you? Absolutely!

And whether you’re making $20,000 or $500,000 the lesson is the same.

You can have so much more than you can even imagine.

And, as I’ll tell you next week, you ARE so much more than you even know.

These 10 steps work, no matter what time of year

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I want 2018 to be my best year yet…and to be honest, 2017 has been a bit of a disappointment. Can you give me some pointers to help me start the New Year off on the right foot and ensure I’m doing what’s necessary to create what I actually WANT this year?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and Happy New Year!!

When we are ready to make a commitment, the evidence of how serious we are always shows up in two places first.

Our calendar and our finances.

We make the time to not only create a plan, but to carry that plan out every day, and we are willing to invest financially in whatever it takes to manifest our commitment. So, if it's not showing up in those two places first, then chances are it's just an intention and will quickly disappear shortly after the ball drops on New Year’s Eve.

Here is a plan that will turn any desire into a commitment so that it becomes a reality in 2018:

1. Become very clear on what you want. Build a vision as clear as you can and write it down in great detail. You might also want to create a vision board to go with your writing of your vision.

2. Understand where you are in your own growth so that you have an accurate place to start when creating your committed plan for success.

3. Decide what you must let go of to make room for your desire and commitment. Remove anything that does not support your new commitment from your daily life and habits.

4. Allow yourself to become emotionally involved in your new commitment. Fall in love with every aspect of what you need to Be, Do and Have in order to be fully committed to the process and the outcome.

5. Create daily activities that allow you to build momentum in your new behaviors in order to keep your commitment.

6. Spend short frequent times during your day to write and speak of your commitment as if it were actually completed.

7. Before you get out of bed in the morning and before you go to sleep each night, find 3 things to be grateful for that day and 3 things that you appreciate about yourself that day. This will keep you focused on the good that happens each day, even if something goes wrong that day.

8. Measure your success at least once per week. If we can't see how we are progressing, we will focus on what is not working and will be more likely to break our commitment.

9. Help someone else keep their commitment. This will help you reprogram your thinking and keep you excited at the same time.

10. Never give up. No matter what happens, never let your inner voice agree with any reason that your subconscious mind comes up with for you to quit. Refuse to be denied your success.

I promise you that if you follow this plan with whatever you truly desire in 2018, you will create it and every commitment that comes after will be easier.
