How to step past fear into greatness

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Mike.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

How do you “be” the person you desire when your whole life has been filled with fear? Where do you get the strength and courage to step out of your paradigm?

Thanks so much!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Mike. Thanks for the question!

The first thing to realize is that everything comes from within you. As children, we are taught to look outward for validation of what the world is like. But the truth is that all experiences come from inside of you.

You get to decide who you want to be and what you want your reality to be. It is not determined by anyone else but you.

But, your reality won’t change until you start making new decisions.

See your current situation as a place to work from. Even if you aren’t currently the person that you need to be to go where you want to go, you can choose to be that person now.

What kind of person has what you want?

What are their characteristics?

Once you have that list, make a decision to start adopting those qualities as your own and be that person all the time.

Your desire to change has to be stronger than the fear you are feeling.

Fear is an illusion; a result of false programming that formed your current reality.

Once you believe more in the Truth than you do your own story, change will be automatic.

How do I find my real purpose?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Amanda.

Neagle Code Question

I understand about purpose, do what you love and the money will follow but I don't have a clue what I should be doing. How do I find my purpose?

Neagle Code Answer

Amanda, thank you for the question.

Finding your purpose comes from knowing who you truly are and what you desire. Your purpose is already within you and it isn’t something you look for outside yourself.

I’m sure you’ve heard my story about my boating accident where I almost died after being sucked into a dam. When I was hanging onto a tree branch for dear life, I made a promise to God that I would figure out why I hadn’t been able to do the things that I knew I should have been doing. And then do them.

Right after the accident, nothing happened. God didn’t tell me what to do. After much frustration, I realized God wasn’t going to tell me what to do. I had to make that decision myself. I started by asking myself, “What am I going to do with the rest of my life?”

At first I didn’t know the answer. I kept asking myself the question and then answers began to come forward. The first three answers I received and acted upon were to:

1. Change my attitude

2. Treat everyone with total respect

3. Do everything to the best of my ability.

Now, this didn’t immediately give me the answer to my life purpose. It did help me to change and to raise my awareness. Whenever we raise our awareness, we discover more of who we truly are. The more we know who we truly are, the more answers we’re given about our unique gifts we have to share with the world.

The key here, Amanda, is to continue to ask yourself conscious questions to raise your awareness of who you are. Everyday, ask yourself, “What am I going to do with the rest of my life?” and “What do I really want?”

Just as I did and continue to do, follow the answers you are given as if they were bread crumbs creating a path and you will find yourself living your “purpose.”

Is wanting what I want a bad thing?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,

Some “experts” talk about desire negatively. They say that a person must let go of the desire because the desire controls them as long as they are attached to it. I think there is a middle ground; having a desire without being attached to it. Could you expand on this? What is the best way to keep the proper perspective? I like the idea of focus vs. goals because it feels like the attachment is reduced.

Answer:

Hello and thanks for this question!

I'm not sure what experts you're referring to in your question, but if we look to truth, we can find the answer to your question.

Desire is necessary.

It drives our purpose.

It pulls us to become who we are.

It helps us see when and where we need to make changes in our life.

And most importantly desire is a KEY ingredient in how we create the world around us.

Desire is not evil, but it can be dysfunctional.

The true test for all of us to keep ourselves in check and make sure that our desire is coming from a place of abundance and more life to all is to use the 4 Questions.

I teach the 4 Questions in ALL of my seminars and workshops and to all my clients.

They are a series of questions that help us determine if we desire something or if we are making a dysfunctional decision.

The questions apply to every decision you make and every desire you have.

Question 1: Is this something you want to be, do or have? (You should get a yes to this question)

Question 2: Is being, doing or having this going to take you closer to your goal? (You should get a yes to this question?)

Question 3: Is being, doing or having this in alignment with Universal Law (more life to all)? (You should get a yes to this question)

Question 4: Does being, doing or having this take away the rights of others or does it take away someone's right to choose? (You should get a no to this question)

Use these questions daily to help you stay focused and on a clear path to your goals.

Remember: Desire is the unexpressed possibility within you, seeking expression outside of you.

To deny desire would be to deny your true self.

[Goal Setting Series]Article #9 ~ To Hell in a Handbasket?

The second you make a firm decision to embrace your desire, and you fully step into it, the universe responds immediately. It starts rearranging your life so that you can reach your goal and fulfill your purpose.

Some of that does not look or feel good.

Often there is a brief period of chaos. You may experience difficult situations or people close to you get sick.

That can be very challenging, because you're emotionally attached to the things and people in your life. You think, What the hell is going on? My whole world's falling apart!

It's difficult, but it is only temporary. It's like the turbulence you experience when you take off in an airplane.

The pilot comes over the intercom, saying, “Folks, we're experiencing some turbulence right now. I'm waiting to get clearance from air traffic control so that we can take you up and out of this.”

Meanwhile, you're gripping the seat rests or the hand of the person next to you, wondering when the hell it's going to end.

Then, all of a sudden, they get the all-clear. The plane soars to 36,000 feet, and it's smooth sailing from that point on.

The higher side of you understands this process, but your subconscious mind is freaking out. It can only go by the information with which it's been programmed ~ which includes belief in lack ~ so it perceives your goal as an impossible dream. It believes that what you're doing is dangerous, so it's trying to stop you.

You have to be ready for this, because your subconscious will cause you to think thoughts that are detrimental to your progress toward your vision.

You'll think, What's happening! I'd better stop. I shouldn't spend any more money! This is crazy. I can't do this! In addition you may feel fear, anger or overwhelmed.

The truth is everything is moving in the right direction. When you set your goals according to Universal Law, as I've been showing you, you are going for the biggest win of your life.

Just keep following what I told you in my recent series on the Seven Secrets of Multimillionaire Entrepreneurs.

Those ideas of desire, decision, belief and faith in a higher power, love, responsibility, will, and action, will keep you living in the higher side of yourself.

They will cut straight through the chaos and rocket you to your goal.

[Goal Setting Series]Article #4 ~ How To Turn Your Fantasy Into Reality

If you’ve been putting the information in this goal-setting series into practice, you now have a gift from the Universe: a prosperous idea that you received while fantasizing.

This idea represents something you want for your business or relationship, or it’s something you’d like to do. It would make an enormous difference in your life.

Now, the question is, how do you turn your fantasy into reality?

The first step is to answer the following two questions honestly.

1.  “Am I able?”

Do you believe that you are able to manifest your desire?

I asked you to receive ideas through fantasizing because I wanted you to open your mind to possibility, to receive ideas you might never have considered.

In order to manifest your idea, however, you have to muster the faith to believe in it.

For instance, let’s say you have a $1 million business and you want to expand to $3 million this year.

That’s a stretch, and the idea scares you, but you also feel deeply excited. You really feel in your gut that you can do it.

If, on the other hand, you don’t feel able, don’t beat yourself up. I say all the time that you have to start where you are. Fantasize again and ask for something that you can believe in.

Just keep your original vision too. You might be ready for it sooner than you think!

2. “Am I willing?”

When you can say that you are able to manifest your idea, you then want to ask yourself if you are willing to do what must be done to make it a reality.

For example, are you willing to:

Change what must be changed?

Financially invest in yourself?

Get coaching and direction when required?

Let go of self-limiting stories?

Study, read and attend seminars?

Mastermind with like-minded people?

Release your past?

Continue when met with failure?

Refuse to be a victim?

Possibly face ridicule, humiliation and rejection?

Commit to living a new life?

Move if necessary?

The list can go on and on, and you won’t know all of the things that need to change before you make the decision to pursue your fantasy.

In fact, you have to make the decision first.

This is difficult, I know, but the Universe won’t show you what you need to do until you make the decision to step into your vision.

Once you say that you are willing, the Universe will show you exactly what needs to shift. It will show up in your life as a problem or an issue, as something that obviously needs to change.

The only thing you need to do now is commit to being willing to do whatever “it” is.

Yes, that’s a huge leap of faith.

However, whatever you’ll be asked to change is the thing that’s been holding you back. So there’s really nothing to lose and everything to gain.

If you can jump off that diving board and say, “I AM ABLE, AND I AM WILLING,” you’ve made a decision.

And your fantasy is one step closer to reality.

I’ll show you that all-important second step next time.

Can I make myself WANT this?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,

I have listened to several of your courses the most recent being The Miracle of Money. I am still hung up on one thing.

Can we change our desires willingly or are they inherent in our truth? More specifically, I desire to leave my relationship with my husband of 11 years, but he would like to make it work. We have two children. If I can actually change my desire to want to be with him, then could I be happy staying? He says, “If you can manifest anything in your thoughts, then manifest a happy relationship with me.”

If this is a choice, I want to make it. I am belaboring this choice because of the children. Most of all, I want to make the choice one way or the other and MOVE ON finally!

Answer:

Hi and thanks for this question.

If you could change your desire, you would have changed it by now.

Desire, by definition, means a strong feeling of wanting or longing. But what the definition fails to tell us is where that desire actually comes from.

You see desire is actually given to us. Spirit gives that deep longing in our hearts to us, and the purpose of that desire is so that we may grow.

Sometimes the desire we feel may not seem easy to attain. Sometimes it may even feel impossible to ever have. But if we look to Universal Truth, we know that a desire is never given without the way to achieve that desire already present.

This can sometimes be tricky in relationships.

Do you and your husband have the same goals and values?

Do you both want the same things?

Are you both able to have open and honest conversations about those things?

As I've stated in the past, we aren't taught how to choose our relationships. So when we decide to marry when we are young or unaware, oftentimes we make that decision based on romantic feelings rather than values and life goals.

Then as time passes and we get the urge to change and grow, sometimes our partners don't have that same desire. This can drive a very deep wedge in the relationship.

Ultimately, you have to listen closely to your secret thoughts and honor your desires, and in any relationship open and honest communication is essential.

The difference between DEBT and DIAMONDS …

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,
You've mentioned the law, “If you have a strong enough desire for something, the money MUST be there.” Please say more about how this works. For instance, if I SHOULD manifest enough money to pay off debt, does this mean that I don't DESIRE it enough to manifest the money because it's more of a “should.” Or, in another case, if I really, really desire the $12,000 diamond necklace I saw in a window yesterday, am I likely to manifest the money. And if there is a conflict, as in a “should” and a “desire,” how do I resolve the conflict and do both.
P.S. Love your work.

Answer:

Thanks for this great question!

Most people aren't excited about paying debt, but that doesn't mean the money isn't there. I recommend paying off your debt AND buying the $12,000.00 necklace.

Your goals should allow you to accomplish ANYTHING you want, and if paying off your debt and purchasing a diamond necklace is what you want, that's the goal you should be setting.

However, you don't need to focus on paying all your debt at once. There's nothing wrong with paying it off in increments. You don't want to make paying off that debt a hardship for yourself, or you'll come to resent it, and that opens up a new problem. Make sure you don't sacrifice everything to pay it off.

The only flip side to your “desire and should” question has to do with shame.

If you have shame around your debt, if you're embarrassed by it, or try to hide it, you will have a difficult time manifesting the money needed to pay it off.

Why?

Because how you do anything is how you do everything, and if you're experiencing shame, it will prevent you from doing the things necessary to manifest the money.

So if you can't see that debt is simply a tool and be grateful for it and truly appreciate what it's provided to you, you may want to take a long hard look as to how you actually feel about the debt.

Once you drop the shame and negative feelings around it, you'll be surprised how much easier it will be to manifest the money to pay it off.

I can’t wait to touch a hot stove! (Really?)

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Michael Pierich. You can find him on the web at www.healedspirit.com.

Question:

David,

Thanks for the Art of Success Program. It's very good.

Was just re-listening to the section on security in part II where you mention one's failing to take opportunities because we feel we can't afford it.

I know I'm probably missing something here – but I do have past experience of taking part in fairly expensive courses with little or no results. How does one get around that experience? It seems to me that some things get programmed into the subconscious for a good reason – namely, because they're true! It's like touching the hot stove – how many times must one do that before the lesson is learned? I know of no one who kept touching the stove and eventually was able to do it without pain…

Answer:

Hi Michael!

You've actually asked two different questions in your above inquiry, so I'll answer each as it's own separate question.

Your first question was “How do I get around the experience of having spent money on fairly expensive courses with little or no results?”

First, you can't get around the experience. You must take responsibility for it.

You see, you are the center of your reality; you create everything. All the positive experiences and all the negative experiences are your own creation, and you create EVERYTHING for a reason whether you consciously realize it or not.

So the truth is, you didn't experience results from the program you invested in because it served you in some way. Either you stopped doing what you were directed to do because of subconscious fear or you chose the program from a place of lack. In which case the end result was lack.

So, be honest for a moment.

Did you choose that fairly expensive program based solely on your desire to have what the outcome promised and your intuition on knowing that the program was just what you needed? Or was your decision based on a combination of what you believe you could afford and the outcome that was offered?

It makes a difference.

And during the course of the program did you let someone know that you weren't satisfied or that you needed assistance? Did you reach out for help and were you willing to do everything you were directed to do?

Are you using your past experience as an excuse to stop?

Because if you are, it's serving a very definite purpose.

Your second question was, “It seems to me that some things get programmed into the subconscious for a good reason – namely, because they're true! It's like touching the hot stove – how many times must one do that before the lesson is learned?

First, I think it's important to note that the fear of touching a hot stove is not a subconscious fear.

We are all consciously aware that touching a hot stove hurts because we've experienced it and don't really want to experience it again.

Babies and small children don't have the subconscious fear, which is why at some point, they have to experience it to know not to touch it.

We have many fears that keep us from perishing but they are all conscious.

Here is the distinction…

God gave us desires. He's a perfect and loving God, and if he's a perfect and loving God, why would he give us desires and then tell us that we can't have them?

The answer is, he wouldn't. It's not in his nature to do such a thing.

If you have a desire to be, do or have something, that message is from God.

And if you experience obstacles, roadblocks, blind spots, or negative circumstances associated with the journey of being, doing or having your desire, you must understand that those experiences are being created from your subconscious mind's need to keep you from growing. Because it views such growth as a threat.

The difference is in the desire.

I don't know anyone who desires to touch a hot stove on a regular basis, but I know lots of people who desire to make a difference in this world and stop because they are afraid of something that does not exist.

Here’s how your magnificent obsession = dollars!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David. I'm having a difficult time setting a money goal and then sticking to it. It doesn't seem to be enough to set the financial goal; yet, I really NEED the money that I'm asking for. How do I continually stay focused on that goal?

Answer:

To answer your question, I'm going to refer to Chapter 2 in Napoleon Hill's book, Think and Grow Rich.

You see, wishing for money will not bring it.

According to Hill, desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence, which DOES NOT RECOGNIZE FAILURE, will bring riches.

If you look at the above paragraph, you can see there are many things at play in hitting your financial goal.

First, you must desire it. You must be emotionally attached to it. Some of you may have even heard me call your goal a magnificent obsession. Get crystal clear on your goal. If it's an amount you've picked out of thin air because it “would be nice”, you cannot be emotionally attached to it. Your goal should mean something to you.

Second, you must take action on a plan to bring forth the money. No matter how much you desire to hit your goal, the heavens will not open and drop money in your lap.

Third, you must be persistent, and you must be persistent in a way that you REFUSE to accept failure as an option. I call this “burning the ships”. For some of you this may mean giving up a weekend to make sales calls or doing something you've been resisting for quite some time. It's about doing whatever it takes regardless of the fear that you are confronted with.

And fourth, along with being persistent, you must see, feel and believe yourself already having the money you need to hit your financial goal. Your desire must be so strong, that you convince yourself that you already have it.

And in truth, if you desire it, it is in fact already here for you.

To help you stay focused, I recommend that you read and reread Chapter 2 in Think and Grow Rich, and pay special attention to the practical steps he gives for turning your desires into its financial equivalent.

Ego venom slows, disorients & blinds

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

David, I've heard you mention the role the ego plays in stopping you from manifesting. How do I identify if my ego is trying to stop me?

Answer:

Hi and thanks for your question.

Your ego's sole job is to keep you exactly where you are. Your ego perceives any growth or change as a threat to your survival, and it will immediately begin to bring up fears to control your decision making.

And your ego can be very tricky!

Let me give you an example…

The truth states that if you have a desire, the way to fulfill that desire is already present. Therefore, if you feel a deep desire for something, that desire is coming from Spirit. It's a message being sent to you to help foster your growth and keep you on the path to increased consciousness.

The next thing that happens is your ego recognizes this desire as a threat, and immediately gives you many reasons why you shouldn't take action to achieve your desire. Some reasons your ego will use are:

  • it's not the right time
  • you don't want to travel
  • you don't have enough money
  • you don't deserve it
  • people will laugh at you
  • you will fail and everyone will find out

Because your ego is strong, you believe these excuses, and you stifle your own growth.

You believe the lies your ego is telling you.

So let's go back to the truth.

Spirit does not speak to you through fear. Period.

I'm sure you've heard me teach about manifestation. But let me just remind you that manifestation simply means “becoming aware of what already exists”. To simplify it, you can't want something without it already being present.

And your ego doesn't want you to take action toward your desire because in taking action you grow.
