How to teach children to express emotions

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

How do we model what we're learning and teach children to express emotions … even when we feel like we don’t have time to deal with their “big feelings”?

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks for this question.

First, help your children understand what they're experiencing.

Remember, it's a whole new world for them. They don't know why they're experiencing what they're experiencing.

The best thing to do is for you to withdraw your big feelings in the moment and get yourself centered before you address them.

Help them understand what they're experiencing and show them an alternate way of expressing their emotions.

When you say, “Don't do that,” or “Put your feelings away,” they don't know how to do that.

Managing emotions is a skill that takes a better part of 30 years for most people to figure out and that’s IF they're diligent with it.

You need to withdraw yourself first. Calm yourself down and then say, “How do I need to address somebody that's five?”

One of the best things that you can do is research and learn how to influence your children, so they WANT to do something and feel as if it’s their choice.

[8 Steps To A Live Presentation That Sells Series] Article #8 ~ Transition to Your Powerful Story

If the devil’s in the details, Step 5 of my formula for a live presentation that sells is a classic example. It may seem like a small point, but ignoring it could cost you thousands in sales.

Step 5: A Smooth Transition
After you’ve established with testimonials and case studies that you’re worth your audience’s attention, you want to keep that attention by making a smooth transition to your story.

For instance, if I had just told the audience how my client Elaine made $96,000 in 18 days, I might then say:

“I know that a lot of you may be thinking to yourself, ‘How can I do what Elaine did? How can I make a lot of money in a short period of time?’

“The answer to that question eluded me for most of my life. In fact, when I first started out, I was sick, broke and had a terrible attitude.”

Then, I start telling my story.

If your transition is absent or disjointed, the audience may get confused. Then their minds may start wandering to what they’re going to have for dinner, and you could lose them for good.

If your transition is smooth, however, you keep all of their attention riveted on you as you move into your story.

Step 6: Your Inspiring Story
Every one of us has a story of how we came to be where we are. If you’re speaking for the purpose of sales, that inspiring, rags-to-riches story is central to your presentation.

Your story may literally be rags to riches. Perhaps you grew up in poverty or were homeless for a period of time. Maybe you lived next door to a drug dealer like I did. Or, maybe for decades, you couldn’t get a date to save your life.

You went through a difficult time, and then figured out how to get out of it, and today you have the riches to show for it. You have a thriving business or a great partner or whatever is relevant for what you’re teaching and selling that day.

People Hear with Their Emotions
Whatever your story, it must come from your heart and be emotional. If you tell your story honestly and dig deep inside, you’ll start to feel the emotions you were going through at the time.

Let yourself express those emotions on the stage. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I pound the podium.

That’s actually very powerful because emotions resonate with the audience. They’ll feel them too and make a real connection with you.

That’s why speaking is such an effective way to make sales. People listen with their ears, but they hear with their emotions..

In fact, unless they’re emotionally invested in what you’re doing, you’re not going to sell them a damn thing.

They’ll just sit there, rationalizing away their genuine need for your program.

But if you get them emotionally involved, they’re much more likely to buy.

In fact, they’re very likely to buy. As I’ve said, 30% of the people in my audiences buy what I’m selling.

And if you transition smoothly to your powerfully told story, the same could be true for you.

[Goal Setting Series]Article #6 ~ Manifest Your Prosperous Idea

If you've been following this goal-setting series, you've identified what needs to leave and come into your environment, and you've made an unwavering commitment to your goal.

You are now ready for it to manifest.

Get Emotionally Involved

To start moving your idea from the nonphysical to the physical, you have to become emotionally involved in it.

Imagine how your project will feel when it comes to fruition. Think about it all the time. Fan your desire for it into a white-hot flame.

Why is that important?

Emotions are like the engines behind our thoughts, which by themselves are neutral.

When you imbue your idea or any thought with emotion, you send it zinging through time and space, and the Universe starts bringing you what you need to manifest it.

If you stay emotionally connected to your project, it will manifest quickly.

If you fall into doubt and recant on being willing and able, you return to ground zero. You have to start again.

I know…if you've never consciously manifested something before, it is difficult to keep the faith.

Just remember that the moment you had the idea it came into existence along with the means to manifest it.

That's the promise of the Law of Polarity.

Instant Manifestation and the Law of Polarity

The Law of Polarity states that everything in the universe has an opposite. There would be no inside to a room without an outside. Every up has a down and every down has an up.

Not only does everything have an opposite, but it is equal and opposite. If it's three feet from the floor to the top of the table, it's three feet from the top of the table down to the floor.

The opposite of a question is its answer, so when you have an idea, the way to manifest that idea is also present. They're like two different sides of the same coin.

People think that wealth and poverty are two different things, but they're not. They're just opposite sides.

This is true for any ill effect you're experiencing, whether it is debt or lack of prospects, sales or money.

If you're experiencing the opposite of the thing that you want, that thing is also around you. You just don't perceive it.

This is why instant manifestation is real. Once you can perceive it, it's already there.

Bang! It comes right into your field of vision. You have it. It's yours.

Yes, you do have to shift your perception in order to see ~ and experience ~ the other side of the coin.

I'll show you how to do that next time.

Hit an income plateau? Here’s how you SHATTER it…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,

I seem to hit plateaus in my life. I hit a goal and then have a hard time going to my next goal. Last year I did over $300k but for some reason I get comfortable and want to take it to the next level (7 figures) but am having difficulty turning on the motivation and clarity.

Answer:

Thanks for this question!

Let me answer your question with a question.

Why do you want to hit that 7 figure mark, and EXACTLY how much money do you WANT?

Remember, that the very first stage in creating the life you want is to make a decision.

The first step is to decide EXACTLY what you want (or better).

Your decision should be based on something you're emotionally tied to, something specific you want, and that really pushes you to “feel” your goal.

For example, Joe wants $500,000.00 by September 23rd so that he can buy the house at 567 Random Way, and move closer to his children, so that he can take a more active role in their lives.

Joe is emotionally tied to the money he needs because it will allow him to be closer to his children.

He's made the decision and he's emotionally connected to it. The emotional connection gives Joe a sense of urgency to attain his goal. He knows that the longer he takes to hit his goal, the less time he gets to spend with his children.

This sense of urgency keeps pushing him forward.

What is your sense of urgency to hit the 7 figure mark? What's going to get you out of bed in the morning to do what you need to do to hit that goal?

I have seen many entrepreneurs choose a financial goal out of thin air, and then can't understand why they have never been able to hit that goal.

They don't hit the goal because they are not emotionally connected to it, and there isn't a sense of urgency behind it.

There goals were wishy-washy.

For any entrepreneur reading this, ask yourself the following 3 questions:

1) What exactly do I want? (Make a list and attach a dollar amount to everything on it)

2) Why do I want this? (Be very honest about this)

3) What happens if I don't meet this goal? (This will help you determine how strong your sense of urgency is)

Once you've answered this question, expect to hit the goal, and take action toward this goal EVERYDAY!
