Why the “unexpected” should never distract you from your goal

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Regardless of how hard I try, I always only have “enough.”

I doubled my biggest annual income in just a couple months last year so I started paying down debt, investing in my business, saving more, etc. but then I had a bunch of “unexpected expenses” pop up (taxes, car trouble, family emergency, etc.), and now I'm worse off than before (although still making ends meet, for the time being). I'm at a loss. Help!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks so much for your question!

Based on your question, I do not believe you have an “abundance” or “wealth ceiling” problem.

Looks to me like you may have a focus and consistency problem.

Here’s the truth:

You’ll ALWAYS have unexpected expenses. What I’m wondering is what were you focused on as those unexpected expenses began to pile up.

As the car trouble happened, were you focused on the car trouble or were you focused on hitting your monthly financial goal?

When you experienced a family emergency, were you focused on the emergency or on hitting your financial goal?

The truth is that those unexpected expenses were just distractions created by your sub-conscious mind to keep you from growing.

The key to solving this roller coaster is to continually stay focused on what you want and what actions will take you closer to what you want.

There will always be unexpected expenses, what’s really important is to master your reaction to them. See them for what they are and DO NOT allow them to take your focus off your goal.

If you need to dedicate time to the distraction, do so during non-work time.

You can break this pattern easily if you’ll stay focused on your goal rather than on the unexpected expense.

What to do when unexpected expenses slump your growth

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I'm beginning to feel a bit jaded about my work/life… it seems like, regardless of how hard I try, I always only have “enough.”

You see, I want more for my life/business and it seems like, every time I make some traction, I have an unexpected expense (i.e. owing more in taxes, car trouble, family emergency, etc.). From what I read, this is an “abundance” or “wealth ceiling” problem.

I doubled my biggest annual income in just three months earlier this year so I started paying down debt, investing in my business, saving more, etc.; but then I had a few unsuccessful months since then, and now I'm worse off than before (although still making ends meet, for the time being). I'm at a loss. Help!

Can You Push Away Negative Thoughts?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Brian.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David. I heard you say many times that if you're working in a positive direction toward your desire, and then suddenly you turn negative, like, “Oh this will never happen!”, you push it away. By the same token, if you went into a negative slide and were afraid of manifesting a negative result, then stopped, turned it around to positive, would you push the negative result away?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Brian!

The answer to your question is actually quite simple.

You manifest what you focus on.

Reminder: Manifest means to become aware of what already exists.

If you focus on the negative, you will then manifest negative. If you focus on positive, you will then manifest the positive.

You don’t actually push anything away, you just manifest where you focus.

Here is the key…

If you’re moving in a positive direction toward your desire, you must make sure you are conscious of your thoughts.

Don’t allow negative thoughts to enter, and if they do, don’t give them any energy.

Acknowledge them, and then tell them to get behind you…you are staying on your path regardless.

Immediately return your focus to your desire.

DO NOT try to rationalize with your negative thoughts, push them away or figure them out. By doing that you actually put your focus on the negative.

Keep your thoughts positive. For example, let’s say you’re in a cash flow crunch…

DO say to yourself: The money is here now; there is opportunity everywhere. And then take action when the opportunity presents itself.

DO NOT say to yourself: When is this cash flow issue going to end? What am I going to do if the money problem isn’t solved? In this scenario your focus is on the lack of money, not on the solution.

Focus only on what you desire and turn your back on those negative thoughts.

The great entrepreneurial FLIP FLOP

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,

For the last 23+ years of my life I have been going back and forth between two completely different paths in my life. It has kept me stuck and unproductive at becoming successful like I would like to be.

I have gone back and forth between being a martial arts instructor (as an employee) and owning a photography business. I LOVE both. I can no longer do both. I don't have enough hours in a day to build either profession to the bigness I would like to. The end result is that I am confused, tired, and broke.

I know I am at a critical time in my life, and that I need to decide between them. Leave (for good) one of them, and explode the path I choose into the greatness I know I am capable.

I LOVE both so much… and am in agony in making this decision. I have been in this “place” for several years now… and it is too painful. It is my constant thought 24×7.

What am I not seeing in making this decision? Why can't I make the decision and stay true to it? I feel the longer I waffle back and forth; I loose major credibility with family, clients, and myself.

Help me to understand and see what I am not seeing so I can make the decision that I can move forward into in building a satisfying productive and successful life and career.

Thank you!

Answer:

Hi!

Thanks so much for your question.

You can't chase two bunnies.

In simple terms, it means that what ever you focus on will grow. What's happening right now is that you're splitting your focus, and consequently, neither business is growing.

In your case, I would recommend that you choose either photography or martial arts, and focus 90% of your time and energy on building that specific business. When you have that business up, running and successful, you can then hire people to help you expand, so that you can then focus on the other business.

There is a common misconception that you can only have one desire. It's just simply not true.

Many successful entrepreneurs have several loves and several businesses, but they built each one at a time.

I do have to be honest with you about something though. I sense that there is a hidden fear that is causing you to be indecisive.

Do you doubt your ability to make money in either of these businesses?

Are you worried what people will think if you choose one over the other?

Is there something or someone you will need to let go of if you make a decision?

Get very clear on what the underlying fear is, and then make your decision.

Because you've changed your mind many times, you'll have to be extra committed to honor the decision you've made and see it through to success.

Your ego may even create situations to get you to change your mind. These situations are merely illusions.

Remember: Because Spirit gave you the desire; Spirit has also given you the way to step into that desire.

The difference between DEBT and DIAMONDS …

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,
You've mentioned the law, “If you have a strong enough desire for something, the money MUST be there.” Please say more about how this works. For instance, if I SHOULD manifest enough money to pay off debt, does this mean that I don't DESIRE it enough to manifest the money because it's more of a “should.” Or, in another case, if I really, really desire the $12,000 diamond necklace I saw in a window yesterday, am I likely to manifest the money. And if there is a conflict, as in a “should” and a “desire,” how do I resolve the conflict and do both.
P.S. Love your work.

Answer:

Thanks for this great question!

Most people aren't excited about paying debt, but that doesn't mean the money isn't there. I recommend paying off your debt AND buying the $12,000.00 necklace.

Your goals should allow you to accomplish ANYTHING you want, and if paying off your debt and purchasing a diamond necklace is what you want, that's the goal you should be setting.

However, you don't need to focus on paying all your debt at once. There's nothing wrong with paying it off in increments. You don't want to make paying off that debt a hardship for yourself, or you'll come to resent it, and that opens up a new problem. Make sure you don't sacrifice everything to pay it off.

The only flip side to your “desire and should” question has to do with shame.

If you have shame around your debt, if you're embarrassed by it, or try to hide it, you will have a difficult time manifesting the money needed to pay it off.

Why?

Because how you do anything is how you do everything, and if you're experiencing shame, it will prevent you from doing the things necessary to manifest the money.

So if you can't see that debt is simply a tool and be grateful for it and truly appreciate what it's provided to you, you may want to take a long hard look as to how you actually feel about the debt.

Once you drop the shame and negative feelings around it, you'll be surprised how much easier it will be to manifest the money to pay it off.

Everything but the kitchen sink…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Clarice.

Question:

Hi David! I work with brick and mortar business owners as well as on-line entrepreneurs to help them in ALL areas in their business. I help them with social media, copywriting, webpage creation, and mindset to name a few. I have a nice size list and I'm marketing like crazy, but I'm not getting any response or feedback from my list. Any ideas what's going on I need to start making some money and FAST?

Answer:

Thanks for your question Clarice!

You aren't getting any traction with your list because you haven't been clear about what you want and who you'd like to work with.

It's better to focus on one thing and take action on that one thing rather than to focus on many and do nothing.

Ready to get moving?

First, you MUST figure out who you would most LOVE to work with. Is your ideal client a real estate agent, an entrepreneur new to her business, someone searching for a purpose, or someone needing help building a team? EXACTLY who would you most LOVE to work with? Yes, I know, you don't want to exclude anyone, but you must pick ONE for now. Create a detailed profile for that person.

Your list is confused, because they don't know you're talking to THEM. And a confused list NEVER buys.

Next, decide what your most pressing need is RIGHT NOW. If your biggest need is cash flow, create a plan around the fastest way to satisfy that need, and focus on your ideal client. So, if your biggest need is cash flow, don't waste your time on website design. Websites don't produce cash flow, sales conversations do. Immediately focus your efforts on tapping in to the resources around you.

If you want to speed that progression up, you must have a clear target market, message and goal.

When you send off confusing messages and you get confusion in return.
