The Difference Between Goals and Having a Vision

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from Ryan.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I’ve heard you mention goals quite often in your teaching. I’m confused… is a goal like a vision? Can you please clarify for me?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Ryan and thanks for the wonderful question.

A vision is a clear picture of what you’d like for your life or business.

Let me explain.

When I was just starting out, my vision was pretty simple. I could only see a few things.

I wanted a boat and I wanted to buy property in Central Wisconsin for when I retired.

Some people have grander visions like a house in Italy or speaking on huge stages.

The key piece with a vision is that it is not about anyone else. It’s what you want for you; and it maybe hidden in your secret thoughts that you’ve never told anyone about.

A goal is a step toward that big vision.

It’s something you need to do that will take you closer to realizing your vision.

My vision was to buy a boat, so I set a goal for myself to double my income.

By increasing my income, I would be closer to having the ability to buy that boat.

Think of goals as the rungs of a ladder that leads to your vision at the top.

Keep in mind that as you take steps toward your vision, it may begin to change.

As your vision changes continue setting goals to take you closer to that vision, and when you see opportunities, always ask yourself:
Is this taking me closer to my vision or further away?

Let your vision be your guide.

Blaming your competition?!?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Judy Katz. You can find her on the web at www.wealthtransformations.com

Question:

How can I break out of the pattern of being the best kept secret when it comes to my business? I fall back with the thought that so many people do what I do. How am I different, etc

Answer:

I’m going to cut right to the chase with this one…

The truth is that there is no such thing as competition.

There is only one YOU. There may be 5,000 different people who teach what you teach, sell what you sell, or provide what you provide, but there is only one Judy Katz! You bring your gift to the world through you, and there isn’t another you and so there cannot be competition!

AND

You’re using this excuse to stay hidden and small.

So the real question to answer would be; what are you afraid of that’s keeping you the best kept secret when it comes to your business?

I know that Spirit wants more for you than you want for yourself. Your purpose on this planet is NOT to stay hidden.

So, my question to you is…how is it serving you to stay small? Now, before you react, take a moment and really think about it.

What would happen if you really stepped into your purpose and became the huge success you know you would be?

Would it mean that your relationship with your friends or family would change?

Would it mean that you’d need to let go of something that you weren’t so sure you could let go of?

Would it mean that others may judge you?

You’re staying small for a reason, and it’s been a choice of yours to do so. The key to getting out of your own way is to become aware of what you are resisting. What are you not willing to do that’s keeping you stuck?

You also have to understand that if you continue to stay small, you are doing a disservice to those people who are looking for your help. Remember, if you have the desire, the way to fulfill it is waiting for you.

It just starts with a decision to get very honest with yourself about why you are choosing to stay hidden and then begin to walk right through those fears.

Once you become aware of your fears, you must bring the truth to it and TAKE ACTION!

Each day when you wake up, write down the 6 most important things that to be done that day to bring you closer to the goal.

Practice this every day.

It will take discipline, but it’s the most important habit you can develop as it will have a DIRECT impact on the success of your business.

Forget Your Goals!

For many years I have used the beginning of the New Year to set goals and help others do the same. This year, though, something is different for me… I did not set a goal.

This is vital information if you want to make BIG breakthroughs this year.  Every time we set a goal we unconsciously slip into the “how do I reach the goal?” mindset.  “How” is the key word in the question, because the how, at times, can be a difficult question to answer.

STEP 1:

Now think of something you would like to achieve, whether it relates to money, health, relationships or anything else in your life.  Pick just one thing.  Got it?

STEP 2:

Now if you could have the situation exactly as you would like it, what would that look like?  Got it?

Okay, so what comes next?

Well, for most of us, if you really want to achieve that “thing” (your answer above) you begin to think of ways to accomplish the goal.  The reason why most people fail to achieve really big goals is that the path to the goal is not in their head.  It's in the universe.  When you try to think of a way to achieve it you are literally forcing.  Forcing it never works.  It only causes frustration.  Still, there are plenty of people out there telling you to set new and big goals for the New Year.

Many years ago I changed my approach to life and business and, ever since, I always set goals.  Many of my goals were big.  VERY big.  Some of them I reached.  Some of them I didn't reach, or didn't reach them in the timeframe I had intended.  Usually though, I reached them all but changing the timeframe was sometimes necessary.  The problem this creates for many people is it causes pressure for them to reach the goal.  They then end up trying to figure it all out on their own.  For this reason, the plan they come up with will usually be within the belief framework of their own consciousness.  For most, this means more work and more effort because they have been taught if they are to achieve anything they have to work for it.  And usually work pretty darn hard for that matter.

I had my first real breakthrough with this when I realized that it was easier to earn $50,000 a month than it was to earn $50,000 a year.  Once I realized this, my life transformed overnight.  So breaking through the struggle of money is one of the first things a person should learn to do.  However, there are so many other areas where struggle is a problem for so many people.

Here is a piece of advice I would like to share with you that will help you achieve whatever you want in less time with less effort:

First, ask yourself…

“Who would I like to be this year?”

You see, doing and having are the result of who you are being.  Being is the first piece. Once you decide on who you want to be this year the exact way for you to be that will begin to show up.  If you are willing to act on those things you will zoom into the things you want.  After all, the universe knows how to get you a result much, much faster than you could possibly think of on your own.  All you have to do is go with the plan that comes your way as long as it will give you what you want to be.

You can accomplish much more than you ever thought possible in a much shorter timeframe.  But you have to be open to these suggestions first. Do you know who you want to be?

Belief, Perception & Reality…

I just had a great conversation with a friend who was telling me about some business associates who have had a complete turn around on their dream.

A few months ago, they were enthusiastic and on fire for their future. Unfortunately, they didn't keep their  mental doors locked and something negative slipped in.

All failure begins this way. People have wonderful hopes for their dreams and goals, and when their circumstances suggest something different, (such as an obstacle or lack of result)  the perceived difference becomes the initial seed of failure.

Being unaware of how this process destroys the dreams of countless people, they fall victim to its seduction.

Take a look at what happens and how this process works:

We all have two parts in our thinking – one is our dream or goal, and the second is the belief that it might not happen. This is where most people start out.

Next, something begins to spark them into moving on the dream, and they take some sort of action for a period of time.

Not having a full understanding of the Laws of Success, they are actually moving in the direction of their dream with a great deal of ignorance. Ignorance is not necessarily a bad thing, as long as a person stays open to what he/she must learn along the way.  The problem is many individuals are not open to growth & change.  They experience a point of failure.

This is the point in their journey where moving forward becomes to painful or fearful, and a person usually chooses to stay safe.  Being unaware of how success works, it is also the point where if a person did move forward, they would begin to see the bigger win they are hoping for.

Your beliefs control your perception of everything in your world, which in turn creates your reality.  If you want to change your reality you must use new information to change your beliefs AND your perception. Until you see things differently, you will continue to makes choices that keep you where you are.  Eventually, you will give up on your dreams.

Hey – in my opinion, if you are not living life on the edge you are taking up too much room.

Have a great week because you deserve it!!
