“Accurate Thinking”

Of the 17 Laws of Success that Napoleon Hill wrote about, the number one law most people overlook is “Accurate Thinking.”  The major reason for this becomes apparent when you begin to study human behavior.  “Accurate Thinking”  can only be accomplished if one is to learn to think accurately.  Not only are most individuals never taught how to do this, their egos actually resist having to make this personal change.  The average adult has a very difficult time accepting the idea that they don't think accurately.  Interestingly enough, the more education and success they have managed for themselves the more ego that is usually built up and the more they resist these ideas.

I have witnessed many people who have paid for an expensive education (attaining various levels of success) meet terrible trouble once they are on their own in an entrepreneurial venture.  The reasons for this are often explained by the entrepreneur pointing out what “circumstance” brought down his/her business.

With the EGO in control they hold tightly to their story and continue their downward spiral until they either change or become so frustrated and overwhelmed they quit.  What's fascinating is another person can experience the same OR WORSE set of circumstances and not only does is not bring down their business, but it's used as a launching pad for even greater success.

When you break from the bondage of an employer and decide to follow your own path, you must understand that your success depends on a completely different set of rules than you played by before.  The new path that you are on is filled with new decisions and the way you make these new decisions must come from this new form of “Accurate Thinking.”  Prior to this, your decision making process was almost entirely based on weighing facts and circumstances ONLY and then making seemingly logical decisions based on prior knowledge.  This knowledge came from the rules you had previously been told as truths for your life.

One of the most troublesome decisions a person must make is when money is involved.  Usually it is the lack of money that is the problem.  It looks something like this:

The lack (or limit) of money a person has in their possession is a hard fact to them.  Yet they are attempting to follow their dream and whenever a person does this they are met with various opportunities that are essential to the fulfillment of the dream.  What is not understood is each opportunity requires the person to step into an uncomfortable place and overcome whatever challenge keeps pressing their situation.  In all cases, you are presented with the same challenge, though it may appear to come in different forms. If you look closely you will see the core of the problem is the same.

When the problem is money and it controls your decisions, you are not following the spirit within you, rather you are following a limited situation BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO OVERCOME THE SITUATION.  This requires a new kind of thinking –  “Accurate Thinking.”  To acquire “Accurate Thinking,” you must learn not only the concepts behind it, but you must experience it and integrate it into who you are as a person.  Now ask yourself this very important question.  When opportunity to advance  comes your way what is the underlying cause of your decision to either do it or not do it?  The universe will give you whatever you ask for but if you ask from a place of lack you will never get what you want or need.  The success you want is real, the wealth you desire is really here for you and everything you need to help bridge the gap between where you are right now and where you want to go is being presented to you everyday.  If you are thinking accurately you will see it.

3 Steps to Increase Your Flow of Money

Whether you learn from such legendary marketing and business experts such as Dan Kennedy or the more modern solo-preneurs, all of them agree with the idea that your business, income and wealth all begin with a certain mindset.  Over the years I have never heard a better explanation than the one Raymond Holliwell gave in his book, Working with the Law.

Holliwell pointed out:

“If you are not succeeding, if you lack any good thing, look more closely to the cause.  It is not outside; it is somewhere within.”

Notice where you fail to use the Law correctly to think rightly.  There are 3 points in everyday life where one may fall into a snare & delusion:

Do you expect something for nothing?

Does it make you feel good or please you when you get something without paying for it?  If so, you are violating the Law.  Your returns will always be unsatisfactory.  No matter where you go be willing to pay your own way.

Have you known some person who hangs back when you go out for an evening's entertainment? They stand back and let the other fellow pay for the show.  People like that lose hundreds of dollars when they try to save themselves a few bucks.  The quality of thought they entertain REPELS many dollars they could attract. If you knowingly cheat another one of a dollar, it may cost you many dollars for the mistake.

Do you hunt for things that are called cheap?

Are  you are bargain hunter?  Cheap thoughts can only bring cheap returns.  Those who wait for bargain days will always have to take bargains, but remember – there are no bargains in life. If you have gained monetarily, you may have lost in other ways.

You place yourself in a vibration that lowers your present state.  It forces you below your proper level. It limits your thought to a state where you support underselling, cutting, bankruptcy and dishonesty on the part of the seller. He must deceive, cheat or lie about the price of the bargain (or some other article), because he is in business to make a fair profit. You become a party to the violation and come under its penalty.

Do you begrudge spending money?

Do you hate to pay your bills?  Release your money cheerfully, even if it be that last dollar you have.  Decide what your need is & if it is of greater value than the dollar in your hand, then spend the dollar cheerfully.  In this way, you comply with a law.

Oftentimes, we get to a low level and we begin to tighten our purse strings.

We begin to hold back.  This is like closing the faucet! It limits the supply from pouring in to you. The Law inevitably produces its own exactness as a rule of action. It's a Divine Law and tolerates no violation.

Not enough what?

Money?  people?  prospects?  sales? resources?  time?

Take a second and think about the last time you thought you did not have enough of something…

What was it?  Most people say money and time.

That is what it usually boils down to anyway.

Now we have all heard we live in an abundant universe, and many say they do believe it to be true, BUT then they turn and say they don't have enough.

They begin to justify their statement by claiming, “It's not the right time,”  “I'm not there yet,”  “God just doesn't want me to do or have (fill in the blank)…”

If you talk with these people a year later, most of them will tell you the same sad story all over again.

Why do people choose to live a life of such limitation in such an abundant world?

The truth is they really believe more in the idea of lack and limitation than one of abundance.

They want to experience abundance before they actually do something to change their life.

It doesn't work that way!  If you want a lesson in true abundance just take a look out your window!

If you even begin to contemplate nature and everything else the universe might contain, you have to come to the sobering conclusion that God did not create all of this on a budget!  Of course, considering the above statement would require one to really think, which is a topic for another discussion…

It is not enough to simple read about abundance.  One must begin to experience it, and the best way to have the experience is to continually mix with people who not only think this way – but live this way.

Let me share a secret with you…

You usually don't have to go looking for like-minded people because they are looking for you.  You just don't see them.

Why?

Because people come with opportunities for you, however their opportunity requires that you give what you are afraid to give up.  (Money, time, etc.)

The universe really is trying to give you what you say you want, BUT it can't do it your way.

(After all, your way has taken you as far as you can go).

Your way has walls, but the universe has none. Your way has fear, but the universe has none. Your way is limited, but the universe is not.

You must realize that you cannot get anything without giving something.  I'm not referring to giving in return,
but rather giving FIRST.

Why not start by giving up the things in your life that are currently keeping you where you are?

Money, commitments, relationships, guilt, & memories are just a few things which have control over your thinking.

Begin to let them go, one by one, and you open the door to a whole new way of being and living!

Create your status. Fill it with achievement.

Entrepreneurs create their lives differently than the majority of people.

The majority, or the masses, have been taught a different set of beliefs and values based on hard work and incremental achievement.

They also believe that atonement is somehow given to them by other people.

“If I get good grades, then I'll get praised.”
“If I do a good job at work, then I'll get a raise.”

Success minded individuals know their achievement, promotion and income is created by themselves, and it begins with their thinking. Next they fill their lives with all the things that support a “success mindset.”

They surround themselves with like-minded people.

They invest in their skill development and take responsibility for their own personal growth.

They also understand that getting uncomfortable is a PREREQUISITE to all of this and they even learn to become comfortable living out on this edge of life. My mentor used to say, “If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much room.” I happen to agree.

The edge is the creative place to be and keeps a person growing and headed in the right direction.

People who play it safe and think they are going to maintain the status quo are living in ignorance of a very basic law of the universe. The Law says, You are either growing or dying, but nothing remains the same. Everything is in a state growth or death.

Now, ask yourself this question: Are you constantly preparing for your own success? Successful individuals realize that preparing is nothing more than a stalling tactic created by fear. It's unfortunate some people can't seem to get out of the “preparing for success” mindset. You see, once you make a decision to create your own success you move on that decision, everything you require for the manifestation of your dream begins to move to you.

A.L.Hunt put it this way:

1. Decide what you want

2. Decide what you will give up to get it

3. Get on with the work.

Does that seem scary? It should if your goal and your dreams are big enough.

One of my favorite authors (Price Pritchett) explained it like this:

“Quantum leaps jerk you out of your comfort zone. Prepare yourself for a pretty wild ride. You're going to cover unfamiliar terrain and encounter obstacles you've never faced before. It can feel like the safety chain linking you with behavior patterns that worked in the past is being stretched to the limit.

At times you may wonder if the situation is about to spin out of control. The normal reaction is to want to hold on tightly. But you're going to have to learn to let go.

A quantum leap is achieved through release.

So turn loose if you want to jump.

Don't be surprised if you grow uneasy…that's a predictable part of the process. When you take a the quantum leap you ride the situation, but you don't really control it all that much. In fact, the only way you control it is by:

1. Knowing where you are going.

2. Continuing the pursuit

3. Learning from your mistakes.

A quantum leap is an act of faith, exhilarating and possibly scary at the same time. You have to give up a large degree of security and safety; plow through greater amounts of ambiguity and confusion and uncertainty, wrestle with a totally new set of problems, invite failure, and possibly contend with criticism from other people who have been part of your support group in the past.

Make you uncomfortable?

That's a good sign.

If you're experiencing no anxiety or discomfort, the risk you're taking probably isn't worthy of you.

The only risks that aren't a little scary are the ones you've outgrown.

A high comfort level provides solid evidence that you're “playing it safe,” not growing, not really testing your limits at all, and not in the process of a quantum leap.

You might be making gradual progress…that's possible but you're not going for a breakthrough.

Doing this carries you beyond your commonplace, everyday habits and calls for a little more nerve.

So just go into this expecting a touch of anxiety. Uneasiness is a predictable psychological reaction when a quantum leap is underway.

It has been said that if you will do the thing you fear, death of fear is certain.

Courage is not the absence of fear and anxiety, it's proceeding in spite of those feelings.

So press on.”
