When your spouse doesnโ€™t share your money mindset

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

Iโ€™ve been studying your teachings for some time now, but my husband has no interest in wealth mindset. We both have very different beliefs around spending and itโ€™s starting to create some problems for us, especially when we plan trips or larger purchases (like furniture). Do you have any suggestions on how to navigate this?

Neagle Code Answer

If you and your spouse have different beliefs around money, I recommend that you both start taking responsibility for yourselves.

Make your own money, have your own banking accounts, and split the joint bills and expenses.

If you want to save for a trip and he doesnโ€™t, go without him or offer to cover the cost of the trip, but be prepared for him to do the same.

So many couples struggle with money, especially if one partner makes more than the other. Sometimes it works great and other times itโ€™s incredibly disempowering for the person who is not the breadwinner.

If you feel like your decisions are limited by your husbandโ€™s money mindset, you need to have a heart to heart conversation with him, and let him know that from now on, youโ€™ll both be responsible for the bills, but that everything else will go into separate accounts.

This gives him the freedom to do what he wants with his income, and it gives you the freedom as well.

Itโ€™s against the Universal Laws to ask him to change. This way, youโ€™ll both have the freedom to believe what you want about money, and spend and save as you wish.

Where’s the Money?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hey David,

First off thank you for everything you are doing, your insights are helping me greatly and knowing where you came from encourages me.

You have said that we have the ability to bring in the amount of money to do what we need and want to do through creating a sense of urgency. When you say “bringing in the money” do you consider borrowing as a part of “manifesting money”? Just wanting to be clear on what options you are referring to so I don't shut out any opportunities based on old beliefs.

Thank you for your help. God Bless.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi and thanks for the great question!

The simple answer to your question is โ€ฆyes.

Let me explain.

To manifest means to become aware that something already exists.

When you have a desire and itโ€™s coupled with a sense of urgency, the Law of Polarity states that the way to fulfill that desire must also be present and possible. Which means, that the money you need for that desire is also present, you just may not be aware that itโ€™s already here.

It may be hiding behind an opportunity, tucked away in your savings account, or with someone else.

Borrowing is a perfectly acceptable way to โ€œbring inโ€ money. Obviously I would advocate that you abide by the payment terms of what youโ€™ve borrowed.

Remember, money does not come from people, it comes from Spirit THROUGH people.

My wife doesn’t want to be wealthy

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from TJ.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

Iโ€™ve been studying your teachings for some time now, but my wife has no interest in wealth mindset. We both have very different beliefs around money and itโ€™s starting to create a wedge in our relationship. Do you have any suggestions on how to meet her halfway and maintain the integrity of our relationship?

Neagle Code Answer

This is a great question, and one I get quite often. I wrote about this back in 2012 that Iโ€™ll repost below.

Money and relationships are pretty tricky, but they donโ€™t have to be.

If you and your wife have different beliefs around money, I recommend that you both start taking responsibility for yourselves.

Make your own money, have your own banking accounts, and split the joint bills and expenses.

If you want to save for a trip and she doesnโ€™t, go without her, but be prepared for her to do the same.

So many couples struggle with money, especially if one partner makes more than the other. Sometimes it works great and other times itโ€™s incredibly disempowering for the person who is not the breadwinner.

If you feel like your decisions are limited by your wifeโ€™s money mindset, you need to have a heart to heart conversation with her, and let her know that from now on, youโ€™ll both be responsible for the bills, but that everything else will go into separate accounts.

This gives her the freedom to do what she wants with her income, and it gives you the freedom as well.

Itโ€™s against the laws to ask her to change, this way, youโ€™ll both have the freedom to believe what you want about money and spend as save as you wish.

[Fast Cash Formula Series] Article #6 ~ Exactly Why Lottery Winners Go Broke

If you had the choice between a deposit of $5 million into your bank account or a change in your belief system to include the knowing that you can have whatever amount of money you want, which would you choose?

Most people would choose the $5 million, but you would be wise to pick the latter because, if that money were put into your account and you didnโ€™t change your underlying beliefs, youโ€™d be back to where you are today pretty quickly.

In fact, the majority of lottery winners end up broke several years later.

Thatโ€™s because the subconscious mind, which includes the belief system, works like a thermostat.

Where Is Your Thermostat Set?

If you set a thermostat at 72 degrees and the temperature drops below that, the heat will come on to bring the temperature back to 72. If it gets hotter than that, the air conditioner will kick on to bring the room back to its set point.

Similarly, if you were programmed to struggle financially, like many of us were, and youโ€™re thrust into sudden wealth, your subconscious mind will kick up a fuss in order to bring you back to where youโ€™re โ€œsupposedโ€ to be.

We see this all of the time in our culture. People increase their income and, all of a sudden, their life goes to hell in a handbasket. If they donโ€™t understand whatโ€™s happening, most will conclude that success is โ€œtoo hardโ€ or itโ€™s not the โ€œright time,โ€ and theyโ€™ll revert to where they were.

Shift Your Set Point

Because most of your beliefs were programmed before age seven and you may not even be aware of what they are, changing your set point around money requires diligence. You have to reject any ideas that reinforce lack and nurture faith in abundance.

Two simple ways to do that is to stop using coupons and waiting for sales. If you want something now, and you have the money for it, buy it. Say to yourself, โ€œI deserve to be paid full price for what I do, so Iโ€™m going to pay somebody else full price as well.โ€

Also, reject any notion that money is bad.

Many of us were taught that money is suspect, yet hard work is good. So weโ€™re working hard for something bad. That actually puts us in a conflicted place, as though we have one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake.

Is it any wonder that people find financial success difficult ~ and exhausting?

The truth is, as Iโ€™ve said, that money was an expansive idea that was given to us by the Universe to help us evolve as a species. We couldnโ€™t have accomplished all that we have without it.

If you can really absorb that idea and change how you think about and deal with money everyday, your beliefs will shift.

You will push up the set point on your money thermostat.

You can create that $5 million and keep it, because you will know itโ€™s yours.

[Fast Cash Formula Series] Article #1 ~ Financial Freedom is Within Your Grasp

Over the next few months, I'm going to give you step-by-step ways to bring fast cash into your business and life. Regardless of where you are in your career, the steps and principles can help you move to the next level.

My ultimate goal is that you experience financial freedom.

What Is Financial Freedom?

Financial freedom is not about how much money you have in the bank. It's an awareness of being able toย  create whatever amount of money you need whenever you need it. When you're financially free, if you need money to pay the bills, buy a new car, a house, send your kids to college or go on vacation, you know how to generate the money right away.

Financial freedom also means that if you suddenly lost everything, you'd easily be able to go out and build your wealth again.

As I've said before, the great thing about awareness is you never lose it. So, once you become aware of how to be financially free, you will never go back.

You will never again feel compelled to make decisions from a place of fear. For example, you won't save for retirement because you're afraid of being homeless when you're old. Instead, you'll have a wealth account that grows, enabling you to do more, have more and give more. That's a much more empowered place from which to save.

To get to that place, you must change your attitude about money. I'll talk about this more in a future article, but most of us have been indoctrinated to think of money as a necessary evil, to believe that it is suspect at best, when the truth is that money is a miracle.

Money Is a Miracle

By that I mean money is an idea from Spirit to help us evolve as a people.

The idea of money has allowed us to grow beyond the constraints associated with barter. We couldn't have accomplished all that we've accomplished as a society without money. And at our current level of development, it's an absolute necessity.

We're not supposed to worship money but neither are we supposed to vilify it. We're supposed to use it to help us fulfill our purpose ~ it's a tool, simple as that.

We also weren't meant to trade our life for money and, therefore, be enslaved by it. We're supposed to master it, use it to pursue our dreams.

That's what this series is all about ~ showing you how to master money and become financially free.

When you become aware that you can bring in whatever amount of money you choose, you are free, and you can do, be or have anything you want.

Here’s how you know it’s time to get a J.O.B!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Something is wrong and I am not able to convert inquiries into clients. I get contacted and that's it. I'm also networking and volunteering my services to help others and talk about what I do. What am I doing wrong? I don't know what to do. Thanks!

Answer:

First let's identify where the breakdown is taking place.

If I understand this correctly, you don't have any problems attracting potential clients, but you DO have a problem converting a potential client into a paying client.

This leads me to believe that there is a breakdown at the point of the sales conversation, probably right about when you are attempting to make an offer and discuss your pricing.

This is an uncomfortable point for many entrepreneurs. It's uncomfortable because they take their sales personally. They feel if a potential client says no to them, that they are being rejected. In fact, I know many entrepreneurs who would rather go bankrupt than to ask for a sale because they fear rejection.

The truth is, the client is saying no for other reasons.

They may say no because you haven't painted a clear enough picture of what they will receive (end result) in working with you.

They may say no because your energy is coming from a “getting” place instead of a “giving” place. (You know that feeling you get when someone tries to sell you something, and even though you really want it, you say no because the salesperson is giving you an uncomfortable feeling?)

They may say they want to “think about it”, because they just simply don't want to make a decision.

The key to getting to the bottom of the problem you're having is to pay very close attention to what you are saying, what you are feeling, and what you are hearing in your conversations. I even recommend recording some of your conversations so that you can listen to yourself ad pick out the points of breakdown in your conversation.

Here are a few more points for you to think about:

1. If you are attracting people who tell you they don't have the money to pay for your services, take a long hard look at your own relationship with money. These excuses are mirrors for your own beliefs.

2. Are you in control of the sales conversation, or do you feel that you're letting the other person run the show?

3. Do you feel you are “under charging” for your services, but have lowered your prices because you really want someone to say, “Yes”? If you discount, you will attract discount shoppers.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but step 4 is: Hire the best sales coach in your awareness! (That's me.)

Look, if you're in business, you're in sales. And if you don't learn to master the sales conversation, you'll never be the master of your income acceleration! If you're set on resisting improving your “sales set”, I would strongly suggest you think about GETTING A J.O.B. instead.
