Why canโ€™t I justify my rates?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Brandi T.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I am a massage therapist and have a lot of guilt around asking for what I really want to charge clients. I was raised with the paradigm of: It is wrong to charge a man who is dying of thirst $100 for a glass of water and wrong to deny a starving man food (particularly if I have more than enough), so Iโ€™m having a hard time justifying selling a service that people of all income levels need, but which most people truly cannot afford. I know Iโ€™m not thinking about this accurately, but Iโ€™m still stuck in it. HELP!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Brandi!

I know a lot of coaches and business consultants who struggle with this same concept.

First of all, I donโ€™t quite think your comparison makes a whole lot of sense. Charging a dying man $100.00 for a glass of water doesnโ€™t really compare with charging your fees.

Hereโ€™s the dealโ€ฆitโ€™s not your responsibility to save the world. If it were, youโ€™d be the only massage therapist in the world.

The truth is that youโ€™re looking at this all wrong.

The LAW states that if someone has a strong enough desire for something, the money MUST be there. What youโ€™re talking about is no different.

And your responsibility is to yourself only (and any dependent children, of course).

Hereโ€™s how I suggest you look at your fees.

Your fees MUST be set on your personal financial goals AND the value of the service that you offer. The value of what you offer must exceed the fees that youโ€™re charging.

The people who have the ability or willingness to pay you, WILL. And those that do not will find someone else to help them.

Itโ€™s a win-win situation. You get to work with the people who you really enjoy working with, and people who arenโ€™t willing to pay your fees will pay someone else to work with them.

More life to all.

Am I worthy of raising my rates?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous

Question:

How do I convince myself that Iโ€™m worthy of increasing my prices and receiving the financial success that I so dearly desire? I think somewhere I have a belief that I donโ€™t deserve financial freedom, because even though I want it, it eludes me.

Answer:

You donโ€™t have to convince yourself of anything. You just have to look at Truth.

The truth is that you are a divine being, created in the likeness of Spirit, God, Allah, or whatever spiritual belief that you subscribe to. You are worthy of everything and anything that you want.

This is TRUTH.

What made Bill Gates or Oprah worthy of their riches? They are the same as you.

Nothing separates you other than your own perceptions and beliefs.

The fact that you are even asking this question shows that somewhere a message got handed to you that you agreed with. The message could have been that you need to work hard for anything in life, or that you werenโ€™t good enough, smart enough, or pretty enough. Your self esteem was damaged, and you vowed that youโ€™d never open yourself up to that vulnerability again.ย  Questioning worthiness comes from a place of being afraid to be seen or heard for fear of ridicule.

Imagine for a moment what your life would be like if you didnโ€™t care what others thought. If you werenโ€™t worried about making mistakes, looking like a fool, or being humiliated. How would your decision making be different? More importantly, how would your LIFE be different?

I encourage you to make a decision today that you ARE worthy. Donโ€™t โ€œconvinceโ€ yourself.

Proclaim it.

Stand in your power, say it out loud, and continue to do so until small changes in your thinking and behavior begin to occur. Every morning, look in the mirror, and tell yourself that youโ€™re perfect just the way you are and that NOTHING unworthy of God is worthy of you.

Treat yourself like the King or Queen that you are.

Accept nothing less than what you desire and take action as though you are filled with confidence.

Only then will you see your brilliance in this world and be shown the opportunities in life that will change EVERYTHING.

Because, my friend, THAT is the TRUTH, and Spirit wants you to have all that you desire even more than you than you want it for yourself.
