Letting Your Parents’ Beliefs Affect Your Bank Account?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Mark.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

My father really abandoned the idea of wealth. His message was that money is not needed or the thing to work towards. What can I do to overcome that programming around money that's now in my subconscious? I really want to break through this.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Mark and thanks for the great question!

You know, it's not about breaking through anything.

It's about you understanding why you feel a need to be obedient to your father's rule in life because that's what's controlling your results.

It's not uncommon because we're basically raised to be obedient to our parents.

Somewhere along the line, it became painful to do something different than how your father saw life.

He still has authority in your mind over the way he thinks life should be lived, and you're being obedient to that authority.

Once you understand WHY you feel the need to be obedient, you can push through to form and follow your own beliefs.

Ask yourself this: How is it serving you to stay obedient to your father’s beliefs? What do you hope to gain from being the obedient son?

This is your life. You can live it how YOU want to live it.

Can You Change a Generational Blind Spot?

Can You Change a Generational Blind Spot?

If you have a blind spot, then it’s most likely a generational problem.

What I mean by this is that the people in your family have probably had the same problem (or blind spot) for generations… without being aware of it.

Here’s how this happens…

Somewhere back in your history or family lineage, problems started showing up. Your great-great grandparents had some kind of misfortune in their life.

If they focused on that misfortune, didn’t understand it, and couldn’t see a way out of it… then they created a belief system around it.

Everything about the problem — all the circumstances, people involved, and conclusions about it — all got formed into a belief system.

That belief got passed down to the next generation.

The next generation (your great grandparents) weren’t even aware of the original problem. They were only aware of the belief system that was passed down to them. So they accepted the belief system as being true.

This pattern continues. It goes down, down, down… to each new generation.

The next set of grandparents also accepts the belief system as being true.

No one thinks to themselves, “There’s got to be a better way or a different way.” It doesn’t even dawn on them that there could be a different way.

Meanwhile, the problem is getting worse.

The ideas, circumstances, and situations are progressively getting worse with each new generation.

Anything that is dysfunctional, dying, or decaying must continually move in a downward force… until something changes that force and causes it to go in an upward direction.

But if nobody realizes that they’re heading in a downward direction, nobody tries to change it.

So the problem continues from one next generation to the next… until it gets to you.

Now, where do you fall in the mix?

You were born. And you were given a set of beliefs by your parents… which were given to them by their parents, and so forth.

But here’s the thing:

Because youre reading this article now, you have the ability to turn everything around.

You wouldn’t be reading this article if you weren’t ready to take this downward progression of a blind spot (that has probably been going on for generations in your family lineage)… and turn it around for a big win in your life.

I live between two worlds. How can I live fully as an entrepreneur?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I am in two worlds, the corporate world during the day, and then my world as an entrepreneur – if I have the energy afterwards. I want to transition from the corporate world to having a successful, lucrative career running my own business, and so far, have had some small successes; but I want big success. However, I am not financially secure enough to just quit my day job, and I find the struggle disheartening at times. Any words of insight would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Neagle Code Answer

This is a great question and a perfect example of what I wrote about last week in reference to what Maxwell Maltz calls a Cybernetic Mechanism.

You see the truth is that you have a deep desire to be massively successful entrepreneur, but you also have a conflicting “set point” or sub-conscious belief that is giving you the message that it’s just not possible.

This belief is causing you to choose the perceived security of a day job over fully stepping into your gift. There may also be a hidden fear that’s keeping you from sharing your work with the world. (hint: judgment)

It’s hard to know the set point that’s stopping you without actually having a conversation with you. But just know if you truly wanted to be an entrepreneur more than anything and share your work, you would.

It’s the LAW!

Uncovering your hidden beliefs is going to be key in helping you see how realizing your dream is possible.

One suggestion I have for you:

Set a date to leave your day job and then go to work preparing for that day.

You must force yourself to release the belief that you need the day job to support you; it’s simply not true.

The other suggestion I would make is to really look at your beliefs and values. If you can become aware of what’s controlling your thinking, you can consciously choose differently.

Stuck and frustrated. How do I break this glass ceiling?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I’m so frustrated, and I’m not sure what to do to solve my problem. I seem to be stuck under a great glass income ceiling. Every time I have a great month and make sales, the following months decline, and my yearly income always stays the same (3rd year in a row). I feel like I’m “doing” everything I can to grow my income, and yet at the end of the 3rd quarter this year, here I am AGAIN. I want to scream!

Any suggestions for me?

Thanks!

Neagle Code Answer

What a fantastic question!

First, I want you to understand that sometimes your income has less to do with what you’re “doing” and more to do with what you believe.

Let me explain.

Maxwell Maltz, in his book Psycho-Cybernetics, teaches that all people have an internal “set point,” which he calls a cybernetic mechanism.

A cybernetic mechanism is a mechanism in both man and machines that determines and measures the deviation between a set point and a goal.

In fact, we have these set points everywhere in our lives. Think about your weight, your finances, and your environment.

What you may be experiencing is your own cybernetic mechanism or “set point” in regards to your yearly income.

Researchers have found that our cybernetic mechanisms are set based on our past programming. This means our ability to hit our goals, is actually based on beliefs that were passed on to us by others.

The only solution is to really become aware of what those hidden beliefs are, and then consciously begin to change and re-program them.

If you feel like you’re constantly trying to pedal up-hill, chances are that’s because your cybernetic mechanism is kicking in and your sub-conscious beliefs are working against you.

How does my internal “set point” affect my income?

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I’ve recently heard you talk about an internal set point that sometimes dictates your financial growth. I’ve always thought my income was based on my work ethic and my daily tasks. Can you explain this set point a little more please?

Thanks!

I’d be happy to!

Why fear is a powerful cue for growth

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Cindy L.

Neagle Code Question

Hello David,

I am at a point of stepping forward within my work as a therapist, and have already been invited to present at a couple of conferences, which offer great networking opportunities. What I have noticed with this clarity of how to move forward, is my utter terror about presenting and promoting myself and what I do, with clear intention to step up and move forward……WHY?

Thank you for any help with this.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Cindy and thanks for your question!

The answer to your question is both simple and complicated…let me explain.

The primary reason you are feeling terror is because your sub-conscious mind views any growth as risk.

You see, your sub-conscious mind is your feeling mind and it uses those feelings to attempt t keep you exactly where you are.

WHY?

Because keeping you where you are means that you are “safe”.

What you’re about to do requires growth on your part. It requires you to step out and experience things you have never experienced before, and your sub-conscious senses that “risk”.

Speaking on stage opens you up to judgment and vulnerability, which again, your sub-conscious perceives as “risk”.

Always remember…Spirit does not speak to you through fear.

So every time you feel that terror, recognize that it’s your sub-conscious mind trying to keep you from moving forward and KEEP GOING!

To help you better understand the fear you’re feeling you may want to take a deep look into your thoughts and beliefs.

Do you have a fear of being seen? A fear of judgment? A fear of looking foolish?

Doing some introspective thinking may shine some light on what is giving your sub-conscious the power it has to cause you to feel that terror.

However, regardless, you must keep moving forward…that’s the only way through the fear to your success.

[Fast Cash Formula Series] Article #14 ~ Why You Don’t Have It YET

Over the past several weeks, I’ve given you all the steps you need to achieve your goal. (If you missed any of those steps, you can find them here.)

If success were only about taking the steps, we’d be done with this series, and you would be near your goal. I know that some of you are well on your way, and that’s great. The rest? Your subconscious is likely at work, keeping you where you are.

In the next couple of articles, I’m going to show you two of the subconscious’s favorite tactics. This first one you’ve likely been experiencing all your life.

The Magic Pill
In order to get what we’ve never had before, we have to change. Those changes may be in our self-perception, money attitudes, beliefs, actions and so on.

The trouble is our subconscious mind doesn’t want us to change, and we don’t really want to change either. Change requires uncertainty, vulnerability and discomfort.

So when we want something more from our lives, we tend to look for the magic pill, the magic formula, the magic system that will give it to us without our having to break a sweat.

How many programs are sitting on your shelf or in your computer unutilized? How much money have you spent chasing the next great thing?

Now, don’t get me wrong. There are absolutely phenomenal programs out there that could take your business to places you could only imagine. But those programs won’t work for you until you grow into them. It’s that plain and simple. They won’t.

What happens is, we buy one of those programs and the second we understand that we have to make a change, we stop. We put it away and say, “It didn’t work. It wasn’t the right thing for me. I’m looking for something different.”

We perpetually get on the train of looking for something different, never understanding that the external change we want actually has to come from within.

Get Off the Train
Your money, your goal is waiting for you behind that change you don’t want to make, that growth your subconscious doesn’t want you to have.

But you have the power to choose. And you can exercise that power.

Get off the train and recommit to the opportunity you identified during this series. Pursue it all the way to its conclusion, making the changes that are required and growing into your goal as you go.

If you do that, you will collect your money. The Law of Polarity says it is so.

But more importantly, you will grow. You will become the person who has that thing you want. So rather than just having a million dollars, you will be a millionaire. You won’t just have a brand-new business, you will be a business owner.

That change in you is what you really want. Don’t avoid it. Don’t run away from it.

Embrace it. Let it guide you to become the person you know in your heart you are meant to be.

[Fast Cash Formula Series] Article #6 ~ Exactly Why Lottery Winners Go Broke

If you had the choice between a deposit of $5 million into your bank account or a change in your belief system to include the knowing that you can have whatever amount of money you want, which would you choose?

Most people would choose the $5 million, but you would be wise to pick the latter because, if that money were put into your account and you didn’t change your underlying beliefs, you’d be back to where you are today pretty quickly.

In fact, the majority of lottery winners end up broke several years later.

That’s because the subconscious mind, which includes the belief system, works like a thermostat.

Where Is Your Thermostat Set?

If you set a thermostat at 72 degrees and the temperature drops below that, the heat will come on to bring the temperature back to 72. If it gets hotter than that, the air conditioner will kick on to bring the room back to its set point.

Similarly, if you were programmed to struggle financially, like many of us were, and you’re thrust into sudden wealth, your subconscious mind will kick up a fuss in order to bring you back to where you’re “supposed” to be.

We see this all of the time in our culture. People increase their income and, all of a sudden, their life goes to hell in a handbasket. If they don’t understand what’s happening, most will conclude that success is “too hard” or it’s not the “right time,” and they’ll revert to where they were.

Shift Your Set Point

Because most of your beliefs were programmed before age seven and you may not even be aware of what they are, changing your set point around money requires diligence. You have to reject any ideas that reinforce lack and nurture faith in abundance.

Two simple ways to do that is to stop using coupons and waiting for sales. If you want something now, and you have the money for it, buy it. Say to yourself, “I deserve to be paid full price for what I do, so I’m going to pay somebody else full price as well.”

Also, reject any notion that money is bad.

Many of us were taught that money is suspect, yet hard work is good. So we’re working hard for something bad. That actually puts us in a conflicted place, as though we have one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brake.

Is it any wonder that people find financial success difficult ~ and exhausting?

The truth is, as I’ve said, that money was an expansive idea that was given to us by the Universe to help us evolve as a species. We couldn’t have accomplished all that we have without it.

If you can really absorb that idea and change how you think about and deal with money everyday, your beliefs will shift.

You will push up the set point on your money thermostat.

You can create that $5 million and keep it, because you will know it’s yours.

The difference between knowing and being

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

I understand the concepts of which you and others speak, but understanding them in my head is not the same as feeling them. How do I bring these into my heart/soul/body–internalize them– and REALLY feel them and own them?

Answer:

What a fantastic question!

I can't tell you how many times I've been teaching someone and they will say, “I know that.”  And yet, the effects of that knowledge are not showing up in their life.

Here is the key:

EXPERIENCE CREATES UNDERSTANDING

Let me explain.

There is big difference between consciously understanding something and subconsciously becoming that understanding. In simple terms, you have to live and practice the new knowledge.

Let's say an entrepreneur “knows” that they need to stop hiding behind their computer. They “know” that they need to talk to people. They “know” that they have a fear of rejection, and that's what's stopping them from having sales conversations. They “know” that if anyone judges them, that judgment is about the person judging and has nothing to do with the entrepreneur.

And yet, as the entrepreneur enters the room where they had intended to meet people and engage people in sales conversations, they allow their fear to keep them from speaking to a single person.

They “know” what's happening, but they haven't given themselves a new experience to prove that the fear is a lie. Therefore they haven't created a new pattern and integrated the knowledge. They don't truly KNOW.

The teachings that you consciously learn must become a part of who you are being, and to do that, you must experience them.

My friends are penny pinching & proud! Do I keep quiet?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

I was visiting with some dear friends who are very much in the Lack mentality. For instance my friend prides herself on how she only buys her clothes at Salvation Army because it saves her so much money or constantly is telling me how much she paid for something. I find myself either biting my tongue to share my new insights with her or judging her or thirdly slipping back into the same thought patterns. She is a dear friend and I don't get to see her often but how do you respond to people who are on a different path than you. Is it best just to keep quiet?

Answer:

Thanks for the great question!

I know first hand that this is a question that many people struggle with.

The first rule of thumb is that you should always surround yourself with people who are of like mind and goals. There is some truth to the old saying; “You are a product of the 5 closest people in your life”.

The second thing I'd like to point out is that if you're not verbally disagreeing with your friend, her lack beliefs are seeping into your subconscious.

Have you ever spent time with them, and then suddenly found yourself slipping back into lack thoughts and decisions, not even realizing it until you caught yourself days later?

And the third point here is that your friends aren't asking you to help them change, therefore, it's not your place to “set them straight”. They have the right to believe whatever they want, and if it bothers you, it's your responsibility to make the choice to accept them, or to limit your time with them.

Usually when I get this question, I ask, “How is the relationship serving you“, and I think it's something you may want to take a look at.

You've probably heard the saying, “A relationship is for a reason, season or a lifetime.”

It may be time for you to spend less time with these dear friends, and focus on making new friendships that support your ideals and growth.
