[Recommendation] Books that fuel me

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!  What do you believe is the single best place to start studying if I’m new to the “personal development” world?

Neagle Code Answer

I was just asked this question at a meeting I attended last week…actually I was asked about my favorite book.

And my answer was that I don’t have a favorite…I LOVE them ALL!

But I will give you a list of the books that I’ve found most helpful to my growth and the growth of my students.

If someone were to ask me what book has been the most influential in my life, I would say it is The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. I still remember the day I picked it up and read it, and I can honestly say, since that day over 20 years ago, I’ve never travelled or taught without it.

It’s a book that explained so much for me, and even now, I can open any page, at any time and see the truth in its pages. It appears to be a short simple book, but actually I’ve found that there are hidden “secrets” that most people miss.

I’m going to be sharing those secrets in a free training I’m hosting on Tuesday. If you’ve read it several times, or even if you’ve never picked the book up before, I invite you to join me.

If you’re interested, CLICK HERE.

The other books I’d recommend are:

  • You2
    – by Price Pritchett

  • God Works Through Faith
    – by Robert A. Russell

  • The Four Agreements
    – by Don Miguel Ruiz

  • Think & Grow Rich
    – by Napoleon Hill

  • Working With The Law
    – by Raymond Holliwell

Before you go blasting through each of these books to check them off your list, I suggest that you “STUDY” them. Go slow and take them chapter by chapter.

Each one of them contains pure gold.

And once again, if you’d like to begin your book study with me, click below to register for my upcoming free training!

Best books for growth

Is your coach a fraud?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Dear David,

It seems like everywhere I turn there is someone proclaiming to be a mindset coach, a wealth coach, a success coach or a manifestation coach. My problem is that after attending several seminars, those people who claim to be able to help others achieve their financial dreams, haven’t actually been able to achieve their own. What is up with this?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks for your question.

A few years ago I started noticing this trend as well.

And the simple answer is:

Erroneous understanding of the Laws is largely why you’re seeing this.

People calling themselves coaches, trainers, gurus, with no understanding—or a very perverted understanding—of how the Laws of the Universe work, started teaching the Laws as well as teaching spirituality and prosperity.

And, as a result, they started bastardizing the Laws and doing more harm than good.

I’m not saying this stems from malicious intent.

The teachers usually believe what they are teaching, but that teaching is filled with ignorance and very wounded ideas about how the Laws work, how Spirit works, how God and the Universe work.

This harmful teaching is creating mobs and mobs of people with the same lack of understanding, and lack of positive results, which is compounding the problem, creating destruction all over the place, and sending this industry into a downward spiral.

I can’t tell you how many times my team and I get questions about why the Laws don’t work for them.

That question in and of itself is a misunderstanding of the Laws. The Laws are ALWAYS working.

People are losing faith, losing hope, and they don’t understand how to turn this around.

My suggestion is to only work with people who have demonstrated through their results and testimonials that they truly have an understanding of the Laws. And when in doubt turn to the truth for the answers.

Truth can be found in any of the books you’ve heard me mention over the years. A few good examples are:

The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles
Working with the Law by Raymond Holliwell
Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill
As A Man Thinketh by James Allen

These books go everywhere with me, and I’ve made it my life’s work to study the laws and teach them in a way that can clearly be understood.

Want to ditch the up-level chaos?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I have been stepping up to bigger challenges in my business, which is very exciting, but this brings up feelings of chaos inside. The more I stretch myself and go out of my comfort zone, the more it happens. It can go on for days, and I watch and let it (chaos) happen, then I get on with things, but I wonder what can be done to stop this altogether? It's a waste of energy. Thank you.

Neagle Code Answer

What a fantastic question!

Here’s the good news…

You don’t need to create chaos every time you grow and stretch.

And the thing is…

You can control it all by
controlling your thoughts.

This is something I learned very early on in my own journey, and it’s why even today, I study profusely. Everywhere I go I carry my books with me.

You see, your thoughts and emotions CREATE your circumstances. Most people have that backwards. They think that their circumstances “happen”, and then they allow those circumstances to control what they think and feel. This in turn just creates more of the unwanted circumstances.

The next time you stretch in your business or personal life, arm yourself with the TRUTH.

As soon as you feel your mind going into chaos, take control of those thoughts by studying the truth.

Read books like:

  • Working With the Law  by Raymond Holliwell
  • As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
  • The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles

OR

The most important thing here is that YOU control your thoughts and your thoughts create your circumstances.

Fill your mind with the truth and the chaos will stop.

Pretty empowering, right?!

What to do when chaos controls your thoughts

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I have recognized how comfortable chaos is for me. It’s startling to wake up and admit to myself that when I grow, I create chaos, and then I sit in that chaos until something forces me out of it. I use the chaos as an excuse to stop. I’d like so much to change this, but am not sure how.

Thank you.

[8 Steps To A Live Presentation That Sells Series] Article #21 ~ You Be You

Before you do a presentation, you want to find out about the background and needs of your audience, and you may choose to tailor your content or delivery somewhat.

However, don’t change who you are. You have to be you.

This is especially true when considering feedback.

Be careful and discerning about whom you accept criticism from and how deeply you consider what they say.

Some people will criticize you just for being you. Don’t listen to them. And don’t try to please everybody, because that’s not going to happen.

Being too sensitive to other people’s opinions could devastate your speaking career. I've seen people receive criticism and just wither away.

Develop a thick skin, but make sure that it still lets in helpful feedback.

How do you tell the difference? You start by considering the source.

“You’re Really Not Very Good.”
A number of years ago, Bob Proctor and I were going to be teaching at a seminar a magazine was hosting on The Science of Getting Rich. They were having trouble filling the room, so they asked us to do a pre-seminar to sell people on the full event.

After my presentation, the magazine’s editor-in-chief came up to me and asked, “Have you ever watched yourself speak before?”

“No, I never have,” I said.

“I suggest that you videotape yourself and start studying what you're saying,” he said.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because you're really not very good.”

I smirked a little, and said, “Let's just see what happens with the sales.”

Sure enough, what happened was we sold the entire room. Everybody in that pre-seminar signed up for the full seminar.

When I asked Bob about the criticism, he told me to disregard it. The guy was an intellect, who’d probably never seen a sales presentation before. He reminded me that I packed the room, which is what I was there to do.

Seek the Advice of Professionals
Take advice, suggestions, and criticism from seasoned pros and people who know the business.

If you get criticism about your speaking performance from a member of your audience, ask a pro for a second opinion.

Some advice might be good, and you may want to consider changing what you’re doing. But some feedback will be full of hot air, and you need to ignore it.

Be Authentic
Once at a seminar, a member of my team told me that an attendee wasn’t happy with how quickly I was presenting the material.

I told him, “I'm not changing that for anybody. This is how I present, who I am and what I do.”

Don’t let people tell you that you need to speak faster or slower, step to the left, not gesture with your hands or whatever. Forget all of that stuff.

When you speak, just be the best that you can be, and be authentic.

Be you.

People-pleasing will not increase your sales. In fact, the opposite is true.

The more authentic you are, the more your ideal clients will respond to you, and the greater your sales are likely to be.
