The Art of Success – Article #17 – How to Release Your Past
How to Release Your Past
Everything in your past has been absolutely essential for you to become the person you are today.
It has prepared you for where you are now and where youโll be in the future.
However, a lot of us are walking around with junk from our past thatโs causing us to make present-day decisions in a dysfunctional way.
This causes us to make errors in the present. We think weโre doing things right, but really we are not. Weโre trying to move forward, but our past is holding us back.
Let go of anything from your past thatโs affecting your ability to make decisions in the present.
Itโs important to let these things go in a healthy way.
Weโve all done stupid things in the pastโฆ.and Iโve got news for you โ youโre going to do stupid things in the future. None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. We all do dumb things.
If you did something and realized you shouldnโt have done it, forgive yourself and let it all go.
You canโt change anything that happened in the past anyway, so you might as well let it go.
There are 2 ways to forgive and let go of the past, whether itโs forgiving yourself or others:
1. Accept responsibility. Whatever the situation was (or is), realize that you attracted it into your life for a reason โ for your growth.
2. Practice gratitude for it. Even if a situation is โbad,โ be grateful for it. Understand that you created it. Youโre constantly creating all the time. Everything thatโs in your life, you created.
A bad situation is there to teach you something. Thatโs it. Itโs not there to punish you, make you miserable, or cause turmoil or constant pain in your life.
Be grateful for everything. Gratitude keeps you connected to the higher Source where everything comes from to begin with.
If youโre calling everything into your life โ if youโre creating everything and being resentful for it โ how will anything ever change? It wonโt. Your mind will stay on same track. Itโll be resentful. Itโll be full of anger, hatred, or whatever it isโฆand youโll just keep thinking the same thoughts over and over again.
If youโre not grateful,
youโre resentful.
You have the power to choose. I urge you to make that choice now.
