Victim or Victor?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Heather B.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

Wattles tells us: “Use your present job or business to go to the one you like … act on your present environment to go to a better one.” But suppose someone is completely unemployed? What does he do? Suppose he was raised in a terrible neighborhood steeped in poverty and without opportunities? How does he act on it to get to a better environment?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Heather and thanks for your question!

What Wattles, writes is absolutely true. He’s really referring to being your best in ANY situation, which then leads to an awareness of how your situation can change.

I think the main thing I am picking up from your question, is that somewhere “he” is looking at “his” current situation as a victim looks at a situation.

The truth is, no one is forced to do anything, and the “he” you are speaking of is the cause of creating the situation to begin with.

If a person feels they are forced to live in horrible conditions due to lack of money, it means that they are being a victim of their own life.

Spirit doesn’t give one person unlimited potential and then cap the potential of the guy sitting next to him.

When Wattles teaches to act on the present environment, he is teaching that we need to change who WE are or how WE are thinking so that we can see that we have a different choice that will lead us up and out.

A victim will only see what keeps him being a victim.

Instead of being a victim, one needs to be empowered. Instead of focusing on the negative, we must ask ourselves different questions.

Instead of feeling forced to live in substandard conditions, one must seek out the way to bring in the money, even if it’s to begin in a minimum wage job.

Each step and decision will lead to a new and better opportunity only if the person truly wants to change.

The Art of Success – Article #5 – Are You Responsible?

Are You Responsible?

Last week I wrote about we were born to be creators.

You create everything in your life, whether you’re aware of it or not.

Another key to success is to take 100% responsibility for EVERYTHING you create in your life…the good, the bad, the ugly, all of it. Otherwise, you’re a “victim.”

Do you take full responsibility for everything you create in your life?

Think about this carefully. How you answer this question shows you your level of awareness, and your ability to create what you want (as opposed to what you don’t want).

An “unaware” person generally doesn’t take responsibility for everything in their life.

Ask them what they’re unhappy about, and they’ll have a laundry list of complaints. They’ll most likely blame something (or someone) for their undesired experiences. Or they’ll make excuses and shift responsibility to something outside of themselves.

This can be obvious — like saying, “It’s so-and-so’s fault that XYZ happened to me.”

Or it can be more subtle, like “If the weather’s bad I won’t follow through on my commitment.” (In which case, you’re pre-blaming any bad weather in advance for your lack of follow-through.)

When you’re blaming, you’re not taking full responsibility for your life. Period.

From that stance, you’re a victim. As a victim, you can’t proactively change anything in your life, let alone create what you want.

Here’s the truth:

Everything that’s currently in your life…
you put there.

Whether consciously or subconsciously…
you put it there.

It’s your life, after all.

Maybe you didn’t mean to put something there, and it showed up anyway. Great. How you choose to react to it will determine your experience.

If you don’t love a situation in your life, how can you change it?

My favorite question to ask in such cases is:

“Why am I choosing to have this experience/result/outcome?” (A victim would never ask that. They’d be too busy blaming and fuming about their results.)

Asking this question instantly puts you back in the driver’s seat of your own life.

If you’re willing to accept 100% responsibility for everything you’re creating, you can make phenomenal changes in your life.

Doors will open wide for you. It will seem like “magic,” but it’s really just one of the key elements of being a successful person.

That includes taking responsibility for every thought, feeling, and action you take.

Why did I lose everything?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Margo.

Neagle Code Question

A year ago I lost everything…my house, my husband, and my business. It was a dark time for me. Since then I've been trying to find meaning to help me see why I attracted those painful experiences in my life. Can you help?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Margo.

Sometimes it's pretty tough to find meaning in painful situations.

And honestly you may never really know why something happens, which is why I always turn to the truth in situations like this.

The truth says that the thing you need to overcome is the lesson you need to learn to become the greatest you in your life.

This lesson is part of your destiny. You wouldn't experience it if it weren't there to help you grow and heal. And I can say with absolute certainty, that there is an opportunity or a gift in EVERY situation.

Things happen not to hurt you
but to heal you.

So take a moment and look back at your life.

How were you different then compared to now?

Are you stronger?

More self-assured?

More independent?

Have those experiences opened doors that wouldn't have opened before?

You see, your soul created those experiences for a reason, and that reason is for you to GROW.

So be very careful of falling into a victim mentality, instead be grateful for the experience as it is helping shape who you are growing to become.

After all, sailing only on calm seas does not create great captains.

How to trust after a betrayal

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Richard.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I have had someone that I trusted embezzle money from me, and I just can’t let it go. I know it’s negatively affecting my business. Any suggestions on how I can move past this and create from a positive place again?

Thanks so much!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Richard!

I know how you feel.

I had something similar happen to me several years ago.

To get through it I had to look to the truth.

And the truth is that we create everything in our life…all the good and all the bad. And we create everything for a reason.

The first step in forgiving your business partner is to take responsibility for your part in it.

Ask yourself: What did this situation have to teach me?

Find the hidden gifts and lessons that you need to see, and be grateful for them.

The second step is to let go of that money knowing that you can put your efforts into creating it again, but this time from a better, more prepared and healthy place.

If you continue to see yourself as a victim of this situation, you will continue to be unforgiving and angry

If you can see this situation from an empowered place, everything will shift and you’ll feel the peace you’re looking for.
