Too Much Information

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Brad E.

Neagle Code Question

David,

I feel like I’m getting bombarded. I’m a little stuck in my business right now, and I know it’s a combination of an issue with my mindset and an issue with my sales process. My problem right now is that I don’t know where to find the answer. There are podcasts, YouTube videos, books, audios, Instagram, Facebook, Ted Talks, etc. from hundreds of thousands of “experts” all telling me what I should and shouldn’t be doing.

How do I sift through all this noise and find the answer without being duped, or fed misinformation?

THANKS!!!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Brad… I totally get it!

When I started my business, if I needed an answer, I went to the library or went to a seminar or event. The Internet didn’t exist.

Today… so much information is at your fingertips that it can be both overwhelming and confusing.

My first piece of advice is to find someone who has successfully done what you’ve done, and who is also at least 5 steps ahead of where you are right now.

Look for results-based testimonials, and do your research.

Follow them, and watch what they are doing not just what they are saying.

I remember when I first started following my first mentor, Bob Proctor. His greatest piece of advice was:

Pay attention
to what I do.

So I did. And it was my greatest source of education and training.

Then when you find someone, be willing to pay for individual coaching or consulting, and leverage his or her experience. Ask how you can help THEM, and be willing to give of yourself…this creates a win-win for both of you.
