[Fast Cash Formula Series] Article #7 ~ What Is Your “Why?”

In the last article, I asked you to identify why you have the particular bills that you do.
Today, I'm asking about a different why.
Why do you want to change? What is your motivation for up-leveling your life and business?
I ask you that because in order to keep moving forward despite any difficulties or fear, you must have a compelling reason.
You must become aware of a strong motivation within you to make a positive change, and then keep that “why” front and center.
Otherwise, if you don’t have that strong motivation, you might just give up on your dream.
My “Why”
Before I made my first breakthrough, I was living next door to a drug dealer. It was a very unsafe environment for my family, and I had to get us all out of there.
I had debt, bills, problems and pain, and I didn't want that to be my legacy to my family. I also was being exposed to success principles, and I didn't want to go to my grave without finding out if they were as powerful as they seemed.
Your Why?
What is your strong motivation to change?
Do you long to leave a worthy legacy for your children and others? Do you feel a calling you have to fulfill? Are you trying to get away from a toxic environment?
I know an author who worked 10 years on a book about an ancestor. Her “why” was, “If not me, then who?” If she didn't vindicate her ancestor, probably no one ever would.
The truth is, that statement is relevant for everyone. If you don't do what you're called to do, no one else will. Like Martha Graham said, if you block the life force that wants to come through you, it will never exist.
And if you don't connect with a deep motivation for expressing that life force, you may give up when the path becomes difficult or your subconscious creates chaos around you.
Don't let that happen. Look within and ask yourself: “Why do I want to better my life?”
Keep It Prominent
Once you know your “why,” think about it often.
Amplify it, extoll it, honor it in the ways that make sense to you. Make a video or audio recording where you talk about it in full, and then listen to it every week. Regularly engage in fantasy where you see your “why” play out. Make a visual representation of it, such as by putting up pictures in your office of your children or grandchildren.
Whatever you choose, keep your why front and center. That way, when you're experiencing difficulty or you have to do something challenging, it will pop immediately to mind.
For instance, early on when I encountered resistance to making sales calls, the ugly mug of my drug-dealer neighbor would appear in my mind's eye. You can bet, I immediately picked up that phone!
What could elicit the same response from you?
What is the “why” that will keep you barreling toward your goal?
Got it? Leave a comment below to share YOUR “why” with me. Perhaps together we’ll inspire others to do the same.

Always love your posts David! Very insightful, get me thinking and are on right on target 🙂
Appreciate it Angela. What thoughts came up for you after reading the post?
I want my legacy to be:
Breaking the genetic chain of disempowering thought patterns based in lack and fear. I continue to course-correct my own chain of shame related to the disempowering beliefs I chose to pass on.
I want parents to feel their power of influence in their children’s lives in a very different way than the status quo teaches and supports. I want children to keep their sense of empowerment and self confidence and know how to protect against someone trying to take that away from them.
Great Renee, what are you doing right now to make that happen?
My Why is to use my God given talent, and with my biz Savvy Central Radio propel others to live their dream; live big!
What keeps my Why! front and center is remembering the last 5 years in corp. were I not only had abusive bosses, lost all creativity and took a huge hit on my health. I never want to go back there!
Thank you David for sharing your Why! and your story and inspiring millions(including me:-)
Live Big Christina! I love that and can sense that your ‘why’ is really propelling you forward and a fast rate. Stay in-tune with that and what you desire will come to you effortlessly. I appreciate the post.
I believe that if every person in the world were sexually empowered, expressed their true deepest creative/erotic selves, held and exercised true agency over their bodies, sexuality and choices, overcame their shame and allowed themselves to feel pleasure, joy, fulfillment and ecstasy–that if we all allowed ourselves to connect to the playful part of ourselves that is fully expressed and uninhibited, the world would be a totally transformed place.
I think that war would end, violence against women would end, sexism would be a thing of the past, there would be no need for sexual assault or exploitation–because we would all exist in healthy relationship to our sexuality and respect the sexuality of others.
Each day, that vision of a transformed world of people who are so connected to their core power that they know they can do anything, drives me to do my work. I was called to do it and I’ve been given immense opportunities to develop myself so I could stand inside that threshold and call to the ones who say “yes” to this world I describe. Now I’m thinking about how to create images and expression of this in my new office and home so it is a more potent reminder… Thanks David!
Awesome Amy Jo, I couldn’t agree more. Your work is so needed; continue to keep moving forward. Thanks for the post.
I also wnat to overcome the immediate difficulties that are forcing me
to be less than I want to be and offer less to my loved ones than I would
love to offer. I have a book that I started to write 40 years ago and never
got around to finishing. I picked it up again a year ago and I’m on the last
chapter of the rough draft. I think it’s an important book and want to get
it right. Since I started confronting my inner enemy and taking more and
more responsibility, I’m making progress. I’ve got rewrites, but I’ve got the
story I need to tell in a workable form to shpe and polish.
Right now I’m offering my first teleseminar course that is developed by
repositioning a bit of the book mateiral. I want to become a master at
doing this. Many courses, many repositionings of that foundation material.
Thanks for another inspiring post David
Todd
Good for you Todd. You are overcoming fears that you have held on for quite some time and are shining the light on them. Don’t judge this shadow-self, rather celebrate it and tap into that creative power it holds. If you want to be a master in this area, prepare to continually hone your craft and always be putting yourself forward. That will position you as such. Keep me posted.
I have spent my whole life living up to other people’s expectations of me. Once my parents died, I thought, “Why am I doing this?” I then spent all of my time raising my 5 children and owning and operating my own veterinary practice. My children are grown now and I think again, “What am I doing? Why am I doing this?” Now, I would like to focus on me. My goal is to retire financially independently within the next 5 years. I don’t know how I’m going to do it, I just know I am going to do it.
It is time Renee. Time for you to drop anyone’s expectations and focus on being who you need to be in order to feel that sense of satisfaction. Just remember, you don’t need to know the how; only make the decision and stay committed to the result you want. There is nothing that can stop you except for yourself.
Why do I want to have a life of abundance and peace? Because I know that’s what’s intended for me. And when I create it for myself, I can teach others to do the same and begin to break the mind-sets that are stunting the evolution of humanity. And if my kids can learn this at their young ages, they’ll be way ahead of the game as adults. The thing is, now that I’ve started, and I’ve begun teaching them what I’m learning, I HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY, or I suspect I’ll have done them an even greater disservice than having not introduced them to this at all. So, ultimately, that is my why.
That is for sure Carin. It can sometimes be difficult living a live of awareness, but it is the most rewarding place to be. That you have worked to get it, and have passed that along to your children, only serves to empower them to continually change-adapt-grow. What more else could you ask for? Thanks for the share.
Hi David, my big WHY is that I dare to admit that I LOVE having money and finally clearing out the guilt of even wanting it. I want to heal beliefs of greediness and selfishness and badness that are so tightly connected with money in my family.
I want my children to grow up with Mom who has abundance of time, energy, happiness and money while doing what she loves – helping others.
I want to teach others this is possible and HOW this is possible. I believe more and more that earning money indeed is learnable skill and I love it.
Past month I made money of last year! I will be in Phoenix at my first D7 week! Thank you for opening my eyes over and over again!
Shanti (from Slovenia)
Way to go Shanti! I cannot wait to see where your Destination Seven journey takes you. Surrounding yourself with this high caliber group only serves to rocket you forward to exactly what you desire. I will see you in Phoenix and look forward to the year ahead.
Hi David,
I LOVE how your why was about leaving a different legacy for your family…mine is too. I now teach and train and write books on a system called EFT MATRIX REIMPRINTING which clears family patterns, beliefs and disempowering stories set up by our early childhood…my first book You can Breakfree FAST documents how this method helped me change the legacy of my alcoholic childhood home regarding men and low self esteem. It also is the subject of my latest Kindle book on Goal Success. But where I need to Uplevel to fulfill my MONEY WHY is boosting my income to 6 and 7 figures following already your book which I am listening to on my ipod while on my holiday in Morocco. Plus applying your Compassionate Conversion Flow chart as I plan Platinum program’s based on my books when I get home to the UK. Thanks for this post to remind me to pass this new legacy on to my kids.
I love ‘obviously’ answered prayers! Funny how I stopped reading ‘the Millions Within’ at the exercise on page 65/66 to spend at least a week answering “What do I want?” and “Why do I want it?”. I was committed to completing the exercise before I kept reading. (My past behavior would be to just keep reading and tell myself I will come back to it.) So instead, I just stopped :o)
Today I read this article and the comments. I am now committed to completeing the exercise and I will get back to you next week with my ‘why’.
If there was ever someone who consistently is felt by my soul and heard by my mind, it is you! So grateful for you knowing and following your calling!
Blessing and Love!
Hi David,
I wrote down my desired income which is $3,000,000 a year. Then I wrote my why this way.
I want it because I can live life on my own terms. I can expand my influence far more greatly than on $20,000 a year. I can help alot more people. I will be alot more because I will have to become alot more. I will be the person I want to be. I will have mastered life.
But then I realized that these can be expanded upon. So I did the first one this way.
I want it because I can live life on my own terms, meaning I am money’s master, not money’s slave. I have to answer to no one above me – no boss. My time is mine. My income does not rely on time. I can do anything I want – shop, travel, do business, expand business, play. Live life with pressure to expand and become more rather than under pressure for money. I can do what I want, when I decide to do it. I can buy what I want just because I want it without worrying about price. I can enjoy life’s finer things. Life is much more enjoyable when you have financial freedom.
That’s just the first one. I can expand on all the others, but that would be far too long here. But you see where I’m going. Thank you for all your teaching. I’ve learned alot more about myself and what I’m capable of.
