3 Steps to More Life

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from A.M. Williams.

Neagle Code Question

Happy New Year David!

I just recently figured out that what I want above everything else is More Life; specifically, happiness, harmony, and wholeness.

Within these three “wants” are all my income, health, relationship, and personal growth/achievement goals.

In your post from Dec 30th, the first step to creating what you want speaks of creating a clear vision.

And your third step speaks of letting go of things that don’t support the new commitment. Doesn’t that come with establishing new habits?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi A.M., and thanks for your question!

I am often asked how a person can follow the philosophy of More Life.

How can we have
more life in our life?

I wrote the 10 steps to turning any desire into a reality last month, but I feel this is a bit different.

More Life is the reality of the Universe; however, it doesn't become our personal reality until we are able to see that it's there for us.

So for you to achieve the goal of More Life, you too need to see that it’s there for you.

This begins with a change in attitude.

I made an attitude change in 1993 that has never failed me yet. I suggest you do the same, because this attitude change will allow you, if you do it every day, to see what you previously couldn't see before.

1. Fall in Love with what you do everyday.

2. Do everything in your life to the best of your current ability.

3. Treat all people with respect.

When you make these three attitude changes (so much so that it becomes who you are) you will see great changes come your way.

You will create a vision for your life, have more opportunity and remove toxic things and people from your surroundings.

Make a practice of changing these three things every day and you will have more life in every way.

Fuzzy goals? How to clarify your vision

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Shirley Marie.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

If I do not have a vision and am ready to totally reinvent myself and my direction, how do I start? Most exercises assume one has a vision, and I just can’t see that for myself, even though I feel I want something different. Please help.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Shirley Marie, and thanks for your question.

The truth is you do have a vision, but there is a part of you that is afraid of seeing it.

Here are two different strategies that I’ve found really help my students open to their vision.

Strategy 1:

Make a list of all the things in your life
that you are tolerating.

What you desire is just the opposite side of what you don’t desire.

Making this list is an excellent way of starting small and building toward a vision. By eliminating your tolerations one by one, you can begin to see what you do want for yourself.

Strategy 2:

Journal.

Let me be more specific. Approach your vision journal with an air of curiosity. Ask yourself: If I had a vision, I wonder what it would be…

And then begin writing. Don’t censor anything. Write it ALL down.

Be OK with it changing daily. Be OK with it seeming ridiculous, too big, not clear enough, etc.

Allow yourself to play with ideas and fantasize about possibilities. As you do this, your vision will begin to take shape.

And remember visions change. What your vision is today may not be your vision in a year, but start where you are and begin to make small shifts and advances.

What’s the difference between a goal and a vision?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I’ve heard you mention goals quite often in your teaching. I’m confused… is a goal like a vision? Can you please clarify for me?

Neagle Code Answer

A vision is a clear picture of what you’d like for your life or business.

When I was just starting out, my vision was pretty simple. I could only see a few things.

I wanted:

  • A boat
  • Property in Central Wisconsin for when I retired

Some people have grander visions like a house in Italy or speaking on huge stages.

The key piece with a vision is that it is not about anyone else.

It’s what you want for you;

and it maybe hidden in your secret thoughts that you’ve never told anyone about.

A goal is a step toward that big vision.

It’s something you need to do that will take you closer to realizing your vision.

My vision was to buy a boat, so I set a goal for myself to double my income.

By increasing my income, I would be closer to having the ability to buy that boat.

Think of goals as the rungs of a ladder that lead to your vision at the top.

Keep in mind that as you take steps toward your vision, it may begin to change.

As your vision changes continue setting goals to take you closer to that vision, and when you see opportunities, always ask yourself:

Is this taking me closer to
my vision or further away?

Let your vision be your guide.

Two strategies to clearly define your vision

Hi David,

I have been through many programs. I have a lot of degrees and training in my profession, but after 20 years and a heart attack, I do not and have not had a vision. Set and achieve your 2015 goals. Here’s how

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Brendan.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I’m thinking about my New Year’s Resolutions, and really want to be successful in keeping them this year. Do you have any recommendations for goal setting?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Brendan!

I love this question and it’s something I help all my Destination Seven Members with at each of our intensives.

FIRST:

Write down your big vision. Your big vision is what you want for your life and business way down the road. Think as far as you can think, and sometimes you may only be able to see bits and pieces of this vision. That’s perfectly fine.

As you begin to take steps toward it, you’ll start seeing it more clearly.

NEXT:

Write down 3 goals. You must be able to accomplish these 3 goals within the next 60 days, AND the goals must all take you one step closer to achieving your big vision.

FINALLY:

Choose 1 of your goals from above and list out 3 objectives or tasks you must accomplish that would allow you to hit that one goal within 60 days.

This process can be repeated over and over again, and I recommend that you keep your list in front of you as much as possible.

Soon enough it will be 2016 and you’ll have achieved all your goals for 2015 and be miles ahead of where you were in 2014!

Happy New Year!

The Difference Between Goals and Having a Vision

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Ryan and thanks for the wonderful question.

A vision is a clear picture of what you’d like for your life or business.

Let me explain.

When I was just starting out, my vision was pretty simple. I could only see a few things.

I wanted a boat and I wanted to buy property in Central Wisconsin for when I retired.

Some people have grander visions like a house in Italy or speaking on huge stages.

The key piece with a vision is that it is not about anyone else. It’s what you want for you; and it maybe hidden in your secret thoughts that you’ve never told anyone about.

A goal is a step toward that big vision.

Let your vision be your guide.

On Distribution: “How Do I Scale My Business?”

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions
for Life”
comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I am an artist, and have been successfully selling my posters into a specific retail genre. How can a “one woman band” grow distribution and a product line on a huge scale? I know if I can sell 10,000 of a product, then I could be selling 100,000 or more. How do I scale my business? Me, myself and I are very busy!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi — and congratulations on your success!

A common mistake I see business owners make is that they build TO their vision, not FROM their vision.

As you grow, there are specific tasks you don’t need to do anymore, which will free up your time to do what you do best.

Make a list of all the things you are currently doing that someone else can do. This should include everything except fulfillment and sales.

ASK: If you sold 100,000 posters, what problems would arise in fulfilling that order?

Then begin to implement the team and procedures that need to be in place to fulfill it successfully. Start selling now!

The money you need to build your company is in the sales. It requires you to have faith in your vision.

The question to ask is, “How can I?” And never listen to reasons why you can’t.
