Trust after failure

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

David,

How do you learn to trust yourself again after “failures” when your sub-conscious very strongly keeps reminding you of those failures and constructs new ways of keeping you stuck?

Neagle Code Answer

Fantastic question!

Failure is simply a judgment placed on a result.

The real problem lies with how we THINK and FEEL about failure.

If you fail and attach emotional meaning to that failure, it will trigger a core belief about yourself.

You may even say things to yourself like:

โ€œIโ€™m not smart enough, Iโ€™m never going to succeed, I canโ€™t believe this isnโ€™t working, whatโ€™s wrong with me?โ€

โ€œMy parents were rightโ€ฆโ€

Or even

โ€œ I donโ€™t even know why I botherโ€ฆโ€

This is how the downward spiral starts.

The truth is that failure is nothing more than a result.

And the purpose of that result is for our own learning.

Begin to see failure
as a GIFT.

Ask yourself:

What donโ€™t I understand about this?

Who do I need to be to get a different result?

The most successful people in the world have experienced more failure than success.

After all, your own success lies in the ability to respond to results… to course correct and take risks in order to get different results without attaching emotions.

Should I take the risk?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David! I have a successful business by all accounts. We have a high profit margin, my team is amazing, and weโ€™re growing. The problem: Iโ€™m bored. And Iโ€™m not happy.

I have an idea for a new business venture, but it seems risky and Iโ€™m equally excited and terrified (because of the financial risk) to step into this and bring it to market.

Any wise words of wisdom that may help me figure out what I should do?

Neagle Code Answer

GREAT question, and hereโ€™s the truth:

Things wonโ€™t always turn out the way you want them to. Look at what some of the most influential business people have done.

Jeff Bezos views ANY new idea as an experimentโ€ฆand every experiment has the potential to fail. But here is the differenceโ€ฆBezos doesnโ€™t allow his failures to define his value. He sees failure as part of what is required in all areas of business.

And let me tell you, heโ€™s had his fair share of failuresโ€ฆ ah hemโ€ฆ remember the Fire Smartphone? Yeah, me neitherโ€ฆthatโ€™s because it was a total flop.

Hereโ€™s the thing.

If it excites you and terrifies you, youโ€™re on the right path!

Obviously you want to do your research and make sure thereโ€™s a market for what you want to create, but if the market is there and youโ€™ve done your research, the risk is worth the reward.

Donโ€™t let your results define you. See, any obstacle or failure is an opportunity to learn, grow and make what youโ€™re creating even better.

The fact that youโ€™re bored and unhappy is an indicator that itโ€™s time to stretch and grow.

And if youโ€™re not growing, youโ€™re dying.

I recently wrote an article that was published by CNBC and Yahoo Finance that I think may help as well.

How can I focus when the โ€œfear of failureโ€ overwhelms me?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Marjorie H.

Neagle Code Question

I just walked away from my corporate job of 17 years and for the last 6 months or so I have been trying to โ€œfind myselfโ€. I've been doing a lot of soul searching and a lot of journal writing, and I come up with great ideas. I start working on them, and then I begin to experience this overwhelming fear of failure and I jump to something else. I know I need to focus on one thing, but I'm afraid if I spend too much time on the wrong thing, I could fail and have wasted all that time and possibly be out of time and money. I really hated my corporate job, but at least someone was always telling me what to do. Do you have any suggestions on how to navigate this?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Marjorie, and congrats on the beginning of the rest of your life!

The key thing to understand here is that it is your FEAR OF FAILURE that is causing you to stop and find something else.

Let me remind you of something really important.

FEAR IS A LIE. And it is not from Spirit.

Fear is not a message to you from Source thatโ€™s trying to redirect you or help you course correct. It is from your ego.

And your ego has one goal in mind: to stop you from growing.

You see your ego views growth as a huge threat, and it will go to every length possible to keep you โ€œsafeโ€.

Instead of allowing fear to direct your decisions, I recommend using the following four questions:

1) Is this something I want to be, do or have?
2) Is being, doing or having this taking me closer to my goal? (You want a yes here)
3) Is being, doing or having this in alignment with Universal Law (more life to all)?
4) Does being, doing or having this violate the rights of others (does it take away someone elseโ€™s right to choose)?

The determining factor in using these questions is that you must answer yes to the first three questions, and no to the fourth.

When experiencing indecision, using the four questions above will help you see clearly which direction to take without letting fear take the reins in your life.

Once you make a solid decision using those four questions, then itโ€™s time to exercise both belief and faith. This is where most people get tripped up and they stop.

Iโ€™m going to be facilitating a 3-day seminar on this exact topic July 26th-28th. I highly suggest you join me at Manifest Success Seminar and gain both the awareness and the confidence you need to step into your new life. Click here for all the details: www.davidneagleseminars.com

Donโ€™t hesitate to make this decisionโ€ฆthere are fewer that 20 seats left!

Why the โ€œfear of successโ€ is a lie

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Bryan S.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

Can you please tell me how to get over the fear of success? I believe itโ€™s whatโ€™s continually stopping me from hitting my goals!

Thank you so much!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Bryan and thanks for your question!

The truth is that no one is actually afraid of success.

Thatโ€™s a false lie created by our ego.

If you were afraid of success, youโ€™d never put your pants on the in the morning, because even putting your pants on is a success.

In reality what people ARE afraid of is:

1) The fear of what they believe they will have to sacrifice to be successful. This is mainly true in regard to relationships.

2) The fear of what people will think if they were successful.

3) The fear of what people will think if they fail.

These are the top 3, but of course there are many other fears that keep us bound in chains and constantly striving for success yet never achieving it.

So you are correct, you are sabotaging your success.

Universal truth states that we create everything; all the good and bad, all the successes and all the failures.

So you need to get very clear on how never achieving the success you want keeps you safe.

I know youโ€™re thinking, โ€œNo David, not having the success keeps me feeling unsafe, why would I not want success?โ€

And I would answer that you have to consider what fear is renting space in your brain, because if you wanted that success as much as you wanted air to breath, you would have it.

Are you a victim of failure?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.ย

Hi David!

My question is short and sweet. How do I turn my failures into success very quickly?

Fantastic question!

The key ingredient in turning a failure into a success is to not see “failure”.

Let me explain.

Failure is a judgment placed on a result.

The problem lies with how we FEEL about failure.

When we fail, we attach meaning to that failure and it triggers our core belief about ourselves. We say things in our mind like, “I'm not smart enough, I'm never going to succeed, I can't believe this isn't working, what's wrong with me?”

And this is how we get pulled into the emotions of our subconscious programming, and we get stuck in failure.

The truth is that failure is nothing more than a result. And the purpose of that result is our own growth.

When we do not get a result that we like, we need to look at that result through the eyes of a learner and ask ourselves questions to help us understand why we did not get the result we wants.

A couple great questions to ask are:

What don't I understand about this?

Why am I choosing to experience this?

How is this result serving me?

Who do I need to be to get a different result?

The most successful people in the world have experienced more failure than success.

The difference is in their ability to not take the failures personally and to respond to them rather than being a victim of them.
