How to create an unshakeable mindset

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Gheeta K.

Neagle Code Question

How do you create an unshakeable mindset?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks for the question!

There are two key factors in creating an unshakeable mindset.

One is understanding, and the other is experience.

Allow me to explain.

I am an avid student. One of the really great things my mentor taught me a long time ago was how to study, and to this day I never travel anywhere without my books.

I’m constantly holding my thoughts up to the light of the truth that is found in those books.

In this way, I can consciously understand what’s happening around me.

This is step one of a solid mindset. Study.

The second step is to give yourself a different experience, because you see, experience creates understanding deep in your subconscious.

If you don’t give yourself a different experience, your new understanding doesn’t become part of who you are being.

Let me give you an example.

Sarah is reading about abundance, and she learns that her environment is incredibly important in manifesting her desires. She consciously understands the concepts, and it makes complete sense to her.

She looks around her office and notices that she really needs some organizers and that flowers would really make a difference.

The next time she’s at the store, she sees the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and it stops her.

She really wants the flowers, but doesn’t like the price tag, and even though she feels different energetically around the flowers, she decides to pass them by because she believes they are too expensive.

Sarah has a conscious understanding of the Laws, but she’s not putting those laws into practice, therefore her understanding has not become part of who she is being, and her mindset is not unshakeable.

She desperately wants an abundant life, and yet, she makes her decisions based in lack.

Have faith in the Laws and put them into practice in every area of your life.

It’s the only way to create a rock solid mindset.

Understanding resistance: how to tell if something is not right for you

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Amanda E.

Neagle Code Question

How do you know the difference between when resistance is because something isn't right for you vs. resistance because you REALLY need to do it to take yourself to the next level? Thanks so much, David!

Neagle Code Answer

What a fantastic question!

I think it would help if we used a specific example here, and because so many entrepreneurs resist sales, let’s use that as the example.

First things first. When you decide to do anything in your business it is important to ask the question,

“Is this taking me closer to my goal, or further away?”

We know that the lifeblood of any business is really sales. If you don’t have sales you don’t have a business.

Making sales calls WILL bring you closer to your goal, if your goal is to build your business.

Yet many people will tell me that they are not sales people; that it’s just not in their personality.

And it’s a big lie. They are resisting doing the thing that will grow their business because of fear.

The crazy thing is that many people won’t even try. To really understand if something is not for you, you have to do it long enough to determine if it’s not for you.

Herein lies the difference between knowing if something is not right for you or if you’re resisting something.

I’m sure you’ve all heard the phrase, “You won’t know if you like it until you try it.” There’s a lot of truth to that statement.

If you’re wondering if you’re resisting something, get very honest with yourself. Determine if doing it will bring you closer to your goal, and if it will, DO IT!

How to set up boundaries between work and personal life

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

HELP!!! As a small business owner, my entire life is devoted to running and keeping my business afloat. I have not had time for a personal life. When I get with people in my industry, one or two things tend to happen:

1) They want me to mentor them for free;

2) They want to sell me their services when all I want is a friend.

How can I separate my business and my personal life when they are one in the same?

Neagle Code Answer

Thank you for the question!

The problem you are describing in your question is nothing more than a boundary issue.

The fact that you see your business life and personal life as one is a key indicator that you have not set proper boundaries for your life and in your relationships.

Your business life should be your business life, and your personal life should be your personal life.

Here are some suggestions on how to set proper boundaries:

1) Have a set start and end time to your work day. Do not let your work invade your personal time. Work will always fill the time you allot it, so you may find that you are much more efficient when you have a limited time to work on your business.

2) Get involved in something outside your business. If you like to fish, join a fishing club. If you like to read, join a book club. If you like to hike, join a hiking club. This will expose you to people who know nothing about your business, but still share the same interests that you do. They won’t want anything from you except your thoughts on your favorite fishing spot, book, or hiking trail.

3) Schedule time with your current friends and gently let them know that you’re not open to a conversation about your business, and you don’t feel you can be their coach and their friend at the same time. You’d much rather be their friend. If you’re worried about what you’ll talk about, think about purchasing a small box of conversation starters. They are great to spark new and interesting conversation.

4) Do some journaling about who you are outside of your business. You need to begin to realize that your business is not your identity.

Keep in mind that as you do this, you may feel a small bit of anxiety. It’s perfectly normal as you begin to redefine who you are and what life you most want to live.

Being or Doing. Which is more important in growing my business?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Michelle.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

Over the years of building and growing my business, I am always straddling and struggling between the Being and the Doing. Mentors of mine, including you, talk a lot about how much more it is the Being than the Doing, and yet the Doing is very important, too. Could you speak more to me about this? How can I truly find that place where I stand in both and understand how to best manifest the business and money I am creating, rather than going in and out of either one? Thank you, David.

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Michelle! This is a FANTASTIC question.

The simple answer is:

You do from who you are being.

Let me explain.

If you are a weak leader (being), you will make weak decisions (doing).

If you want to own a million dollar business, you have to grow into being the person who can lead a million dollar business. This means that you must start acting as if you already ARE a million dollar business owner and do things and make the decisions a million dollar business owner would do or make.

Here’s an exercise that may help.

For a few days keep a notepad with you.

Write down everything you “do”.

At the end of each day, go back through your list and ask yourself if a million dollar business owner would do those things, or if they would delegate those things to someone else.

Within a day you should start to see the discrepancy between who you say you want to be and the things you are doing.

Why am I scared to sell my services?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

If I'm honest I'm scared to sell my services. Many people I've spoken to don't even know what coaching is and when I've explained, I get a lot of negative feedback. I'm totally stuck and keep thinking that maybe I should just give up but something won't let me for some reason.

So my question is simply: should I give it up? Maybe the Universe is trying to tell me something!

Thank you!

Neagle Code Answer

You are absolutely right. The Universe is most definitely trying to tell you something.

Here’s the secret to finding out exactly what it’s trying to tell you:

1) Spirit never speaks to you through fear.
2) The desire you feel is GIVEN to you by Spirit.
3) Spirit never tells you what NOT to do…only what TO do.

If you are feeling fear around selling your services, you can immediately know that the fear you are experiencing is coming from your ego. And if it’s coming from your ego, you know it’s a LIE designed to stop you.

And when you are feeling the desire to grow your business and help others, you can immediately know that the desire you are experiencing is coming from Spirit. And if it’s coming from Spirit, you know it’s the TRUTH.

So, whom are you going to choose to listen to?

I hope you listen to that Spirit-given desire within you and begin to really take a look at why you have fear around selling your services.

You must realize that the fear is the only thing keeping you from your desire and then you must step through that fear.

How NOT to attract toxic people into your life

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Mindy H.

Neagle Code Question

How can I better recognize toxic people, so I can keep those types of people out of my life?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks for this very interesting question.

The truth is that we attract to us who we are being.

Start with yourself. If you love yourself, you will attract others who love themselves or who are in the process of learning to love themselves.

You see you are the center of your Universe. You attract people to you who will be a mirror for you.

Let me explain.

If you find that you’ve attracted a person into your life that has low self-esteem and it triggers you, it means that you have low self-esteem as well. That person is in your life so you can become aware of your next area of growth.

Remember, anything that upsets you about someone else in your life is about you and not them.

If you start with learning to love yourself, you will accept people for who they are without needing anything from them, or you’ll easily be able to let relationships go that no longer serve you.

I think Don Miguel Ruiz sums it up pretty well in his book, The Four Agreements, when he says that what people think of you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.

The reverse must then also be true. What you think of other people has nothing to do with them and everything to do with you.

If you want to attract people into your life that love themselves, you must love yourself first.

My self esteem is shot. How do I move through this difficult time?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

My self-esteem is in the toilet, and I'm terrified of other people and their judgments. My car is a complete wreck, and I'm really struggling financially. For this reason I isolate myself. I avoid networking events because I'm ashamed someone will see my car. I avoid promoting myself online because I feel that I have nothing of value to say. I avoid dating because I'm embarrassed by my poverty. How can I move through this? Who could possibly help me?

Neagle Code Answer

Right now, the only person who can help you is YOU.

You have to make a decision. And until you make that decision, NOTHING will change no matter who tries to help you.

Right now your programming, your fear and your ego are controlling your life.

All of the self-doubt, fear of judgment, shame and embarrassment were given to you by other people.

They were not given to you by Spirit.

You need to make a decision as to whether you are going to live your own life, or if you are going to be a puppet for someone else.

If you choose to live your own life, you need to immediately begin to do EVERYTHING you are resisting:

  • You must go to networking events to learn that people don’t care what car you drive.
  • You must promote yourself on-line to learn that you DO have something valuable to say.
  • You must begin dating to learn that how much money you make does not determine your worth.
  • You must stop hiding.

So to answer your question, no one can do this for you; you must begin to help yourself by first deciding you want a different life and then beginning to IMMEDIATELY take action to create that different life. In order to support you, STUDY the truth.

I would also recommend you consider joining me in my new low-cost program titled “Subconscious Success.” It will begin to give you the awareness you are looking for as to WHY you are experiencing what you are experiencing, and HOW to begin to think differently so you can act differently. Can I go into debt to invest in my business?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Is it OK to go into debt to build your business and invest in business growth strategies?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks for your question.

This question is the perfect example of my teachings on using debt as a tool.

I truly believe that the best use of debt is in the investment in your own growth, whether it’s personal, spiritual or business.

If you talk to any successful business owner, you will see that they have used debt to propel their business.

However, there are parameters around using debt to grow your business.

First, before considering taking out a loan, you MUST have a plan. You must have an actionable strategy with clear-cut goals and benchmarks or be investing in a program that’s going to give you that clear-cut plan.

Taking out a loan and not having a plan in place that allows for you to pay it back is financially irresponsible and only serves as a Band-Aid.

Second, you must be WILLING do what it takes to get a return on investment. This means you have to take action on your plan, and allow nothing to stop you.

A plan and goals are only as good as the paper they are written on. You must be WILLING to take action.

I see entrepreneurs EVERYDAY who spend money on building their business or getting the information they need to build their business, but they never take the action they need to take to grow, and life becomes very hard.

The debt piles up and stress, worry, fear and doubt take hold.

Suddenly they find themselves wondering what happened and why things aren’t working and why things are so hard.

You see…success is EASY if you are willing.

I’m doing a free mini-course on this exact topic at 2:00 pm ET on September 1st. I even titled it, “Stop Making Things HARD.” Click here to join me: www.DavidNeagle.com/hard-enough

Should I stay or should I go? A step-by-step approach to making the decision

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

If a person is not happy in a job choice or position does that mean the person should figure out how to change to become happy in any position, or should the person leave the job/position and find something that makes the person happy with the mindset they currently have?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks for your question.

I really love this question, and the answer is a bit step-by-step.

First, the person needs to figure out why they are not happy in their current position.

Is it because they can’t meet their financial goals in that position? Is there a conflict with a co-worker or team member? Are the tasks associated with the position not tasks that the person finds enjoyment in?

Depending on the answer to that first question, that person must decide if they want to stay or go. Chances are if the person is not clear why they are unhappy in their position, they will attract the same situation in their next position.

Remember, every obstacle is an opportunity for growth.

If they decide to go, it’s important that they change their attitude around the job and really look at how they can do their absolute best until the next opportunity is manifested.

Some of you may remember me talking about when I first worked on the loading docks in Chicago making $20,000.00 per year. I couldn’t make the money I wanted, I was miserable, and I had a horrible attitude.

As soon as I changed my attitude and did my best in that position, I became aware of a better opportunity that had been right in front of me the entire time, and that opportunity allowed me to go from $20,000.00 per year to $60,000.00 per year doing something I enjoyed A LOT more.

Changing my attitude was the KEY factor in finding the next opportunity. I was making things so difficult for myself.

I see all sorts of business owners doing the same thing, which is why I’d like to invite you to join me for my free training titled, “Stop Making Things Hard!”. During this training I’ll go into detail about the things we do to make our goals so hard to achieve and how we can overcome this sub-conscious trap. Can I manifest money to pay off debt?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

You've mentioned the law: “If you have a strong enough desire for something, the money MUST be there.” Please say more about how this works. For instance, if I SHOULD manifest enough money to pay off debt, does this mean that I don't DESIRE it enough to manifest the money because it's more of a “should”? Or, in another case, if I really, really desire the $50,000 car I saw drive by me yesterday, am I likely to manifest the money more readily? How does a “should” versus a “desire” affect manifestation?

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks for this great question!

Most people aren’t excited about paying debt, but that doesn’t mean the money isn’t there. I recommend paying off your debt AND buying the car.

Your goals should allow you to accomplish ANYTHING you want, and if paying off your debt and purchasing a new car is what you want, that’s the goal you should be setting.

However, you don’t need to focus on paying all your debt at once. There’s nothing wrong with paying it off in increments. You don’t want to make paying off that debt a hardship for yourself, or you’ll come to resent it, and that opens up a new problem. Make sure you don’t sacrifice everything to pay it off.

The only flip side to your “desire and should” question has to do with shame.

If you have shame around your debt, if you’re embarrassed by it, or try to hide it, you will have a difficult time manifesting the money needed to pay it off.

Why?

Because how you do anything is how you do everything, and if you’re experiencing shame, it will prevent you from doing the things necessary to manifest the money.

So if you can’t see that debt is simply a tool and be grateful for it and truly appreciate what it’s provided to you, you may want to take a long hard look as to how you actually feel about the debt.

Once you drop the shame and negative feelings around it, you’ll be surprised how much easier it will be to manifest the money to pay it off.
