How Not to Take “One Step Back”

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Anna.

Neagle Code Question

I’ve been quite successful recently. My business has grown and grossed more money than ever. I have higher net profits, and a strong vision for my goals and why I’m doing this.

However, I feel like I take a big step forward…then I take a step back. I end up with a “net” forward, but not as much as I’d like.

Why do I self-sabotage after doing really well?

Thanks!
Anna

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Anna,

Thanks for the question!

You have what’s called a “financial set point.”

We all have an internal compass that dictates how much money or success we’re allowed to have. It’s set at a certain level (based on our programming), and once we go past that level… it gets stuck.

That’s when you find yourself “taking a step back.”

To break through this, you must first understand what’s actually taking place in your mind.

Let’s say you start making a lot of money — far more than what you were programmed to make.

Your financial set point immediately kicks in.

Once your brain senses that you’re making more money… it runs away from that, because it thinks it’s not safe. (It’s unknown.)

Our mind hits this place where it goes, “You’re OK here. You can back off from whatever you were doing.” And you take your foot off the gas.

It will cause you to “not feel like doing the work today.”

It will cause you to “get depressed.” (Or sick. Or tired.)

It will create some kind of “extenuating circumstance” in your life — anything to knock you off the disciplined routine you have for earning.

Your internal financial “governor” is literally controlling your behavior.

It will bring you right back to wherever your “financial set point” is.

Before you know it, you’ve dropped back down, and it takes all your energy to get it back up. You get exhausted. It drops back even further. We go through this cycle our entire life… without realizing what’s going on.

(That’s why you’ll have one month where you make “the most money you’ve ever made before”… followed by a $0 month or several low months.)

In these moments, ask yourself, “Why I am taking my foot off the gas?”

The way to break through it is to keep going, no matter what.

Keep your eye on your goal.

You have to make an agreement with yourself that you’ll keep going — keep doing the actions needed to bring in the money — so that you can have a breakthrough.

The whole idea is that you never stop. You continually break through and take action to move you forward.

By doing this, you’re reprogramming your mind to believe there’s an abundance.

If you do this, then you’ll break through it forever.

Generational Blind Spots

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Andrew P.

Neagle Code Question

David, I believe I have a blind spot around money. I can list off lots of reasons why I think this, but the primary reason is that I have been stuck at a financial ceiling in my business for over 4 years now…and I often catch myself making decisions based in a lack mentality. How can I uncover what this blind spot is? Is it just simply a belief?

Thanks!
Andrew

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Andrew,

So here's what I want you to consider first off.

Your problem… your blind spot is probably a generational problem.

I want you to think about something. Somewhere back in your history, in your family lineage, problems started, and those problems literally became belief systems.

Now, I want you to think… if your great-great-great grandparents had experienced some misfortune in their life, and they didn't understand it, and couldn't see a way out of it, what would invariably happen is they would create a belief system around that problem.

That problem, all the circumstances around that problem, all the people around that problem, all the conclusions of that problem would become a belief for them.

It then gets passed down to the next generation that comes along until it finally hits you and your generation, and you have no choice but to accept it as being true.

(Remember, prior to the age of 7 you didn’t have the ability to reject beliefs.)

You’re now in a place where you are asking a different question. You’re ready to take this downward progression of a blind spot that has probably been going on for generations in your family lineage, and actually turn it around for a big win in your life, and that's what I want to show you how to do…but I can’t do it in a single email or blog post so…

I’ve created a 3-part video series that will show you EXACTLY how to identify and break through a blind spot. It’s completely FREE and you can access it HERE.

And congrats to you for being willing to question the deep beliefs that are causing your problem!

I can’t ask for money

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

I've lived the Law of Attraction for years now and all but one part of my life “clicks.” My bills are paid. My new desires are met. I love what I do and find that incoming jobs come to me at the perfect time. I'm so happy I could bust, except for this one thing.

I find it gut-wrenching to charge for my work. When I invoice, I rarely charge what the work was worth. I am excellent at what I do, as my clients will attest. I have good self-esteem. I just prefer to do what I love and let the Universe provide.

I'd like to step up my income and move to the next level, which will mean charging what my quality of work is worth. Can you help?

Neagle Code Answer

I love this question…

I need to tell you something, and I’m typing it with nothing but love.

You don’t have a good self-esteem.

If you did, you wouldn’t be afraid of the rejection you would have to deal with when you begin to charge what you’re worth.

Above you said that you’re excellent at what you do, and that your clients will attest to it. So tell me, if this is the case, why would you find it gut-wrenching to charge for your work?

You prefer to do what you love and let the Universe provide because you are afraid of what will need to happen for you to grow. You would need to stand in your power, be confident and not be afraid of hearing the word, “no”.

And let me tell you something, the Universe doesn’t “provide” anything. You create it. And right now you are creating just enough to get by.

You see Spirit doesn’t speak to you through fear, therefore, it’s not Spirit that’s making it gut-wrenching to charge for your services.

It’s your ego.

Your ego knows that you are afraid of rejection and judgment from others, and so it uses that belief to stop you from growing.

Charging what you’re worth means that you would need to grow into being that person, and that’s something your ego DOES NOT want you to do because it views any kind of growth as a risk.

So, what are the services you offer worth?

Pick a number.

Can you see yourself feeling good about asking for that price for what you offer?

Write it down and practice saying it out loud. Make it feel real to you.

THEN

In your next sales conversation ask for that price.

It’s the only way to push through that gut-wrenching fear.

When you get a surprise tax bill…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I’m a consultant and have been in business for about 5 years, and have steadily grown (at an admittedly slow pace). I guess you could say my growth has been incremental rather than a quantum leap.

Well this year I messed up, and I have been “slapped” with a 5-figure tax bill, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I was a little freaked out about how I’m going to pay my taxes and my own expenses.

Any suggestions on how to become aware of how to create a pretty big influx of cash quickly?

Neagle Code Answer

You know…I’ve had this question several times in the last couple of months, and there IS a solution!

When I was new in business I too experienced a similar situation, and needed to create a pretty big cash injection in a REALLY short time frame.

Here’s what you need to remember:

Based on the Law of Polarity, if you have a definite need, then the way to satisfy that need must also be present.

So the first thing you need to understand is that your situation is not without a solution. In fact, the solution is most likely very close to you.

From an energetic perspective you must DEMAND that the solution be shown to you. This may seem crazy, but when I need to see a solution, I will stomp around my office and demand at the top of my lungs to be shown the opportunity needed to solve my problem.

It MUST be there.

Second, you need to remain open to opportunity, and let me tell you, the opportunity to solve your problem may not seem appealing to you. In fact it may require that you re-examine something or do something you’ve been resisting for quite some time.

In other words, the solution will most likely be uncomfortable.

Once the opportunity is identified, you’ll need to sell. Whether you’re selling your services or you’re selling someone else on an idea or solution, you’ll need to influence someone to do something.

Sounds simple, I know…and it is if you’re armed with the right tool, which is why on Tuesday, I’ll be hosting a FREE training titled: 6-Figure Sales Secret. During this training I’ll actually share my experience in creating the solution to the very same problem you’re looking to solve…HOW to create a large cash injection in a short amount of time. Price is NOT the real objection

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

David,

I’m an attorney and over the last 30 days I’ve had a ton of sales conversations, and none have turned into committed clients yet, despite them all being “interested” and qualified.

They get all excited and then they baulk at the price and say, “It’s A LOT of money!”.

I feel like I know how to convey value. I know what to say, but when people resist the price, I back off and tolerate the, “Let me think about it and get back to you.”

I just don’t know what to say and I’m afraid of appearing pushy!

Neagle Code Answer

Fantastic question!

The true problem is that your fear of what someone is going to think of you is negatively affecting your ability to have a powerful sales conversation.

If you care more about how you are perceived than you do about helping people, you won’t be aware of specific questions you can ask to overcome the “It’s a lot of money” objection.

If you weren’t afraid of being pushy, you would have responded to “It’s a lot of money.” with “Compared to what?” instead of backing off.

You see, “It’s a lot of money.” is a conditioned response people use when faced with a decision that leads to their own growth. So you then have to ask them another question to see what the true objection is.

If you were to ask, “Compared to what?” you would be able to see how they are making their decision and allow you to redirect the conversation.

Knowing what questions to ask when faced with a sales objection literally gives you x-ray vision into what is going on in the mind of your prospect.

This is a VERY common problem for entrepreneurs and business owners, which is why, on Thursday, Nov. 1st at 3pm ET, I’m going to be broadcasting a FREE 90 minute video training that I’ve titled, “Why They Say NO”. My plan is to teach you how to develop that x-ray vision I referred to by using questions to understand what’s REALLY going on in your sales conversations. Rejected again

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Last week's situation: I ask for the sale, they know I can help them, so they schedule their appointments – and two or three days later, I get an email saying, “You're not in my budget,” or “I can't justify not paying other bills to pay for your services.” I've had a run-on of these lately. What am I supposed to learn here?

Neagle Code Answer

Fantastic question!

There are two things you can learn from this situation. The first is to be more powerful in your sales conversations.

Let me explain.

The main way people commit to anything is with their wallet. If you’re not getting their credit card up front, they really truly haven’t made the decision to work with you. It’s easy for their ego to convince them they don’t need you because they haven’t fully made the decision.

So the first thing you need to do, is when you get their verbal commitment, also get their financial commitment in the form of either a deposit on the service or paid in full.

Knowing that their money is non-refundable, and that they’ve made a solid decision, will help them “stick”.

Asking for a deposit will also help you determine if they are really serious about their commitment, or if they are just telling you what you want to hear to relieve the pressure of making a decision.

The second thing to consider is after you’ve received their verbal commitment AND their payment, simply ask them, “What is going to stop you from following through with this or from making yourself a priority?”

This is INCREDIBLY helpful if they call you back and say they’ve changed their mind, because now you can remind them they predicted this would happen, and you can resell them using THEIR own words.

Do you have rate guilt?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Brandi T.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David,

I am a massage therapist and have a lot of guilt around asking for what I really want to charge clients. I was raised with the paradigm of: It is wrong to charge a man dying of thirst $100 for a glass of water and wrong to deny a starving man food, particularly if I have more than enough, so I’m having a hard time justifying selling a service that people of all income levels need, but which most people truly cannot afford. I know I’m not thinking about this accurately, but I’m still stuck in it. HELP!

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Brandi!

I know a lot of small business owners who struggle with this same concept.

First of all, I don’t quite think your comparison makes a whole lot of sense. Charging a dying man $100.00 for a glass of water doesn’t really compare with charging your fees.

Here’s the deal…it is not your responsibility to save the world.

If it were, you’d be the only massage therapist in the world.

The truth is that you’re looking at this all wrong.

The LAW states that if someone has a strong enough desire for something, the money MUST be there. What you’re talking about is no different.

And your responsibility is for yourself only (and any dependent children, of course).

Here’s how I suggest you look at your fees.

Your fees MUST be set on your personal financial goals AND the value of the service that you offer. The value of what you offer must exceed the fees that you’re charging.

The people who have the ability or willingness to pay you, WILL

And those who do not will find someone else to help them.

It’s a win-win situation. You get to work with the people who you really enjoy working with, and people who aren’t willing to pay your fees will pay someone else to work with them.

More life to all.

The Key to A Rock Solid Mindset

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Anna P.

Neagle Code Question

How do you create a rock solid mindset?

Neagle Code Answer

Hi, and thanks for the question!

There are two key factors in creating an unshakeable mindset.

One is understanding, and the other is experience.

Allow me to explain.

I am an avid student. One of the really great things my mentor taught me a long time ago was how to study, and to this day, I never travel anywhere without my books.

I am constantly holding my thoughts up to the light of the truth that is found in those books.

In this way, I can consciously understand what’s happening around me.

This is step one of a solid mindset.

Study.

The second step is to give yourself a different experience, because you see, experience creates understanding deep in your subconscious.

If you don’t give yourself a different experience, your new understanding doesn’t become part of who you are being.

Let me give you an example.

Sarah is reading about abundance, and she learns that her environment is incredibly important in manifesting her desires. She consciously understands the concepts, and it makes complete sense to her.

She looks around her office and notices that she really needs some organizers, and that flowers would really make a difference.

The next time she’s at the store, she sees the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and it stops her.

She really wants the flowers, but doesn’t like the price tag, and even though she feels different energetically around the flowers, she decides to pass them by because she believes they are too expensive.

Sue has a conscious understanding of the Laws, but she is not putting those laws into practice, therefore her understanding has not become part of who she is being, and her mindset is not unshakeable.

She desperately wants an abundant life, and yet, she makes her decisions based in lack.

Have faith in the Laws and put them into practice in every area of your life.

It’s the only way to create a rock solid mindset.

Is the Universe to Blame?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.

Neagle Code Question

Dear David,

I’ve heard you say that The Universe provides money based on what you need.

Well, I have a credit card balance of $7,500. Each month I intend to bring in the money to pay this off in full, but all The Universe brings me is the minimum payment!

How do I work the Laws of the Universe to be able to pay the full amount? I really want to pay it off because it’s costing me interest fees each month. I would love your guidance. Thanks!

Neagle Code Answer

Thanks for your question!

First I think it’s important to explain how the Universe provides.

You see the Universe is completely deductive in nature. This means that it cannot provide to you anything that is not impressed upon it by you.

If month after month you’re not able to pay off that credit card debt, we need to look at the Law of Cause and Effect.

This Law states that for every cause there is an effect. In simple terms this means that there is something that you’re not doing that is causing you to only be able to create the minimum due.

Really examine
your actions.

Are you doing EVERYTHING you can to bring in the money you need even if it means working late, making extra sales calls, and sacrificing time with your friends or family?

Look at where you stop.

Be honest with yourself and ask to be shown what you are resisting doing or being in order to be able to bring in the full $7500.00.

Once you see the resistance, take action immediately.

It is through accurate action that you impress your desire on The Universe so that it can provide what you desire.

Do you charge for your time?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Gary V.

Neagle Code Question

Hi David!

I’ve done what you recommend. I’ve tried to work from my vision and set my financial goals. I have my number, and I know what that money would be used for…and what I will provide in exchange for that money. Here’s my issue: I cannot stop thinking about time. In my line of work, people generally pay for time rather than a result. And the truth is, people aren’t paying me for time, they ARE paying for a result. I also see others in my industry who are making a lot of money by NOT charging for their time, so I know this is a barrier in my own mind.

How do I shift this???

Neagle Code Answer

Hi Gary!

Thanks for the great question. Making the switch from charging by the hour to charging for a specific result is really challenging for a lot of small business owners and service providers.

It requires them to not only step out of the “norm”; it requires them to really

OWN
THEIR
WORTH.

And I have a hunch this is what you’re struggling with.

Here’s the truth… exchanging time for money is a middle class value.

A VERY high percentage.

But if you’re in a business that sells results, it makes NO sense to charge by the hour.

There are a several things that are required to shift this:

1) You need to make a firm decision that you are changing your pricing structure.

2) You need to be committed and disciplined that no matter what, you will not offer your hourly rate to ANYONE

3) You need to focus your marketing efforts on the “right” prospects and clients.

4) You need to hone your sales skill so that you can accurately convey the value of the result you are going to provide.

Just a word of caution here.

Your mind will try to convince you of ALL the reason this won’t work.

And it’s a lie.

It will work if you will step into your worth and demand your success.

Do not waffle. Stay firm in your pricing.

And you’ll be surprised how fast your bank account will grow.
