The Art of Success – Article #18 – Are You Suppressing?

Are You Suppressing?

Healthy self-expression is a “must-have” if you want a truly successful, satisfying life.

What does it mean to express yourself?

It means to give voice to your thoughts or feelings. You either say what you’re thinking or feeling, or you act it out physically in some way (or both).

You acknowledge what’s inside of you, and let it out.

As human beings, we were meant to have full self-expression.

However, as kids most us of were taught it’s not OK to express ourselves. In fact, we were sometimes punished for expressing ourselves.

Be honest…how many of you were not allowed to be angry?

And so as adults, we continue to suppress what we’re feeling and thinking.

Here’s the thing:

Whatever you don’t express, you suppress…and that will make you sick.

If you think or feel something but don’t express it, you begin to suppress it. You bury it inside of you.

This has a negative effect.

Everything you suppress will eventually find an unhealthy way to express itself with and through you. This is called “disease,” which is a body that’s not at ease.

Health is the natural state for you to be in, both physically and emotionally.

We must learn how to express what we’re experiencing in a healthy way…including the negative things.

It’s not “wrong” for you to experience something negative or to feel anger frustration or hurt. It’s merely a part of experiencing life.

If you’re feeling something negative, it’s the catalyst you need to have in your life that will take you to the next level — but only if you understand it and express it the right way.

One way to practice healthy expression is to start by writing your thoughts and feelings in a journal while allowing yourself to experience whatever emotions come up for you.

Write it all out on paper.

What needs to come out will come out.

Expressing yourself in a healthy way will create a deep sense of personal freedom unlike anything else you’ve ever experienced.

The Art of Success – Article #17 – How to Release Your Past

How to Release Your Past

Everything in your past has been absolutely essential for you to become the person you are today.

It has prepared you for where you are now and where you’ll be in the future.

However, a lot of us are walking around with junk from our past that’s causing us to make present-day decisions in a dysfunctional way.

This causes us to make errors in the present. We think we’re doing things right, but really we are not. We’re trying to move forward, but our past is holding us back.

Let go of anything from your past that’s affecting your ability to make decisions in the present.

It’s important to let these things go in a healthy way.

We’ve all done stupid things in the past….and I’ve got news for you — you’re going to do stupid things in the future. None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. We all do dumb things.

If you did something and realized you shouldn’t have done it, forgive yourself and let it all go.

You can’t change anything that happened in the past anyway, so you might as well let it go.

There are 2 ways to forgive and let go of the past, whether it’s forgiving yourself or others:

1. Accept responsibility. Whatever the situation was (or is), realize that you attracted it into your life for a reason — for your growth.

2. Practice gratitude for it. Even if a situation is “bad,” be grateful for it. Understand that you created it. You’re constantly creating all the time. Everything that’s in your life, you created.

A bad situation is there to teach you something. That’s it. It’s not there to punish you, make you miserable, or cause turmoil or constant pain in your life.

Be grateful for everything. Gratitude keeps you connected to the higher Source where everything comes from to begin with.

If you’re calling everything into your life — if you’re creating everything and being resentful for it — how will anything ever change? It won’t. Your mind will stay on same track. It’ll be resentful. It’ll be full of anger, hatred, or whatever it is…and you’ll just keep thinking the same thoughts over and over again.

If you’re not grateful,
you’re resentful.

You have the power to choose. I urge you to make that choice now.

The Art of Success – Article #16 – What Are You Sacrificing?

What Are You Sacrificing?

One of the Laws of the Universe is the Law of Sacrifice.

It states: if you want something of a higher nature — i.e., something that will to take you further in life — then you have to give up something of a lower nature.

That’s the definition of sacrifice. Giving up something to gain something else.

The truth is, you’re always sacrificing SOMETHING.
So, what are you sacrificing?

Here are some examples of “lower nature” things:

• Settling for far less money than you’d like to make
• Tolerating a job you hate
• Allowing people to mistreat you
• Not asking for what you want
• A cluttered desk or home environment
• A broken lightbulb
• Anything that causes you to continually feel guilt, shame, or some other destructive emotion

By allowing these things to stay in your life, you are automatically sacrificing things of a higher nature, such as:

• The dream income you’d like to earn
• A job (or work or business) you love!
• Relationships where people treat you with respect
• Asking for what you want and receiving it
• A beautiful, clean, tidy desk or home environment that inspires you
• A light bulb that shines bright!
• Things and experiences that cause you to feel joy, satisfaction, and peace

The Law of Sacrifice
can work to your advantage,
if you use it the right way.

You can’t have something of a higher nature and lower nature at the same time. It’s one or the other.

If you give up something of a lower nature, then you make room for something better to show up.

The flip side is also true. If you give up something of a higher nature, then you make space to keep the “lower nature” things present in your life.

You can’t have both.

It’s your choice whether you want to fill your life with things of a lower nature, or things of a higher nature.

Make a conscious choice about what you’re going to sacrifice.

What are you willing to give up or change?

On the other side of this change lies something far greater than what you are experiencing right now.

The Art of Success – Article #15 – 3 Keys to Building Confidence

3 Keys to Building Confidence

Here’s the truth…

A lack of self-confidence keeps a person from expressing their heart’s desire.

To experience success, you must be confident in yourself.

How do you
build confidence?

Key #1: Know your supply. We have to know our true supply (i.e., our source). This requires deep understanding.

Everything comes from ONE source. You could call it God, Spirit, the Universe, or whatever name you prefer. Everything comes from one source, and it comes through people. Nothing is left out. That includes money.

Most people believe their supply is other people. They then lack lack confidence, because they think people can shut them off from what they desire.

They’ll tip-toe through life, afraid of someone telling them “no,” making fun of them, rejecting them, etc. This fear stops most people in their tracks.

Key #2: Think, speak, and act only wonderfully about yourself. Never refer to yourself in any derogatory way. Never see yourself, what you do, how you feel, or what you think as “bad” or negative. Don’t even view your circumstances as negative.

Your words have power. Speak and act wonderfully about yourself all the time. Don’t abuse yourself. Only describe yourself in ways that reflect what you WANT rather than what you don’t want.

Key #3: Surround yourself with people and influences that support your purpose and dreams, and respect how special you are.

Don’t hang out with people who don’t believe there’s something wonderful about themselves. Why is that?

Because if they don’t see greatness in themselves,
they can’t see greatness in you.

They can’t give something they don’t have. All they can do is manipulate you. Why? They are trying to get something from you.

Think deeply about this, and you’ll find that it’s very accurate.

Start making confidence your highest priority in your life. Treat it as something you value. This will help you build extraordinary confidence.

The Art of Success – Article #14 – The Law of Giving and Receiving

The Law of
Giving and Receiving

Last week I wrote about the difference between thrivers and survivors.

Thrivers are always GIVING their best to the Universe; while survivors are trying to GET from the Universe.

Let’s look closer at these two mindsets, and how they relate to the Law of Giving.

By Law, the Universe must reward you with whatever you impress upon it. In other words, whatever you give, you will get back.

Always remember…

THOUGHTS
ARE
THINGS.

Where are you in terms of this Law?

Thrivers are filled with purpose that springs forth from the true desire in their heart. Therefore, they give the very best of themselves in useful service each day. It’s always a pleasure to be around these people, because they give their best to everyone.

Thrivers see life as one endless stream of opportunities to give their best.

By Law, the Universe must return to them the energy they put out. If the thriver is a business owner, then the universe rewards them with plenty of opportunities to be successful and give their best.

By contrast, the survivor believes in lack and scarcity, and sees it everywhere. So this is exactly what the Universe returns to them — lack. The survivor collects evidence of lack in their life, which further validates their belief in it. “See? There’s not enough,” they say.

The Universe mirrors them and responds by giving them “not enough.”

That’s the Law of Giving.

The Universe doesn’t care if what you’re giving is good or bad, it will always return it back to you.

Make a conscious decision to give your very best in everything you do, and the Universe will respond by giving it’s best right back to you!

The Art of Success – Article #13 – Survivors Vs. Thrivers

Survivors Vs. Thrivers

Most people want to succeed in life (i.e., thrive), yet they’re programmed merely to survive.

These two conditions — surviving and thriving — come from two entirely different mindsets.

The survivor believes there’s never enough of anything. Survivors never succeed, because they spend all of their life trying to “get” what they think they need to survive…usually love, security, or self-esteem.

Subconsciously, they’ve been programmed to believe in ideas of lack and limitation. You’re not enough, I’m not enough, there’s not enough…

Everything in the survivor’s world confirms this idea of “not enough.” It forms their reality. The survivor’s life is like living hell, and they are barely getting by.

They’re constantly thinking thoughts of lack or limitation everywhere they go. “This is too expensive. I can’t afford that. If only I had enough money to do this…”

The survivor even seeks out and harmonizes with other people who have similar problems.

They’re always looking for opportunities to get, get, get. I want to get the deal, get the bargain, get the money.

They’re programmed to think they have to get, because all they see is lack.

But this is an incorrect way of living.

The law says,

“Give and you’ll receive.”

Thrivers are successful, because they GIVE to their world and the Universe responds in kind. Thrivers already feel loved, secure, and have a healthy self-esteem on the inside.

They’re solid, so they don’t need to go out and “get” things. Instead, they GIVE through everything they do.

To “thrive” means to flourish. The thriver creates a life full of love, joy, peace, prosperity, and giving. That’s success. THAT is real living!

A thriver’s thoughts are in harmony with ideas of abundance and plenty.
They:

Once you’ve formed a clear picture of your desired destination, get emotionally involved with it.

• love giving to other people;

• provide recognition to others;

• freely express themselves;

• know what they want, and where they’re going.

Thrivers attract
opportunities to give

— to provide valuable products and services to other individuals.

Which one are you — a survivor or a thriver?

The Art of Success – Article #12 – 2 Things That Prevent Continued Success

2 Things That Prevent Continued Success

Do you know the two things preventing you from experiencing continued success in your life?

#1 – Not knowing where you are.

#2 – Not knowing where you’re going.

You may think to yourself, “Come on, Neagle. You’ve got to be kidding me. I know exactly where I am, and where I’m going.”

Do you?

Many people don’t have the slightest idea where they are.

For example, let’s say your goal is to build a successful business. But you have an underlying need for love, security, or self-esteem from other people.

Instead of understanding the TRUTH (which is that you already have these three things inside of you), you’ll be out there trying to GET those things from other people.

Every decision you make, whether it’s to go some place or do something, will be based on the goal of “getting” one of those three things in various different forms of manifestation.

If you have a need for security, then you’ve probably built your entire life around “feeling” secure.

Since everything you do is secretly laced with the underlying need for security, you’ll resist doing the things required to grow your business.

You MUST know where you’re starting from (know yourself and your beliefs). come to you.

Once you begin to understand where you are, you can make shifts inside of yourself, and everything you need will come to you.

(It’s like the old saying, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” That’s absolutely true.)

The second piece critical to your success is to know where you’re going. You can’t get somewhere without first knowing where you’re going. Otherwise, you’re just wandering aimlessly.

I mean knowing at a deep level where you want to go.

This requires paying close attention to your desires and acting on them.

Desire is the guide that shows you where to go. It offers hints and leave clues.

Once you’ve formed a clear picture of your desired destination, get emotionally involved with it.

Make it real in your mind.

Then take action on it.

Everything you need for the fulfillment of that desire will show itself.

The Art of Success – Article #11 – Your Desire = Helping Others

Your Desire = Helping Others

Did you know that following one small desire can open up a world of amazing new possibilities for you.

But it doesn’t stop there…

It can produce unbelievable things — not just in your life, but in the lives of all the people you touch!

Why is this?

Because living YOUR desire
can also unlock the
seeds of desire in others.

When you’re a creative being, living the fullest expression of the potential inside of you, you cannot help but be noticed by others who are also working towards that same potential.

You become an inspiration just by being who you are — and doing the things you want to do.

You don’t have to try, struggle, fuss, or go through all kinds of garbage to make that happen. It just… happens.

This creates a positive ripple effect in the world…none of which could ever happen if you kept your desire locked inside of you.

One fantastic example of this is the bestselling author, Elizabeth Gilbert, who wrote the book Eat Pray Love. Her book became a global bestseller — and it all sprung from a tiny seed of desire.

One day Liz had a thought: “It’d be cool to speak Italian.” That desire led her to learn the language…which then led her to travel to Italy and other countries. While traveling, she had many life-changing experiences. She wrote about these experiences in her book, which became a mega-bestseller and impacted the lives of millions.

What if she had dismissed the initial seed of desire, or ignored it? The world would have missed out on a lot!

You can easily disregard your desires — and do nothing with them. OR you can give yourself permission to act on them!

No desire is too small or too insignificant; even if it’s something as simple as, “I want this wall in my living room to be blue.”

Having trouble tapping into your desire? Take a good long look at what you’re currently tolerating in your life and you’ll see that the opposite of toleration is DESIRE.

The Art of Success – Article #10 – What’s your potential?

What’s your potential?

Each person has a desire in their heart. That desire is a lot like a seed.

If you take any seed in nature and place it in your hand, what are you actually holding? You’re holding the potential for something else. That’s what a seed holds — the potential for something else… something more.

For example, if you hold the seed of an oak tree in your hand, it has the potential to become a massive oak tree.

Not only that — once it becomes a massive oak tree, that tree will produce seeds; each of which will also become oak trees…and soon you have an entire forest.

All of that could come from one tiny seed? Yes!

But if you simply looked at the appearance of the seed, you couldn’t see all of that right away. It would just look like a small seed, and nothing more.

Desire is the same way.

Like the seed, desire has the potential to become so much more in your life, if you allow it to grow.

If you nurture your desire, feed it, put in the right environment, and give it what it needs to be expressed, it will GROW…and it will create massive things in your life — things that aren’t immediately apparent to you right now.

That’s why following your desire is so powerful. It holds so much potential.

Just like an entire forest could be created from one tiny seed, there’s potential for amazing transformations to occur in your life if you allow yourself to follow even one small desire you have in your heart.

So follow your desires…no matter how small they are!

They will lead you in the direction of your purpose and have a lasting impact on others.

The Art of Success – Article #9 – All about fantasies…

All about fantasties …

Most of you know that kids are great at using their imaginations and fantasizing about things.

In fact, when we were little kids and we first came into this world, we didn’t have any trouble at all fantasizing. We pretended we were in rocket ships or that we were princes, princesses, ballerinas, or football players.

If you give a kid just pots and pans and wooden spoons and keep them away from the television, they’ll create amazing things with their imagination.

No one taught them how to do this. They were born with this innate ability.

We would call it a complete fantasy — something that’s taking place entirely in their mind. They’re building images in their mind.

However, as people grow older, they seem to lose this ability to imagine and fantasize.

They’re taught
to be “realistic.”

I've often asked myself, why God would give us such an incredible imagination and the ability to fantasize — and then, as we start to grow up, we’re told not to use it. It just never made sense to me.

At school, kids are told to get their head out of the clouds and stop daydreaming. Teenagers are encouraged to go into certain careers because they have an “aptitude” for some skill — but they’re never asked, “What do you REALLY want to do?”

So over time, kids learn to stop using their imagination. They abandon their true desires and give up their dreams.

Maybe this happened for you at some point.

Have you lost the ability to imagine and fantasize about what you truly desire?

Here’s the good news: no one ever really loses this ability. It’s always there, even if it’s latent. (Although it may be buried under your need to conform.)

I invite you to get back in touch with the desires you had as a kid.

Allow yourself to daydream.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to do? What if you allowed yourself to fantasize about it?

All creation begins with an image in the mind…so imagine away!
