Here’s how your magnificent obsession = dollars!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David. I'm having a difficult time setting a money goal and then sticking to it. It doesn't seem to be enough to set the financial goal; yet, I really NEED the money that I'm asking for. How do I continually stay focused on that goal?

Answer:

To answer your question, I'm going to refer to Chapter 2 in Napoleon Hill's book, Think and Grow Rich.

You see, wishing for money will not bring it.

According to Hill, desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence, which DOES NOT RECOGNIZE FAILURE, will bring riches.

If you look at the above paragraph, you can see there are many things at play in hitting your financial goal.

First, you must desire it. You must be emotionally attached to it. Some of you may have even heard me call your goal a magnificent obsession. Get crystal clear on your goal. If it's an amount you've picked out of thin air because it “would be nice”, you cannot be emotionally attached to it. Your goal should mean something to you.

Second, you must take action on a plan to bring forth the money. No matter how much you desire to hit your goal, the heavens will not open and drop money in your lap.

Third, you must be persistent, and you must be persistent in a way that you REFUSE to accept failure as an option. I call this “burning the ships”. For some of you this may mean giving up a weekend to make sales calls or doing something you've been resisting for quite some time. It's about doing whatever it takes regardless of the fear that you are confronted with.

And fourth, along with being persistent, you must see, feel and believe yourself already having the money you need to hit your financial goal. Your desire must be so strong, that you convince yourself that you already have it.

And in truth, if you desire it, it is in fact already here for you.

To help you stay focused, I recommend that you read and reread Chapter 2 in Think and Grow Rich, and pay special attention to the practical steps he gives for turning your desires into its financial equivalent.

Charging my worth is gut-wrenching…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Pegi Dahl. You can find her on the web at www.heypegi.com.

Question:

I've lived the Law of Attraction for years now and all but one part of my life “clicks.” My bills are paid. My new desires are met. I love what I do and find that incoming jobs come to me at the perfect time. I'm so happy I could bust, except for this one thing.

I find it gut-wrenching to charge for my work. When I invoice, I rarely charge what the work was worth. I am excellent at what I do, as my clients will attest. I have good self-esteem. I just prefer to do what I love and let the Universe provide.

I'd like to step up my income and move to the next level, which will mean charging what my quality of work is worth. Can you help?

Answer:

I love this question…

Pegi, I need to tell you something, and I'm typing it with nothing but love.

You don't have good self-esteem.

If you did, you wouldn't be afraid of the rejection you would have to deal with when you begin to charge what you're worth.

Above you said that you're excellent at what you do, and that your clients will attest to it. So tell me, if this is the case, why would you find it gut-wrenching to charge for your work?

You prefer to do what you love and let the Universe provide because you are afraid of what will need to happen for you to grow. You would need to stand in your power, be confident and not be afraid of hearing the word, “no”.

And let me tell you something, the Universe doesn't “provide” anything. You create it. And right now you are creating just enough to get by.

You see Spirit doesn't speak to you through fear, therefore, it's not Spirit that's making it gut-wrenching to charge for your services.

It's your ego.

Your ego knows that you are afraid of rejection and judgment from others, and so it uses that belief to stop you from growing.

Charging what you're worth means that you would need to grow into being that person, and that's something your ego DOES NOT want you to do because it views any kind of growth as a risk.

Gravity doesn’t need your approval…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Amanda.

Question:

Hi David. I'm not sure this is a question or more of a statement, but here goes…
I've been stuck for a really long time. It seems that every time I try something, I don't get results. It's becoming very hard to believe in The Laws, when I'm continually NOT getting what I “desire”.
Can you help?

Answer:

Thanks for your honesty, Amanda.

First I want to point out that whether you believe in The Laws or not, they are at work 100% of the time.

Just like gravity.

Gravity doesn't really care if you believe in it or not, but if you step off a roof, you're going to hit the ground. The Laws are the same.

You are manifesting every second of every day whether you realize it or not.

And just so I'm clear, manifesting is becoming aware of what is already here.

Second, I want to point out that you ARE getting results. They may not be the results that you want or expect, but they are results nonetheless.

So my question is two fold…

What are you doing with the results that you are getting? Those results are a gift because they are giving you direction, they are telling you what you need to be doing differently.

My hunch is that if you got right down to it, you know what you should be doing differently, but you're resisting it because of fear.

Take some time and be honest with yourself. Sit quietly and really THINK.

WHAT ARE YOU RESISTING?

The Universe isn't going to give you the next step, if you haven't completed the one that's right in front of you.

You MUST do what you fear doing.

The second part of my question is this…

Are you studying? Are you looking for direction and inner knowledge?

To this day I study. My books go with me wherever I go, and if you look at my most successful students, you will see that they too study.

To allow the Laws to work with you, you must understand them. Not just know they exist. You must experience them and really understand the truth in them.

I recommend Raymond Holliwell's, Working With The Law. Start small, read paragraphs over, let it really sink in, and then begin to see where The Laws are working in everything you see.

I want my wife to grow too…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Steven.

Question:

I have been struggling for some time to replace the limiting beliefs that were holding me in an endless loop. I meditated on it and repeated affirmations. I made new contacts with myself and people whom I know have the knowledge to help me to move into the world that I have been desiring. My question is, how can I help my wife to move with me instead of against me in this effort? I love her and don't want to leave her and our family, however I feel that every time I make headway in the direction of my aspirations, she keeps me from making that final leap of faith to actually start accumulating wealth, and we fall back into the debt habits and I have to start all over. Help me help her, please!

Answer:

Thanks for your question, Steven.

First, your wife's personal growth is not your responsibility.

I know that may seem harsh, but it's a selfish thing to force someone to change who does not want to change.

We are all responsible for our own growth, and there are those who welcome the change, and others who have no desire to change.

Your only responsibility is to accept her for who she is, and then ask your self if you want to be partners with someone who doesn't want to change. And I think it's important to for you to understand that no one can hold you down, unless you allow yourself to be held down.

With this in mind, ask yourself how it's serving you to allow her to hold you back.

Don't say it doesn't, because if it didn't serve you in someway, you wouldn't be experiencing the situation.

In any healthy relationship, both people should have the room and freedom that they need to foster their own growth. You have a responsibility to yourself to pursue your dreams, and if she doesn't agree; she has the option to leave the relationship.

As Vernon Howard so eloquently states, “Behave the way you really are, even if it ends a relationship. Never suppress yourself in an effort to influence, hold, or win someone. When we are unreal, so are our rewards. To say this in another way, never behave the way you think the other person wants you to behave, but in the manner you must. Nothing you really need to do or have ever requires a yielding to a person or custom.”

Your relationships will only affect your ability to manifest if you're not true to yourself.

The 4 Questions work like magic…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

How do you know when the next step is in front of you, or if it's just the next shiny new thing that's trying to manipulate your time and energy?

Answer:

Thanks for the question! I know many entreprenuers struggle with this.

First it's important to know if you have a clear cut goal. You can't decide what the next step is if you don't know where you're going to begin with.

If you don't have a goal, set some time aside and get very clear about what you'd like the end result to be.

If you already know what the goal is, ask yourself if there is something that your resisting doing that's keeping you from that goal.

Often times, if there's a subconscious fear in taking action, something shiny will pop up to distract you.

You'll need to be very honest with yourself about this, as your mind will create stories around why you're resisting something.

Let me give you an example:

If your goal is to enroll more clients, and you KNOW your next step is to make sales calls, but instead you sign up for a class to learn how to build a website, you're using the website class as a distraction.

And the insidious thing is that you will have yourself convinced that when you finish the class, you'll magically have those new clients enrolled.

When you really want a clear gauge to help you make a decision, I always recommend that you turn to the FOUR QUESTIONS.

So let's use the example above and run it through using the FOUR QUESTIONS.

1) Is this something I want to be do or have? In the instance of the web class, yes.
2) Is being, doing or having this taking me closer to my goal? In this instance the answer would be no because it would be taking the person farther from it. They already know that the most direct way to enroll clients is to make sales calls.
3) Is being, doing or having this in alignment with Universal Law (more life to all)? Yes
4) Does being, doing or having this violate the rights of others (does it take away someone else's right to choose)? No

The determining factor in using these questions is that you must answer yes to the first three questions, and no to the fourth.

Since the answer to the 2nd question was a no, this person would not choose to take the web class. Instead they would focus on working through their resistance to sales calls.

When experiencing indecision, using the four questions above, will help you see clearly which direction to take.

Ego venom slows, disorients & blinds

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

David, I've heard you mention the role the ego plays in stopping you from manifesting. How do I identify if my ego is trying to stop me?

Answer:

Hi and thanks for your question.

Your ego's sole job is to keep you exactly where you are. Your ego perceives any growth or change as a threat to your survival, and it will immediately begin to bring up fears to control your decision making.

And your ego can be very tricky!

Let me give you an example…

The truth states that if you have a desire, the way to fulfill that desire is already present. Therefore, if you feel a deep desire for something, that desire is coming from Spirit. It's a message being sent to you to help foster your growth and keep you on the path to increased consciousness.

The next thing that happens is your ego recognizes this desire as a threat, and immediately gives you many reasons why you shouldn't take action to achieve your desire. Some reasons your ego will use are:

  • it's not the right time
  • you don't want to travel
  • you don't have enough money
  • you don't deserve it
  • people will laugh at you
  • you will fail and everyone will find out

Because your ego is strong, you believe these excuses, and you stifle your own growth.

You believe the lies your ego is telling you.

So let's go back to the truth.

Spirit does not speak to you through fear. Period.

I'm sure you've heard me teach about manifestation. But let me just remind you that manifestation simply means “becoming aware of what already exists”. To simplify it, you can't want something without it already being present.

And your ego doesn't want you to take action toward your desire because in taking action you grow.

What’s the key to upping my vibration?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

I know that my thoughts and emotions are a key ingredient in manifesting what I want in my life. That being said, I'm wondering if you know a strategy to keep myself at a high vibrational level? I find I get sucked down into the negative more than I'd like.

Answer:

The true key to joy and happiness is through gratitude. Sounds simple, yes? Just be grateful for everything, and you will live in a state of bliss. Easy…

Let me break it down for you a little more.

The key to joy and happiness is gratitude, BUT, the key to gratitude is to be a master of your thoughts and emotions.

Let me give you an example…

You are driving down the highway and someone is driving exceptionally slow in front of you. You are heading somewhere and really just want to get home from wherever you were.

Now, you have a choice of how to respond to this.

You can choose to be annoyed, irritated, and begin the self talk of, “Why does this always happen to me? Look at this idiot in front of me, someone needs to teach him to drive. I wish this jerk would get over so I can pass him!” At this point you're not feeling very grateful for this experience. And you certainly aren't filled with joy.

OR

You can choose to see this person in front of you as a gift. You can say to yourself, “Maybe I should slow down a bit. It is a beautiful day. Maybe this speed is a link in a chain of events geared toward helping me avoid an accident.” Now you're feeling grateful and probably a little bit joyful as well.

The situation is the same in both scenarios, and you have the power to CHOOSE how you are going to respond to this experience. You have the power to choose to be joyful and happy.

This example can be replayed in ANY event in your life. You always have the power to choose your response. And your response is the key to your positive or negative experience.

THIS TAKES PRACTICE. And sometimes you may even need someone to remind you to stop and think about how you are reacting.

Always remember…God is good all the time.

Do partners in bed make partners in business?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

My husband and I bought the company he was working for 5 years ago. I truly believe in God and that we can change the circumstances of our lives. My husband does not and our business (distributor of industrial machinery) is in serious financial trouble. How can I change things around if my husband is trapped in negativity and stress? He is the one who makes the business decisions.
Thank you David!

Answer:

Thanks so much for this question!

Is this your husband's business, or do you own it jointly?

The reason I'm asking is VERY important.

If you and your husband own the business jointly, why does your husband make all the business decisions?

AND

If this is your husband's business, why are you trying to save him? Are you using his situation as a distraction from what you should be doing for yourself?

I'm going to answer this question based on the assumption that you and your husband both own the business.

I'm not questioning your belief in God that you can turn your business into success, I'm just wondering how you can take action on that faith if you've given all decision making power to your husband.

If you own your business jointly, you should discuss business decisions together.

That being said, generally when this scenario pops up with entrepreneurs and their partners it's because each person wants something completely different.

If you haven't already, I recommend sitting down as a couple and having an honest discussion about what each of you wants.

Are they the same or completely different?

Your business is failing for a reason, and if you do both not want the same things, it could be sabotaging your success.

Here's an activity I recommend for all couples who are also in business together.

Give yourselves the assignment of writing down your personal goals. Be sure to include financial, personal, short term and long term goals.

Set a “date” to discuss what you've each written. You may even want to get out of the house to share your lists.

Concentrate on really listening to what your partner is telling you. Ask questions, and be careful not to judge what they've written.

Ask your partner why they want what they want, and what their goals really mean to them.

It's my hunch that in doing this exercise, you'll not only open the lines of communication back up, but also gain some awareness around why your business is currently struggling.

What Super-Powers would a Super-Victim have? (Impossible…)

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

How does one pick up after 30 yrs of successful business only to lose everything including wife of 30 years? I have hit the skids and can't seem to get out.

Answer:

Everything that happens to you in your lifetime has happened because you created it.

You've created all the joyous moments and the painful moments, and you've created it for a reason.

Napolean Hill states in his book, Think and Grow Rich, that opportunity often comes disguised as misfortune or temporary defeat.

Letting go of any resentment you still hold will allow you to see the opportunity, and although what happened feels like a tragedy, the blessing that it brings far outweighs that tragedy.

There is something really big and powerful on the other side of this, and you created the downfall to force your own growth.

Your first step in overcoming the anger and resentment that is keeping you from seeing the opportunity is to take responsibility for the situation.

You can't be powerful and a victim at the same time.

If you stay in the victim mentality, you will only see with the eyes of a victim, and you will be blind to the opportunities that are before you right now.

The ONLY reason I do anything — ever!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

I've heard you mention that people often do things for love, security, and/or self-esteem. I'm a beginning coach and I feel in my heart (and have felt for much of my life) that teaching and sharing information is a large part of who I am. How can I tell if the joy I feel when sharing information comes from pursuing my heart's desire or is it because teachings fulfill some of my self-esteem needs.

Answer:

This is a question every coach, healer or teacher needs to ask themselves.

Here’s the difference…

Is the joy you’re feeling coming from the sharing of the information or is the joy you feel coming from the accolades you receive from others for sharing the information?

For example, if you were to teach something and then didn’t receive any positive feedback, would the sharing still be joyful?

Do you feel satisfaction for doing the teaching?

Someone who has a lack in self-esteem needs to get it from others. So they will speak and teach with the subconscious goal of “getting” from their clients or audience. They are not coming from a place of giving.

Many people have asked me over the years why I love to teach and speak.

I do what I do for the sole goal of expressing the gifts Spirit has given me, and for no other reason.

You shouldn’t be doing what you’re doing for any other reason either.
