For better or for worse?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David,
I am in a very painful relationship, and I know that I am responsible for it. I have been trying for a year now to work on myself (with many methods) but there is no improvement. My biggest confusion arises in me because I don't understand if I should leave the relationship or if I work enough on myself I will find myself happiness and in peace in this relationship. Can you clarify this for me?
Thank you.

Answer:

Thanks for your question.

Have you ever heard the saying that people come in to our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime?

It's the truth, and knowing when to release a relationship can be a difficult decision.

If you're in a relationship with an abusive person, you can work on yourself for years and it still won't change them, and really it's not your right to try to change them.

You have to ask yourself why you're choosing to stay in the relationship if it's been so painful.

How is it serving you?

Are you a hope addict?

Are you staying the relationship in the hopes that your partner will change and everything will get better?

Are you afraid to be alone?

In a healthy relationship, both people have to be willing to work on themselves to achieve a joint goal. If one person is not willing to grow, over time it will create a wedge in the relationship, and it will flounder and fail.

Are you and your partner on the same page or are you changing who you are and sacrificing what you want to “make” the relationship work?

Answering these questions will help you see if it's time to leave.

Please keep in mind, if you are being abused in ANY way, you must make every effort to stop the abuse by putting up boundaries or you must leave the relationship. Period.

Remember, you may be responsible for the attracting all the relationships in your life, but that doesn't mean you have to tolerate a relationship if it is no longer serving you.

Can you catch 3 bunnies?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Matt Brainern.

Question:

I have a full-time job, have a desire to grow my home-based internet marketing business and even work a part time job teaching guitar lessons. Do you feel it is possible to desire multiple things at once or do we only have so much energy to give and should we focus it to maximize desired results?

Answer:

Hi Matt and thanks for your question.

I think it's first important to get an understanding of WHY you want to be doing all of these things.

What's your motivation behind working full-time job, growing your home-based marketing business and teaching guitar lessons?

Are you doing all of these things because you truly love them all?

Or are your motivations due to something else?

I have a hard time believing that you're equally passionate about all three. So get really clear and honest about why you're doing what you're doing.

Ask yourself if you're taking part in these businesses because you really love them or because you feel you SHOULD, you need the money, or you hope others appreciate you for your HARD WORK.

Do you have a belief that you can't do what you love AND make money?

Are you creating distraction and chaos to keep yourself small?

You see, what you're doing right now is chasing multiple bunnies.

You will get your best results when you can focus on ONE business and give all your energy to it.

Once you get clear on that, choose the one business you're most passionate and inspired about and then give it your ALL. Burn the ships and don't let anything stop you or stand in your way of achieving your goals.

The truth is that once you have a deep emotional desire for something and then EXPECT that desire to manifest, the Universe will respond.

Emotion puts everything in motion, and if you're not passionate about your business, you most likely won't get the results you're hoping for.

My assignment to you is to really get clear on WHY you're splitting your energy between 3 unrelated businesses. This will allow you to see what needs to change more clearly.

Everything but the kitchen sink…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Clarice.

Question:

Hi David! I work with brick and mortar business owners as well as on-line entrepreneurs to help them in ALL areas in their business. I help them with social media, copywriting, webpage creation, and mindset to name a few. I have a nice size list and I'm marketing like crazy, but I'm not getting any response or feedback from my list. Any ideas what's going on I need to start making some money and FAST?

Answer:

Thanks for your question Clarice!

You aren't getting any traction with your list because you haven't been clear about what you want and who you'd like to work with.

It's better to focus on one thing and take action on that one thing rather than to focus on many and do nothing.

Ready to get moving?

First, you MUST figure out who you would most LOVE to work with. Is your ideal client a real estate agent, an entrepreneur new to her business, someone searching for a purpose, or someone needing help building a team? EXACTLY who would you most LOVE to work with? Yes, I know, you don't want to exclude anyone, but you must pick ONE for now. Create a detailed profile for that person.

Your list is confused, because they don't know you're talking to THEM. And a confused list NEVER buys.

Next, decide what your most pressing need is RIGHT NOW. If your biggest need is cash flow, create a plan around the fastest way to satisfy that need, and focus on your ideal client. So, if your biggest need is cash flow, don't waste your time on website design. Websites don't produce cash flow, sales conversations do. Immediately focus your efforts on tapping in to the resources around you.

If you want to speed that progression up, you must have a clear target market, message and goal.

When you send off confusing messages and you get confusion in return.

Don’t even SLEEP until these 6 steps are DONE!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Robert Smith.

Question:

Help! I'm struggling with distraction. I know what I need to be doing, and yet, so many things pop up each day that keeps me from completing those necessary tasks. Do you have any tried and true ways to deal with this situation?

Answer:

Hi Robert!

I see this as a very common problem with entrepreneurs, and even those that coach with me personally.

They wake up in the morning jazzed about the goals they are going to meet for that day. Their mind is full of thoughts about clients they are going to contact, the sales they are going to make, and the planning/marketing ideas they are going to implement.

And then something interesting happens…

They become DISTRACTED.

They begin fumbling through emails, doing laundry, running out for groceries, or “organizing” their office.

You see, distraction is your ego's way of keeping you EXACTLY where you are. And it provides you an excuse for resisting doing something you're afraid to do.

Entrepreneurs will cause all manner of distraction and use it as an excuse for not making sales calls, because they are afraid of rejection or what people will think of them. Another reason they attract distraction is to keep them from making decisions that they are afraid to make.

And the most insidious thing about it is that you don't even consciously realize that's why you've attracted the distraction in the first place.

Here's what I suggest…

Set a clear goal. This goal could be action, sales or financially oriented.

Each day when you wake up, write down the 6 most important things that need to be done that day to bring you closer to the goal.

Practice this every day.

Refuse to go to sleep at night until every one of those 6 tasks are completed.

It will take discipline, but it's the most important habit you can develop as it will have a DIRECT impact on the success of your business.

How to find meaning in painful experiences…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Amanda R.

Question:

A year ago I lost everything. Financially I was close to bankruptcy and my husband asked for a divorce. It was a dark time for me. Since then I've been trying to find meaning to help me see why I attracted those painful experiences in my life. Can you help?

Answer:

Hi Amanda.

Sometimes is pretty tough to find meaning in painful situations.

And honestly you may never really know why something happens, which is why I always turn to the truth in situations like that.

The truth says that the thing you need to overcome is the lesson you need to learn to be the greatest you in your life.

This lesson is part of your destiny. You wouldn't experience it if it weren't there to help you grow and heal.

Things happen not to hurt you but to heal you.

So take a moment and look back at your life. How were you different then compared to now?

Are you stronger?

More self-assured?

More independent?

Have those experiences opened doors that wouldn't have opened before?

You see, your soul created those experiences for a reason, and that reason is for you to GROW.

So be very careful of falling into a victim mentality, instead be grateful for the experience as it is helping shape who you are growing to become.

Celebrate it!

My prospects can’t afford me!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Help! I don't seem to be attracting the people who can afford my programs. I have conversations with them, and just by what they are telling me, I know they can't afford my services. Most of the time I don't even offer what I know they need because I know they can't afford it. How can I attract people who can pay for my services?

Answer:

Thanks for this question!!

But hold on a second…if you don't ask for the sale, how do you know they can't afford what they need?

You don't have a client problem, you have a sales problem, and the answer is simple…

You need to step into being the expert that you are.

Allow me to explain.

Let's say you have a problem. You're experiencing chest pain. You rush to the doctor and he runs some tests. He discovers that you need open-heart surgery.

He comes back into the room to tell you his recommendation, but he looks at you and determines that you can't afford open-heart surgery.

So instead he clips your toenails and sends you on your way.

That doctor has broken a Universal Law. He has taken away your right to choose.

How does that make you feel? Probably not very good, because you'll have a heart attack without that surgery.

The above scenario isn't much different than what you're doing with the people who are coming to you for help.

You are the expert, and the truth is, if their sense of urgency is high enough, the money will be there.

Don't take away someone's right to choose what's best for them because you've judged that they can't afford what they really need.

Here’s how you know it’s time to get a J.O.B!

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Something is wrong and I am not able to convert inquiries into clients. I get contacted and that's it. I'm also networking and volunteering my services to help others and talk about what I do. What am I doing wrong? I don't know what to do. Thanks!

Answer:

First let's identify where the breakdown is taking place.

If I understand this correctly, you don't have any problems attracting potential clients, but you DO have a problem converting a potential client into a paying client.

This leads me to believe that there is a breakdown at the point of the sales conversation, probably right about when you are attempting to make an offer and discuss your pricing.

This is an uncomfortable point for many entrepreneurs. It's uncomfortable because they take their sales personally. They feel if a potential client says no to them, that they are being rejected. In fact, I know many entrepreneurs who would rather go bankrupt than to ask for a sale because they fear rejection.

The truth is, the client is saying no for other reasons.

They may say no because you haven't painted a clear enough picture of what they will receive (end result) in working with you.

They may say no because your energy is coming from a “getting” place instead of a “giving” place. (You know that feeling you get when someone tries to sell you something, and even though you really want it, you say no because the salesperson is giving you an uncomfortable feeling?)

They may say they want to “think about it”, because they just simply don't want to make a decision.

The key to getting to the bottom of the problem you're having is to pay very close attention to what you are saying, what you are feeling, and what you are hearing in your conversations. I even recommend recording some of your conversations so that you can listen to yourself ad pick out the points of breakdown in your conversation.

Here are a few more points for you to think about:

1. If you are attracting people who tell you they don't have the money to pay for your services, take a long hard look at your own relationship with money. These excuses are mirrors for your own beliefs.

2. Are you in control of the sales conversation, or do you feel that you're letting the other person run the show?

3. Do you feel you are “under charging” for your services, but have lowered your prices because you really want someone to say, “Yes”? If you discount, you will attract discount shoppers.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but step 4 is: Hire the best sales coach in your awareness! (That's me.)

Look, if you're in business, you're in sales. And if you don't learn to master the sales conversation, you'll never be the master of your income acceleration! If you're set on resisting improving your “sales set”, I would strongly suggest you think about GETTING A J.O.B. instead.

Can I buy you a drink?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Miranda.

Question:

Hi David! Thanks so much for the opportunity to ask this question! I recently heard a teaching you did on the importance of environment, but I'm having a hard time understanding how my environment affects my business results. Can you explain this please?

Answer:

Absolutely.

As a person grows, they change.

And they change in a way that is not always supported by their physical environment.

This is why we'll see people who will come to a workshop and make huge strides in their personal growth, only to return home and go right back into their old patterns.

Let me make this even more simple.

If you were an alcoholic, and you had stopped drinking, would you continue to return to the bar every day?

You'd get out of the bar and stay out because the being in the bar wouldn't be supporting your success.

You may even seek out other people who have stopped drinking as well so that you'll have the support you need.

Imagine how much more successful you'd be if you would surround yourself with people and things that supported you rather than trying to pull you back into being who you once were.

Look around you.

Are you surrounding yourself with beautiful things that represent who you want be?

Do your relationships support your growth or do they stifle it?

If you answered no to either of those questions, you've got some work to do.

Even the smallest of changes in your environment will make a difference in your success.

When the cat is away…

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hello David ! I just started in business and I have what I see as a problem. I come from a family where self value wasn't present, and I find that it's hard for me to deal with employees. I tend to be kind and put at least some of their priorities first. In business books I keep reading that is not a good tactic. I am afraid I will ruin my business success by considering employees' needs too!
What's your opinion?

Answer:

Hi and thanks for the question!

“Dealing” with employees and “considering their needs” are two totally different things.

Because I'm not sure of the exact scenarios you are referencing, I'm going to make some assumptions in order to help you get some clarity about what's going on in your business.

My guess is that you would rather be liked than prosperous.

Let me explain.

If you put your employees needs over the needs of your business because you are afraid that they won't like you if you tell them no, you would rather be liked than prosperous.

If you avoid having the “difficult” conversations with your employees regarding expectations and responsibilities because you're worried they won't like you, you would rather be liked than prosperous.

You see, it's one thing to consider the needs to your employees, it's an entirely different thing if your employees needs negatively affect your business.

Communication is key in any business setting, and if you're having difficulty communicating for fear of what others will think, you're putting your business in a very perilous position.

The key is to really become aware of what's happening.

Most people experience this in their business because they fear the judgment of others.

Judgment is painful and therefore, they are willing to do anything to avoid it.

Freedom is in realizing that the judgment of others has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the person who is judging.

Team members respect a leader who is confident and clear.

Think of one thing you can do right now to step into being the leader you need to be.

Now, take action!

How would your life be different?

This week's question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous.

Question:

Hi David!

I've heard you teach a lot about worthiness. How do I truly convince myself that I am worthy of everything I want?

Answer:

You don't have to convince yourself of anything. You just have to look at Truth.

The truth is that you are a divine being, created in the likeness of Spirit, God, Allah, or whatever spiritual belief that you subscribe to. And being that this is in fact, TRUTH, it is also true, that nothing unworthy of God is worthy of you.

You are worthy of everything and anything that you want.

What made Richard Branson or Oprah worthy of their riches? They are the same as you. Nothing separates you.

The fact that you are even asking this question shows that somewhere a message got handed to you that you agreed with. That message could have been that you need to work hard for anything in life, or that you weren't good enough, smart enough, or pretty enough. Your self esteem was damaged, and you vowed that you'd never open yourself up to that vulnerability again. Questioning worthiness comes from a place of being afraid to be seen or heard for fear of ridicule.

Imagine for a moment what your life would be like if you didn't care what others thought. If you weren't worried about making mistakes, looking like a fool, or being humiliated. How would your decision making be different? More importantly, how would your LIFE be different?

I encourage you to make a decision today that you ARE worthy. Don't “convince” yourself.

Proclaim it.

Stand in your power, say it out loud, and continue to do so until small changes in your thinking and behavior begin to occur. Every morning, look in the mirror, and tell yourself that you're perfect just the way you are and that NOTHING unworthy of God is worthy of you.

Only then will you see your brilliance in this world and be shown the opportunities in life that will change EVERYTHING.

Because, my friend, THAT is the TRUTH, and The Universe wants you to have all that you desire even more than you than you want it for yourself.
